    Great video thanks for sharing. I don't understand for the life of me why many outboard owners insist on putting automotive oil in their expensive investment when the outboard manufactures, mechanics and dealerships tell you not to. Just spend a few dollars more and use an approved marine oil. You can't go wrong with the factory oil.

    The finger dab of oil is so it lubricates the rubber gasket. Without it, the gasket could tear when it comes into contact with the engine block, and you keep tightening it down, which could then cause an oil leak.

    A good tip I learnt about draining motor oil. Is putting a no holes plastic bag over the oil drain pan so the pan is inside the bag, so that it catches the oil keeping your pan clean and you can remove the bag containing all your oil. Cheers

    Hi Mike, the new boat looks great, what dual prop size are you running on the 350? I'm running 15.5x22.5 on my Suzuki 350 with my SeaPro239... awesome combination....SeaPro + Suzuki Dual Prop ....SeaPro rules....Regards, Steve Petix

      @@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS whoa! 26" ! What rpm are you hitting ? I was thinking of moving up to 24" how do you think 26" wheels would run on the deep V hull?

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  Před 5 lety

      I think 26 would be too big for a deep V. They do a good job pairing them up at the plant. With the 12” jack plate I can hit 6000 even with 3 guys and moderate load. 54 mph. Full load full fuel and 5 guys I can hit 5600ish. 50 mph. Haven’t run wide open with only myself yet.

      @@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS thanks for the advice Mike, I'm hitting about 48mph at 5600 rpm also have a 6 inch jackplate installed by SeaPro. I think the culprit is multi layer ablative bottom paint, I keep the boat at a slip on LI Sound all season, so I had to use anti fouling, I may strip it off next year and try the semi hard ablative that Petit makes....I also read some guys are using the 19.5 inch prop, anyway ...thanks for your feedback...going wreck hunting for Sea Bass tomorrow....

    Hey Mike about a month ago I asked you about a 248 with a 200 Suzuki. I bought it and love it. Does just fine for me. Few questions if you don’t mind. Had 47 hrs when purchased. Now 81 hrs. Should I change the oil now or at 100 hrs? Where do you buy all your stuff for oil change, spark plugs , foot gear lube? Came with a lowrance hds 12 live but has through hull transducer only. I need a transducer on the transom. Looking to buy another hds 12 so I will have two on the console. Is the through hull transducer ok to keep for the graph that came with the boat and get a transom mount for the second graph. I’ve seen the 3D structure scan box but not sure if I need it. I’ve never owned lowrance before so I’m kinda clueless on all the add ons. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  Před 11 měsíci

      Suzuki recommends 100hrs, but they said you can a bit change sooner if you want. You can get the lube and filters online. The book has all the lube weight requirements, I don’t remember them off hand. What transducer model is it?

      @@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS not sure what model transducer it is. I probably need to talk with a local dealer and see if they can recommend what I need Have you had any problems with your live well lids When it gets hot outside mine seem like they are expanding and want close back down.

      @@stuartjenkins9151 unfortunately dealers don’t really know much about sonar and transducers yet they will still tell you what you need 😂. You probably have a B60. Sea Pro puts one in every boat as basic equipment for its reliability but you can upgrade when ordering the boat. Open the battery lazzarette and read the label on its back. I had my stern lid get stuck once in extreme heat. Ran water over it and it popped open. It was in a hot parking lot all day. Never sticks on the water.

    Been over two years now. How's the motor holding up? I've heard stories of the early DF350s blowing lower unit seals religiously and other powerhead issues. Some owners got lucky with the early DF350s and never had any such issues with them.

  • @clevelleful
    @clevelleful Před 2 lety +1

    What size boat is this? I'm considering is the DF350 will be enough for a Blazer Bay 2700? Comparable to the Yamaha XF425 the difference is 8 mph (Top End) with almost 1 MPG difference at cruising speeds in favor of the Suzuki.

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  Před 2 lety +1

      It will be more than enough for your 2700. With the high compression of the Suzuki it feels like the torque of a diesel. My boat is nearly 25 ft with a 26” prop. You just need to prop down to a 24” or 21”. That motor will launch that boat👍👍

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  Před 4 lety

      Really love it. It’s a very “different” type of motor than I’ve ever used. The high compression and dual props make it behave like a diesel in a way. Incredible torque and power when fully and over loaded, top end empty and full are nearly the same which I absolutely love because of the rough conditions and heavy loads I see. It’s not a top end race motor though, it’s a serious work horse.
