- Never got around the covering the Florida, and seeing as I apparently just broke the WR in damage in the ship, might as well do it at the same time. An incredibly squishy ship with poor healing and a huge citadel, but wielding the powerful Battlecruiser dispersion.

Flamu could you make videos on ships like Lion or Drake? I remember you made videos on the RN special captain on Daring and Conqueror.. what about RN CA? Is It worth on those?
For the series of videos about positioning, after BBs (Yamato e Jean Bart) and these recent ones with mogami, brindisi and the next one, could you make the same on dds? Like gearing and z52 that are 2 old hybrid dds, a bit victims of powercreep.
I know these are lots of request but i'm learning a lot from your videos (thanks to the brindisi video, trying to apply the tips you gave, i improved my playstile on roon, getting higher result overall) and i find you the best content creator for wows.. by watching tour video on Georgia i decided to buy the ship with coal and still i don't regret the choice.
Thanks for your work to improve the community and the player base with tips, tactics and knowledge of the best and the worst of many ships.

What do you think about the proposal by WG to seriously improve battleship secondary dispersion for low tiers?
I had the same experience where an Alaska shish-kabobbed me before I had even got a shot off, needless to say, my time in match was cut short. I've been grinding it to see how it can perform against other BBs. Just want to show you can take a 'meh' boat an make it work.

You got to admit Flamu, there was an unbelievable amount of straight sailing broadsides in that game. Still a nice play though.
That’s true of all high damage games. If you’re going to rack up the big numbers, you need the enemy team to cooperate by being very, very dumb. You also need your own team to be equally dumb so that you don’t win too fast. You can be the best player ever, but you still need a lot of luck to get numbers like these.

Oh yeah, the American KGV. The original NC planned under treaty regulations were limited to 12 356mm guns, like with KGV on its 10 356mm (rather than the original plan of 9 38.1cm). They managed to lift the treaty for a little more leway and got the NC we know today with 9 406mm guns. Although NC with her uninclined 305mm belt armour only designed to resist her originally planned 356mm guns (to tank the 356mm kongous it was meant to counter), was unable to resist her newer 406mm guns from range. You could say the NC would be a battlecruiser (although the term is outdated) as she lacked the armour to resist its own guns.
The SDs and Iowa’s recieved the inclined belt armour to be able to resist the 406mm guns, but even they were no longer able to resist their own guns the moment the mk8 superheavy shells became standard issue. In the end the 3 Fast battleships of the US, we’re battlecruisers, but we can’t really call them that because the term is outdated and no longer applies, but for the lack of a better word let’s just call it that.
They also planned for 3x4 356mm guns on the KGV, but it was deemed to add to much weight too high in the ship. Also, what are you saying about the term "battlecruiser" being outdated? It's a poorly defined term, partly because there's different ways to make a battlecruiser (I think it more or less breaks down into German and British styles of battlecruiser), but it strikes me as a useful category. To me, a vital part of the definition is that it either sacrifices protection or firepower compared to a battleship so that it can always achieve cruiser levels of speed. Though, as a general trend, they always have worse armour than battleships, and mostly have a worse armament. The "fast battleship" is a capital ship that can achieve the "holy trinity", similar to how a main battle tank does. You can say that battlecruisers became outdated with the advent of the fast battleship perhaps, but that doesn't invalidate the term
@@tommeakin1732 It’s a very loose definition indeed. It can even be argued that HMS Hood was the first fast battleship, despite it being the most famous “battlecruiser” ever built. Broadly speaking, I prefer to define the term by individual ships and by the role that ship filled. If it is expected to fight other battleships evenly (Hood, North Carolina, Kongo), it’s a fast battleship. If it’s not expected to fight other battleships and would instead run for the hills (Scharnhorst, Dunkerque, Alaska, Renown), it’s a battlecruiser. Scharnhorst’s sinking by Duke of York was a rather clear (if belated, given Jutland) example of why battlecruisers shouldn’t engage battleships. Hood’s own sinking is a bad example, given that it happened as a result of freakish bad luck.
Nevertheless, it’s all completely arbitrary. The real world rarely confirms to our neat categories. Reality is rude like that.
@@tommeakin1732 Fair enough. Battlecruisers may have ended obsolete to Fast Battleships, but I guess the term can still apply here.
Technically it wasn't so much the treaty being lightened or renegotiated, it was Japan and Italy pulling out of the treaty that put the escalator clause into effect removing some of the restrictions like gun caliber that existed just in case somebody would actually leave it.
@@Cailus3542 Broadly I would go by the British model of Battlecruiser to mean a Big Gun Capitalship that cannot reasonably engage it's peers with reasonable safety because of their armor. This is why I refer to the Dunkerques as Battlecruisers due to their 11" and 12" resistant armor despite the fact that officially they were only "Ships of the Line" under French classification. If Florida could withstand 14" guns, there is an argument to be made that she could be a Battleship since there were 8 Big Guns Capital Ships in Japan and 2 German Battleships, 5 British Battleships, 2 French Battlecruisers and all non-Littorio Italian Battleships that used 14" guns or less.

