In the southwestern region of China lies Yunnan province. Dubbed as China's hidden paradise, follow our adventures through the lesser-known cities of Kunming, Dali, Lijiang and Shangri-la!
------------------------------------------------------
KUNMING CITY
00:51 - Yunnan Nationalities Village
Yunnan province is home to 26 different minority ethnic groups and you can experience all of them right here! (FUN FACT: China has a total of 56 ethnic groups! Talk about diversity!)
01:04 - Dragon Gate, Western Hills
Skillfully carved on a large natural rock, it is said that once you enter the dragon gate, you will become famous and successful. Who can say no to good luck?!
01:20 - Green Lake Park
Here at one of the most beautiful parks in Kunming city, you can catch locals engaging in recreational activities. It’s the perfect place to absorb the Kunming culture!
01:31 - Shilin Stone Forest
Epic or what? This 400 sq km-wide area of towering limestones (all natural!) was considered the “First Wonder of the World” to the Chinese. Marvel at the different karst formation around this stone forest!
01:41 - Jiuxiang Scenic Region
Explore the cluster of karst caves in this region, the largest of such complex in China! Here you’ll get to explore a bat cave, lying dragon cave, grand lion hall and fairy field, among others.
DALI
01:50 - Three Pagodas
Three impressive 1,800-year-old pagodas that are still standing to this day and are a symbol of the history of Dali City.
02:04 - Dali Ancient City
A thousand-year-old city with so much history and culture where the past and present coexist.
LIJIANG
02:23 - Old Town of Lijiang
A town with a history going back more than 1,000 years, it remains largely untouched and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
02:48 - Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
Scale this 5,596-metre giant! (SIKE! You can actually take a cable car up 4506 metres!)
02:51 - Blue Moon Valley
As its name suggests, it's an extremely blue river meandering through a lush valley of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain! Definitely a must-visit!
02:58 - Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (4506-metre peak)
Get a bird's eye view of Lijiang from on top the most southerly snowcapped mountain in the Northern Hemisphere!
03:07 - Impression Lijiang
Catch this magnificent outdoor singing and dancing performance demonstrating the tradition and lifestyle of the local ethnic people! You even get a picturesque view of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as the background!
03:12 - Black Dragon Pool
A great place to see the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain but an even better place to take sick IG pictures!
03:23 - Tiger Leaping Gorge
If you're all about that hiking/fitspo life then we recommend going on this 2-day-1-night hike up the Tiger Leaping Gorge! The views are out of this world! That, we guarantee!
SHANGRI-LA
04:16 - Songzanlin Lamasery
Visit the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple complex in Yunnan Province!
04:26 - Dukezong Ancient City
It is the largest and best-preserved Tibetan city among China's Tibetan counties!
04:40 - Balagezong Scenic Area
Soak in the sights and sound of this beautiful area and discover its unique beauty with rich Tibetan culture!

Another place to check out in Yunnan is Xishuangbanna. It's very tropical and the people there are similar are related to Thai people. It has an amazing night market and beautiful botanical gardens.
🤯 Xishuangbanna looks amazing! Gonna add it to our travel bucket list
Hi Grant. My fiancé & I are planning to visit Xishuangbanna in April 2022. Any recommendations to do & not do will be greatly appreciated.
Best description of Yunnan I've seen, to-date - and I lived in Kmg. Thank you: awesome.
Going there after pandemic. Beautiful!
Start your China visit by flying straight to Kunming, then go to Lijiang, minimum. Food in Kunming is bad azz. If time permits, see Dali, Zhongdian, the Yuan rice terraces and Xishuangbana. If u have time left over, than go to highly overrated Beijing or Shanghai 😂.
@@Lfg117bad food or nice food in yunnan?
Hi ladies & thank you for sharing your great adventures with the world. I absolutely love beautiful China & your 3 sayings to help lead people to true happiness. I am planning my trip through Yunnan for April 2022 to experience many of the same sites & culture. Beautiful China never stops impressing me regardless of city or countryside. Wishing y’all joy, health & continuous blessings.

Yunnan Province is the best province
I have been living in DALI for 3 years
Been here before pandemic in 2019. Such a beautiful place in China. Will repeat next time
Hope we could all visit again soon :D
Welcome to my hometown Yunnan
Great video.
How do you travel between those places - by train or buses? Do they accept cash for street food?
Also is accommodation easy to come by in Dali, LIjiang & Shangri-La, else is day trip sufficient? What accommodation would you recommend in Kun Ming and those touristy venues - Lijiang etc?
You should know that the town of Shangari-La is not the 'real' Shangari-La. The name was changed from Zhong Dien for tourist reasons.
The 'real' Shangari-La, although mythical, is said to Meli-Xue Shan far further west on the border of Myanmar, Assam, Tibet.
Our hometown ❤️
Very beautiful place!
@@thetravelintern yah
Good scenic and informational video, but the music is exhausting
what were the transports you used to travel to each destination in yunnan?

Because your ancestors are from there
Live in sichuan , neednto figure out if my "health code "on phone will work. Places are turning away (foreigners ) "loawhai" downright hostile often.even though I been here almost 3 years ,they think I am just a tourist.
We would like to go there. Do you have local driver recommendations? Thanks

amazing video, Yunnan looks magical indeed. I am set to move to China and wanted to go to Shenzhen or Guangzhou but this place might make me reconsider. Is there an active night life in Yunnan?
You will never be disappointed with the nightlife and the best street food in Yunnan.
that looked so exciting. How long would you say it all took?
It depends on how quickly you like to travel, but we took 2 weeks to cover everything (and a little more!) you can check out the itinerary here!

We recommend DIY but you can also book local agents to be safe! You can check out our itinerary here: thetravelintern.com/china-yunnan-itinerary-kunming-dali-lijiang-shangrila/

Which month is the best to visit Yunnan in order not to be trapped by rainy season?
Summer is a rainy season, like July and August. But unlike Guangdong, rain in Yunnan usually won’t last long in a day, it usually stop in half an hour.

yunnan is not a part of china
The people of Yunnan have called themselves Chinese for centuries, but because someone random said that, everyone will be in shock😂😂😂😂🫵
