Game is still to easy with very forgiving parry window and rune near infinite sustaining, that stagger bosses too... If someone struggling now, he just need to get better.
I am sorry for harsh comment, but it is early access and things will only get harder and demanding, because majority of souls-like genre players will demand it.
Also when it comes to broken equipment and lack off food - it is not game that you can brute force through by chain-death-training bosses. It is already forgiving that you can just join new realm with same character and re-farm materials and some more exp, if you stuck.

I'm going to disagree on the aggressiveness of this game regarding the fluidity of actual gameplay. Why can't it be as "imbalanced" as you all seem to suggest it is. The weapon durability, the food, the slots....you are all complaining about there not being enough of those things, but it piggy backs off of you all wanting to make the game what? easier then? Why not keep the so called imperfect models of the gameplay how they are?

Food farming on boss losses isn’t that big of a deal. The materials are easy to find and abundant, what isn’t abundant in lower levels is the repair costs of your armor. Apart from that, you should have an infinite resource sized bag. Weapons need balancing as well. Greatswords need to scale differently, fat rolling can stay only if they provide a quickstep rune for Greatswords, the weight cap is nuts low, wind up with big weapons is too long for how little damage they do and you’re too vulnerable.

  • @FelisImpurrator
    @FelisImpurrator Před měsícem +7

    The biggest issues I have:
-Item durability is brutal. Too expensive to repair by far, and can get you stuck in a loop of lose-more. Especially in that particular case where items can break mid combat.
-Food economy and farming for heals sucks, hard agree there.
-Level bracketing is terrible. I hit level 12 and all of a sudden everything west of the city was Pestilence enemies, causing a sudden difficulty spike my upgraded level 1 weapon just can't deal with without tedium. I was JUST able to get to a point where combat felt fairly on par with my gear, and it's gone again.
-Minimum stat thresholds are awful. Grime had this problem early on and solved it by letting you equip things at reduced scaling effectiveness. Seems absolutely necessary to me in a game where you can't control your drops. Scaling benefits also seem kind of terrible early on, like two points in dex for one point of damage from a dagger? Come on. And you can't respec!
-UI is missing so much info. What does this rune do? I don't know because it won't tell me when I'm in the shop OR in the equipment menu. What does each icon on a gear piece mean and what corresponds to which status on my HUD? Game won't tell me either. Got the wrong bounty and want to switch? Sorry, bucko - you just erased one of your dailies permanently.
-Live service crap that doesn't feel worthwhile: Why does building require real world time? Why does sleeping require FOUR HOURS for a rested bonus? Why dailies and weeklies like some MMO? It doesn't do anything that makes those things feel like anything other than a punishment or arbitrary timegate.
-Badly telegraphed attacks, delayed moves, true combos everywhere. Why do half the melee enemies switch between super quick attacks with tiny windups that can interrupt your parry animation, and ones that delay longer than Margit the Fell? Why do multiple enemies stagger their attacks to rollcatch? Why do those infected wolves have a tongue combo that has huge reach, forward momentum, and massive damage to 100-0 you if you're anywhere near their faces? This is just cheap, like Lords of the Fallen on launch day cheap. No one likes climbing onto a ledge and instantly being shoved off by an axe guy.

for me what is the biggest problems :
    1) when you run to climb down instead it jumps and ignore the vines or ladder
    2) I think the amount of bounties and challenges a bit small it could be nice if each ingame day pass it would add a new bounty and challenge instead of real life time
    3) I hope they will make that when you run out of type of food it would change to the next highest healing food (for me farming for food before boss fight no problem and can buy food mats so its pretty easy to stack up of course you can put away food mats before boss fight so it wont get low healing one but that is just less good than fixing it
    4) this not a problem but tip - for people who struggle with paying for fixing or you want to fix everything for free out of town you can make a secondary realm and get to the blacksmith but not to town and than you can use the second realm for fixing cause during tutorial its free and when you go back to main realm it would send you to same location before going to secondary realm hope that helps been using it alot at first few hours later on got so much money that didnt need to
    5) this I really hope they will do something about it when I finished foraging area I hope they will add something to tell us when area is out of mats to farm (mine nodes trees etc ) many times I was going to area and it was out of mats and was waste of time
    6) I think the UI for placing decoration inside house not so easy to use in compare to other games I played like valheim where it easy to place things because of the grid
    7) this one not problem but if they add it I think it can be cool I wish they will add a pet that can come with you at your journey maybe it will be able to carry some extra loot and attack some mobs or maybe finding some mats from time to time like in one of the pets in castle crashers there a pet that brings food (some players dont like co op but like companion it can give a solution )

Game do this in 2 ways, first is items brake u need to go repair - short breake, and the crafting items farm to longest brake. You can put healing rune in weapon and you can switch weapons when you need to cast heal. I die so often but my repair cost never was more than 42 bronze coins and you have items who repair ur items.