I actually really like the Florida. Even though she is extremely squishy if you give broadside, she has good gun angles especially firing rearward so you can stay somewhat angled. Her AA is good, especially for the tier, and she has great dispersion. She’s a cruiser killer for sure, as I’ve had extremely good results firing on them. I actually got my first kraken in her as well. She can be frustrating at times though when you get clapped by a battleship you could have tanked in most other battleships. Overall I like her, but she is flawed
This is another FANTASY ship The actual USS Florida was a much earlier design than the ship shown here. It was launched in 1910, and armed with 10 12 inch guns in 5 turrets.. I wish WOW wouldn't use the names of actual ships like this. It is galling to those of us who are into ACTUAL naval history. She was sister to the USS Utah, which had been converted to a training ship, stripped of several of her 12 inch turrets, and armed with various anti-aircraft weapons,. and was sunk at Pearl Harbor on 07DEC41. Florida herself was scrapped in 1932 under the terms of the Washington Naval Treaty.
I took a big jump and bought Florida rather Massa as others suggested cause I'm more of fan of sniper battleships firepower and stay away as fast as I after hitting on something. Watching this made me realized that this ship is perfect for me! I will practice religiously in co-op before I will let myself be killed XD. I am a Fuso main before I bought Florida and here goes nothing! Thanks for this video!

Also killed a Norca with my Thunderer today. 50k in the first salvo, than 7k in the 2nd. Was still al dev strike.
@@giantdwarfulf the game crashed in game for me. Ships were invisible, scoreboard was bugged, speedometer said 95 knots, sound went absolute mad. Torpedoes stopped working. Still got sail and kill ships
Not enough meth and gators
High damage games are so rare because you really need idiots on both sides. You need the red idiots to give you loads of broadside and you need the green idiots to a) miss and b) die in a slow but steady pace so the game goes as long as possible. If your team dies too quick or the enemy does your chances vanish.
I love the Florida. It's squishy, but I still love it.
I have a question for anyone. How do u get the Petro detection range below 12km? With Concealment expert + mod +camo I can only get it to 12.2km? What have i missed?
53 games and 58% win rate in my Florida.
It's a good fun ship that bullies cruisers. My main challenge comes with kiting when bottom tiered. The reload time combined with the armor issue usually results in me being pummeled.
I still enjoy the ship, I just wish the base reload was better.
I do mot recall ever using HE in the Florida.

For me, I feel if this had 30s reload, I can give it a passing grade. I chose the AA over the range because Armageddon is to much fun, lol.

Some of my.clanmates and I found that the ship is really fun in a group of 2 floridas.. as CV's are quite common these days, having 2 together on flank shits down a CV's ability to assist on that flank...
No ship is perfect, but I love my Florida it's exactly what I wanted in terms of offensive capabilities

It is suppose to be a north carolina that was under 2nd london treaty rgulations with 14inch guns but us went nah fuck that japan is doing it as well and decided to use 16inch guns instead

uptiered? no problem! just tag along a tier 8 or 9 bb and support them using your range, speed, and AA to be basically a heavy cruiser support vessel. never close range with other bbs.

Last match I took my Florida into a one on one brawl with a Bismarck. It didn't end well. Everyone knows how squishy the Florida is and they seem to queue up to take pot shots at it.
Anyone else find the idea of battle cruiser dispersion being better than battleships ironic considering the performance of the British battleships at Jutland?

Florida isn't actually a tier 7 BB. It's playstyle is more that of a tier XI supercruiser
I have fun in it, but it gets citadeled super easy
I was in my New Orleans playing co-op shortly after the Florida came out and there was a Florida on my team, which meant there was an AI Florida on the enemy team. I caught it broadside and figured I'd throw AP at it. To my utter delight I saw multiple citadel hits. I got 22 AP shell hits on it for 55k damage, and ended the match with 23 citadel hits.

The thing about BBs playing passive is that there's so much shit that pushes them into this playstyle. The HE and fire spam as well as the on demand crossfires with CVs just makes it so worthless to push in. BBs are basically xp piñatas at this point
asia server have 2 players at 232k and 231k damage tho, while other server at 210-215k
The vulnerability seems strange, this was supposed to be a down-tiered NC hull, and while the NC is also prone to being side-citadeled, I've had tons of games in it where you bow-tank and just get no pens while surviving.
It's almost like the gun damage that you mentioned, there's no logical reason why an improved design over a New Mexico or Arizona would have lower performance, it's like it was purposefully gimped.

