The *overclock* didn't seem like a good idea but could still have been a nice feature in the game if handled well. There are so many cars that could be more useful if they had a little boost in a few stats. For example:
- _McLaren P1_ with *50* handling would be so much better
- a _jaguar C-X75_ with an acceleration of *78.5* might be great
- an _H2 speed_ with a top speed around *325* could be interesting
- a _Trion Nemesis_ with better nitro...
- And so on...
The _Huracan EVO Spyder_ is already a car that can easily take you to legend league , the point of overclocking it doesn't make sense.
The game has so many cars that this should be the perfect opportunity to make them shine and bring some diversity to the multiplayer instead of seeing the same vandas, huracan, valhala over and over again.
And for the overclock pass, it's just like any other pass in the game. It should only give you a few extras and save you time while on the other hand, someone who doesn't have the pass should be able to get the same without the extra by grinding a lot for a long time.
Chips should be available from Legend Pass (free and premium) and daily events, just like season tokens were.
PS:
In addition. The last update broke my game, there is a bug with _Formula E GEN 2_ which crashes the game on steam, it can no longer load. If you can shed some light on this it would be very helpful for me and a few people experiencing the issue since the small update after the main update.

also the crashing issue (i use the microsoft store) i just uninstalled the game and reinstalled it try doing the same for the steam version
The game is dying, i joined A9 10 months ago and wasted 300 usd so far and i regret it so much, many friends deleted the game + game data
Other than the daily pass. Nothing seems worth much .

i joined asphalt 9 in 2019 the features have so many changes such as car rebalance challanger,season pass and more
I played Clash Royale and I learned after how they "balanced" the game to not put money towards leveling up cards. I grind my ass off just for them to nerf my work. I have not and will not put money on any other game that has micro transactions after that.
I recently left the game after playing it for nearly 5 years now. This was caused by Overclock, and some other things in and out of the game. I really wish they would focus more on keeping players coming to the game, especially since IOS is getting smaller, and has a decent run with ESL events. I will say, there is great potential, but they keep messing up player's needs with their wealth need.

Problem with time is not server time/client time, but that it always starts/ends at 10:00 CET (or equivalent in your timezone). That might be based on server time, but basing it on client time is not solving the problem if it's still a fixed start/end. It just should be active 24h from the moment you apply it, disregarding client/server time at all.
I like overclock, but, since I play TD on Windows 11 (won't drift without it), I don't win every race at all (such as vs very competent manual drivers - hahaha) and have still won without over-clock, such as the Porsche 935 (mine is 6 starts).
For fun, I bought the OC pass - all applicable cars OC'ed all the time. I know nothing of using chips for OC.
I am one of the newer players you have mentioned you like to race sometimes - hahaha.

I really hope overclock chips can have a daily even like credits heist, which is a good thing for me because I don’t think putting a pass is a good idea. To me, this type of tuning system is reliable for daily events that contains a leaderboard and clash, but for grinding MP for series score, kinda defeats the purpose. And yes, I want the timer set to the players POV of applying X amount of chips on a certain car instead of the server time zone where you are in. But hey, I did put 1 of my ideas on improving so I recommend everyone thinking about what would make it worth it and how much we can get for free.
I mean if you only get 15 minutes before the server reset time, then just wait out those 15 minutes and THEN overclock? Unless you only get 15 minutes of play everyday, then i don't see the issue with that. Btw they did it that way so you don't play two GP rounds in a row with the same OC. (The reset time is the time of the GP round reset)
Even trying to look objectively at the best case scenario, I don't see what OC brings to the table. (Other than a way for GL to squeeze out more money of course.) I mean suppose you consistently get enough chips as a f2p player for the situations where that extra half a second actually matters (clash, gps, car hunt riots). All you've done is make the game more complicated by adding another resource that nobody asked for. At worst you alienate a significant proportion of your playerbase, some percentage of whom will quit. While whales make all the money, if all the free players leave, the game will die and the whales will soon follow. In principle I don't have a problem paying for a season pass to support ongoing development; but the rest of the game is so damn predatory that I don't feel comfortable buying anything. At this point I'm only still here because of sunk cost fallacy and the friends I made along the way.
Most people on reddit have been saying it's not the worst thing since like you said the stat bump is so minor it barley changes anything. More skilled players can still easily beat OC'ed cars. More or less clash and GP will be the deciding factors. And quite frankly the idea of paying for an advantage is nauseating even to me, someone to spends too much in game.

I'm at 79 cars, I'm quitting at 100 (yeah, I'm a bit OCD so I need to get it to 100).
I quit after 5 years and 139 cars f2p. Ended with getting the jesko
Haven't used any of my free chips yet. Just saving them indefinitely for now.
I'd rather they make the effect of the chips quantity specific rather than time based as regards the number of races with can eke out of this new booster.
If you use it for any decent S Class Car by default with only 3 fuel points every six hours without spending Tokens on refuels, then what's the point of even bothering to use them? 🤷
But at if I know how many races I can get from OCs specifically regardless of any active Daily or Special Event, I can plan my garage better to use strategically.
So for me, the smarter play as a free player is not to use them at all until I have a large quantity of OCs. 😏
This feature only makes me question if the devs is on "another reality".

chips will ruin the grand prix for f2p,just think about the current gp with d class elite car, where miliseconds can make the difference of win the key.worst patch ever for a9
They need to turn of crashing in multiplayer mode so the dirty players wouldn't have anything to cheat with.
I think the time zone problem is not gonna get fixed because if gameloft changed the timezone from server sided to client that will be the happiest day for hackers lol😂
I buy Legend Pass but I'll NEVER buy overclock. We all get that someone is paid to find new ways to suck money. That brings no new interest to the game, on the contrary.....

It brings nothing to the table other than the possibility of GL making more money. I can only see negatives and no positives. No one seems to actually care about the negative impact overclock could have. Game is dying.

If anyone unironically still plays this game, i feel sorry for them. I got addicted to this game in middle school, spent over $100 on my mom's card and now i just wish i could take that time and money back.