  • @Collywood759

I think my only true issue with the game as is it stands, which is understandable with it being the first iteration of early access, is how the weapon requirement system works. In tandem with the weight system, it's extremely punishing. I'm not sure if I just progressed too quickly, but I found myself consistently finding weapons and equipment that were ten levels above mine or had requirements that would take ten levels of just pumping a stat to use. Through my time in the game I only found three weapons with a strict strength requirement. Everything else required 16-42 points of another stat, i.e. intelligence or faith. Couple that with being required to pump consistent points into equip load, I found myself never being able to use another weapon. My hope is they up the default equip load and add in more weapons with lower requirement.
I understand the concept of realms and different character builds, but getting a legendary bow that requires FORTY TWO dexterity with my character level only being 15, feels wrong.

  • @xShredsx
    @xShredsx Před měsícem

I dont know if I agree with the food issue. It works, I think this is a personal opinion issue, and a playstyle issue. REALLY early game you have crappy options for healing agreed.
    1. Its a souls-like game, you want difficult, and punishing. Pretty punishing going through all your consumables because you can't handle a boss. Materials are so plentiful, and enemies also drop food.
    2. You've used all your consumables....you're probably not ready for that boss. If you take the time to do some dailies before facing a boss, or grabbing some gear you should be able to stock your supplies pretty nicely. I've found that most cooked foods are very generous in the amount of health they provide + the later recipes all provide additional buffs to your character to further help combat.
    3. Use multiple weapons. As soon as you reach sacrament you have access to 2 healing runes (I think they might have added the second in the first patch.) use them. You optain a plethora of focus potions + can craft them, AND you gain focus from smacking enemies. That's arguably better than an Estus flask/rechargable healing pot. Pretty early on I wanted a second weapon simply to have access to more runes to play with as well as playing around with the gem slots on common gear.
    4. There are also gems (again you get these early) that provide healing on kill or block. Use the upgrade system, and gem system to make a common weapon more powerful..or again just use more than 1 weapon set. If you're low on health swap to a focus generating/healing set and play more cautiously until you have your health back.
Like I said, I think you have a playstyle problem here and/or treating the game as if its strictly a Souls-like and not its own thing inspired by souls and ARPGs. Instead of making the game more like one game because "its annoying to have to grab materials", find a way to fix the problem within the confines of the existing design. Be more diligent when exploring, grab more food items and try to conserve. Play better. The game doesnt put you in a permanent fail state if you die to a boss. Go back to an easy area clear it and collect all the mushrooms, and herbs (buy from vendors as well), upgrade the tavern and you get heals.

  • @KozzyDaViking
    @KozzyDaViking Před měsícem

Thinking about the issue of having a finite number of non regenerating healing items and bosses, one system that could work that exists in most ARPGs is have the boss drop healing items at various milestones in the fight. For example, Diablo 3 has healing pools in the boss room that regenerate when you get the boss down to a certain health. This is assuming that Moon Studios want to keep the finite healing item system. Otherwise an Estus system would be better.

Just an hour ago I quickly found myself selling gear just to be able to afford a few mushrooms to make heals in hopes I simply had a chance of beating the first boss. Not to mention my gear started breaking. I was overall weaker everytime I stepped into the ring. Luckily I won but that cemented a negative connotation with using heals, managing equipment, fearing for lack of money so I won’t spend. And then resources like mushrooms don’t respawn. I think you should have a minimum low tier food that refreshes in your inventory that you can upgrade the number and quality of as you progress through the game. Like estus flask, but with food. Simple solution and opens the door for fun activities you can go out of your way to do in order to upgrade your respawnable food. It also wouldn't take away the benefit of high tier food that you can still grind for and use in the high difficulty situations. Basically OPs idea but you don't have to go to town

So one mistake I've seen on this video is that you can in fact switch your items on the fly. You DO NOT have to open your inventory to do so. There is a system in the game that allows you to do it on the fly and it is explained to the player as you go through the tutorial and beginning stages of the game. Also, in my opinion, I feel that the only ARPG aspect that this game has is solely on the gear side and that's it.

I'd argue the estus flask would make the game easier and antithetical to it being punishing. They also clearly havent really tried much, there are healing runes available from a vendor in the town as soon as you find it. Slot one into a weapon and have it as back up, all it costs is focus, which is generated easily in combat and through the plethera of focus potions (also craftable) that you can use. There are also gems that give health on kill/block and random gear that can get that effect and/or regen.

problems with items breaking down, HINT check the rune vender.
Need food to stay alive, try health on hit on your weapon and increase that with a gem, if you are smart you try and find health and stamina on hit on your weapon with extra health gem that gives you additional health on hit, i'm almost a tank with extreme low item weight and less stamina costs on armour and rings.
Getting nocked over edges, maybe you should not attack right away but maybe you should position yourself so the monster has the drop on his back so you can nock him over the edge.
Potions have not even used a single one i just sell everything that has to do with potions and food crafting.
Also pay attention to your items, what negative an item might have, it may have high damage but you lose max health by x points, or stamina increased on each hit, etc etc.
Sure there are issues, like buyback option at venders, the remove gem or rune, as far i can see you can remove the gem or rune but destroys your item, i want to destroy the gem or rune instead and keep my item, have not been able to do that yet!!
but we wait and see i'm sure they find a solution to it soon.
This is not your tipical hack and slash game like diablo or poe, you need to play it smart in so many ways, attack to soon and you get nocked of an edge or get a brutal beating when you attack to many monsters at once, you can take them on one by one by luring one away of push it away.