I swear, after 14k games I still don't know how a ship can have bad sigma, not-so-special maximum dispersion (204 m, as per wiki), but also "battlecruiser dispersion". I thought that meant good sigma...
Does it mean your dispersion doesn't increase as much with the range you're shooting at?
Not sure what you are used to playing but having 204m dispersion is some of the best for battleships

I think its something about the probability of your shots hitting the center of your circle. The sigma value describes how big the oval is, in which the shells could land.

Dispersion: how wide the shell impact area is. It is an ellipse determined by two values (vertical and horizontal dispersion). Generally speaking: the smaller the guns, the better the dispersion. Thus, DDs and CLs have better dispersion than CAs and BBs. Battlecruisers have middle ground dispersion between battleships and CAs, usually, so a BB with battlecruiser dispersion is actually very very accurate.
Sigma: the chance that the shells will hit the center of the dispersion ellipse. Basically, high sigma leads to tighter shell grouping and more shells going where you want them to go.
However, good dispersion is usually better than high sigma, because the guns are more reliable.
I fucking loath the Florida.
In other words, were it a beer it would be sort of a "North Carolina lite" without the overmatch you get with 406mm guns?
Bit sad to think that a BB with a citadel that is punishable if you are so careless to expose flat broadsides is seen as no longer being a real BB. In earlier days, just about ALL BBs suffered that fate OTHER than the Germans, and they got the ability to largely avoid citadels but paid for that with junk dispersion and taking frequently very large standard pen damage instead.
Agree with you about the game not needing more camping BBs, even if this is seen as most people's idea of a BC.
Of course WG hasn't helped things one bit by putting that dumpster fire 'new' USN BB line that might have been interesting if they could be extremely tanky and able to brawl yet of course be very slow to do so. The idea of something slowly bulldozing into a firefight and being decidedly difficult to stop would've been MUCH more fun plus what the game needs, but I guess WG doesn't want to have anything challenge the hilariously nonsense Soviet BB line.
Having AA that can do something is an interesting change. I remember back in Beta and on release (I played from Alpha all the way through) one of the curious characteristics of the Colobado was it was an AA monster (just as well, it was a shocking pile of garbage in every other respect; I wonder how many people realise the current one has been buffed?).
Kind of stinks that so many of these more interesting ships are premium. It's as though WG's game design philosophy is "You can grind like an OCD monkey and get some decent things, but if you want to avoid having to play our game with stock or garbage ships we put here and there to 'encourage' you to think on it, just throw money at us and play some interesting/powerful ships without all the hassle".
Oh, wait, that's pretty much exactly what it is, just as it became more and more in WoT years ago. Witness the latest nonsense Musashi and Yamato for extreme examples.
CC citadel RNG must be Premium Account +200%.
In general it is more of a low tier nc. Sure the overmatch is not there but at least it is fast and fun.
But the NC is not fast, it's probably the slowest T8 BB. Also it can't be overmatched while it can overmatch anything that not T8 up BBs.
None of these thing the Florida can do.

A carrier that throws away an entire squadron of HE rocket fighters on a single pass on a battleship is probably not going to be a threat to your team that match.

The problem is currently t7 is unplayable due to t9 plague and this is probably the worst battleship in the game when uptiered.
It all depends on how you play. My 16 year old son is in his 3rd year playing this game, and both of us have taken VIIs into IX battles frequently and scored at the top a majority of battles (and that's in Random, not COOP). Certain ships are RUTHLESS against any tier, like Nagato, Myoko (my favorite VIIs), Gneisenau.... The King George V was a tough learn for me, but when I figured it out even that is a ship to be reckoned with in the right hands. You just need to learn strategy. Positioning.... When to fire, when to not. When to engage, when to kite, and when to support. Learn when to hit the repair and when not to. Even the Omaha in the right hands is deadly.

How are the playerbase honestly gonna figure out how accurate a ships is via information and not gameplay when obviously the sigma, that doesn't even show in game, doesn't matter? 🤔

When i played through that ship the dispersion was on par with German BBs like Bismarck.

Typically though when i have to face a Sinop it has incredible dispersion and hits like a truck.
All i got was shitty dispersion and overpens. Absolute garbage experience.

This seems to be a common theme for WG. Anything Soviet is consistently OP and anything US is consistently UP or average at best.
I won't spend any money on this because of the unfair treatment that they give to anything that isn't Russian. I'd love to collect US ships, but it's just not worth the money to buy a whole bunch of artificially nerfed ships.