Another "side fix" for the food system, if they want to keep it, could be to fully commit to make it an "estus" system - as in, you can only equip so many food items at a time, and they are refilled at a checkpoint, kind of like if your character is provisioning between their attempts. Kinda like monster hunter... And like bloodborne. Because yes, the bloodborne system sucked as well, but not THIS much.
They could even then have it share the same slots with ulitity consumables, opening up design space.
This would also eliminate the need for the "food cooldown", as it is now limited by quantity and not time, which is much, much less frustrating.
Similar thing for the repair: why not make it an item, in addition (or replacement) to the money cost? It could be a common item that drops fairly often and repairs your equipment on use, so you could also use it during combat.
As for the inventory, there's really no reason not to have it exactly like a normal souls like. None. Maybe for the personal inventory of your character is ok, being an arpg, but not the chests you store your items in. That makes absolutely no sense.

its okay to have estus consumed and not resupplied, we have such setups in deamon souls and bloodbornes, but both game the "estus" drops at high droprate and recovers a bunch, as well as don't need to find a some kind of stupid fire pit to make those. like bloodborne, its hard but you can literally get 99 blood vein within 10mins of grinding and that taken account into the drops on the way, these 99 veins could last may be for 10h or even longer. As for the limited healing, its clear to me that plenty of people havent played demon souls and bloodborne, because the system was the same there. I never found the game too hard, but *I fricking hate* my gear breaking due to any reason. It's not a fun mechanic. Especially if it can happend during bossfights(which did not happen to me but I don't envy the poor sod that it happened to), and especially when you're expected to mine out hundreds of materials but your tool only allows you to gather a limited amount of resources before it breaks, and especially when you gear breaks from falling too hard, y'know, in a game that has platforming as one of its core activities. I hate having to run back and repair, it's time that takes me away from doing what I actually enjoy, which is exploring and fighting. And I guess I like the story too in this game.

I just don't see how they're going to add enough content in a year seeing how complex this game is. And by complex I mean, lots of hand painted textures, lots of animations, complicated level design, interesting enemy NPCs and so on. *It seems to me* like if they wanna keep the same level of quality as they have til now, it'll take at least 2 years to add enough content to the game to call it a finished product. This game need some series improvement, 1, the lag and loading is so crazy, 2. So many quality of life, like why can’t you sell stuff from chest? Where are any icons to know where I’m going, where do I even store my stuff? It overwhelms you to hard at the start making it feel rushed and intimating, a massive improvement could be that as soon as you beat first boss you get a home, a small base so you can store stuff and get yourself settle, but no hell I don’t even know how you get a home it doesn’t tell you just that you can, but this just feel like a mess, along with some balancing issues and enemies who just do not stop attacking, not knowing what climbable and easily falling off cliffs and ledges, and equipment weight! What the point in getting great stuff when you can’t even fully equip it! They should just remove the weight limit completely like an actual Diablo game, I hate having to put point into that when I could be putting them into others that help me survive this game! let us play and use what we want, this game has worth I can see it, gameplay if repetitive and too sluggish (they need way more stamina or fast stamina regen to make it more fast pace, feels like dark souls 1 and 2 here) is fun, just some more guides and lot of quality of life stuff

I'm new to this type of game, only bought it because it was described as an ARPG, and am desperately trying to learn it because the story so far is good, but it's not fun to be faced with such a punishing catch-22.

Durability is the shit'est mechanic in any game not once have i thought "ya know what would make this game more enjoyable, durability" fucking take it out of your games

Gear durability never really enhances an experience. It's always just a pain that forces you to stop doing the fun thing that your doing and spend money on something that feels bad. It just seems like there must be a way to achieve the same thing (fatigue perhaps?) rather than a really feel bad system

fun thing to die contantly? i find fun in not dying and keeping my durability up. you should try that too and if you cant then learn to play the game and stop complaining

@ketsi3079 haven't played it. I'm just saying durability never makes things better, there are better game design options that feel better, but break down the flow of progress in the same way that the developers desire. But having the Orphan of Kos, Sword saint Isshin, Melinea and Modern Fatallis all as solo kills hanging on my belt I doubt that this game will cause me any issues. Do try to READ the comments before writing an assanine response in the future little one.

I personally find every game that I play that has a harsh durability system much more engaging than one without

Food farming is quite annoying, dark souls never had this issue as it always gave you estus after dyin. no travel between the bonfires makes it impossible to "do something else" otherwise you have to backtrack tons :/
Love the game but it's fundamentally frustrating
Edit: commented this before watching the video, lmao you exactly put down about the only thing I disliked about the game
