- My best tips on staying safe when traveling as a solo traveler!
I have traveled around the world solo for over 9 years, and these are my very best methods to keep me and my belongings safe when I am on the road.
Solo travel is one of the best gift you can ever give to yourself. It's the chance to be totally selfish (in the best possible way), and IMO, the best way to come back to yourself and live life authentically. If you are thinking about taking that first solo trip, make sure to watch this vlog before you go!

I almost always travel alone. Because that way you can do whatever you want. You don’t feel bad about making a compromise or making your travel companion/s make a compromise for you.
Look up the public transit website of the city you are going to beforehand. I see hundreds of tourists totally ignore this option as if it doesn't exist. In most places in the world, government-run public transit services are one of the safest ways to travel as there is near zero risk of being scammed.
I have advice for #1 which agrees with you. I was a sex-offender therapist in a prison. One prolific rapist I worked with raped women in parking lots. I asked him what he would have done if the woman had turned and looked right at him? He said that he would have just pretended that he was looking for his car. So yes, don't be the vulnerable unaware person, and stay safe.
Just came across your channel and as a boomer, love your young journey! In my day (70’s) I did not do much solo, due to what everyone said AND back then I had lots of personal fears as well as a victim vib that looking back would have attracted my being a victim lots. While I have worked many decades to heal myself, I admire how you burned off lots via traveling solo. While maybe I got to see a some amazing places of the planet as a teen due to parents who were always looking for empy beaches and surf spots CA, HI, OZ … later hiking into pristine Utah places with a boyfriend … and lots of other adventures but with others … it was a very different time … NO cell phones for starters 😂
Thank u sm for your Videos! Im 19 years old and I will travel alone at March/April. Your Videos take my fear! I‘m so excited to visit Jordan and Egypt and I hope everything will be safe. :)
I almost exclusively travel solo, domestically and internationally. Be aware of your surroundings, know the laws both written and not, and always have a plan B to bail out if you are uncomfortable. Having a local trusted contact is a definite plus in case you need help. Let those close to you know your plans and keep in touch on a scheduled basis. This applies to moth males and females.
I went from hating to travel solo to can’t wait to travel solo because of your videos - thank you !! ❤
I'm so glad!
Hi, I've always wanted to travel the world by myself to make memories and open my mind to different cultures. I'm still a teenager but it has always been a dream of mine and I hope I can be like you someday! Thank you for the useful info, I will probably save it for when I can travel someday. Also, your eyes are very beautiful btw and I love your makeup 😌
Aw thank you! If you can study abroad that’s an incredible experience.
Such an important topic! Love the videos recently I have been trying to find other solo female travel vloggers and came across this channel! Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed!
great vid & info. thanks :)
My pleasure :)
Thanks so much for the tips! Hugs from Russia! LOVE travelling alone!))
Thanks for this video.. I’ve watched several safety tip videos for solo traveling as a woman, and I think I know how to be safe, I just doubt myself. I’m so scared to be abducted. If anything, I’m hyper aware of my surroundings and I make myself paranoid. Can anyone else relate?
Research how to get from the airport to where you're going. Don't walk around in any city looking at your phone especially by the road. Drive/bicycle-by snatching increasing everywhere. Have a second card stored separately.
My granny did the dummy wallet thing in the 70s - good idea
Can you post a video regarding solo travel in Iceland? Also how do I meet new people when travelling solo?
I just started traveling solo ❤ Thank you for this! Also, I can't wait to travel to Antartica 😂
Same! One day.
Make up is 🔥🔥🔥🔥, and I’ve been following you for years and I was in just in Europe for 2 weeks and I appreciate your honesty and transparency on traveling. I was literally walking the streets of Paris and Rome at 2am and never felt more safe, but doing this in Los Angeles where I live……. Hell no….Thank you
Thanks! Also thanks for being here for years! That’s super cool and glad you had a good experience in Europe! 🙏🏻🙏🏻💜
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊 ❤🥰🥀❤🥀
Nice 👍 vlog watching fr jamaica 😎🌅🏖️
As a solo Traveller since 2015 I agree with everything you say.
Great info and tips for solo travelers. I will use your upload for my future solo traveling. Airport scams are soo common across the globe especially in emerging, developing economies. Folks should be vigilant.
Phone and wallet snatchers are also a problem in parts of Africa, I have experienced this first hand.
Yes I love the dummy wallet for this reason.
Love this advice, thank you for sharing. I would add that you tell one person that you trust where you are so that they are are able to check in with you at least every 12-24 hours and make air you are safe. Love the sweater!
It would drive me crazy to have someone checking in that often, but if it makes you comfortable then you should do whatever helps you feel best!
I never go to bars to get drunk when travelling ,and if I do ever enter a bar I hardly ever stay hours drinking its just not a safe and to go out alone in a foreign country late at night is not safe for either male or female
The dummy purse thing is such a good idea..:)
what about budget / money preparation? How do you calculate how much money to take with you and / or how to get cash in a country without being scammed?
(for men with wallets u can actually put cards etc or wallets inside ur underwear) yes it might be disgusting but it is a way to put at least ur cards save. Ofc inside pockets of trousers also exist
what is your camera rig? I assume a lot of your photos and videos are on some type of tripod since you travel solo?
Love this. Any travelling solo tips for Barcelona?
Watch your stuff closely. Pickpockets there are legendary.
If I can chip in, only wear costume jewellery nothing of value or you risk it being physically snatched off of your person.
I love traveling alone and PREFER it. I want to move organically through a place and be able to experience the people, the culture, and all the sensory things unique to an area. Having other people with me is distracting. I also don't want everything to have to be aa democratic discussion over how long we stay somewhere, what we do, whether we accept an invitation from a local or check out something we spot while there, etc. I want to be fully free to guide my experience according to my travel preferences. The only way I'd enjoy having someone with me more than being myself is if their travel style is exactly like mine. The only thing that sucks is that being female makes certain parts of the world that I really want to experience off-limits to me because of safety. Otherwise I'd love to see Lebanon, Turkey, Iran, and N. Africa.
This might seem like a silly question but how do you get to swim in the sea when you’re alone without someone taking your things?
Any tips for coping with anxiety around travelling alone for the first time? Planning to get away very soon.
Very informative videos thanks.
Quite often, especially in Southeast Asia and Southern Africa, I was staying right on the beach and locked everything in my room. I'd only go with my key. If you can't do that, take a friend you meet on the road or ask someone on the beach who seems trustworthy (usually someone I've started chatting to first) to watch your things. It might be scary until you do it. It was for me, but then I LOVED solo traveling.
I live by the beach and i'll usually:
1) look around and see if there's someone trustworthy to watch your things. usually I'll ask families who have kids around and stuff
2) put everything of value in a plastic bag and bury it under the sand beneath my towel
There is this waterproof pouch or water bag (dry bag?) You can put your belongings in them & swim with it 🩷
where is the island in your intro??
how to stay safe at a hotel as solo woman
5;33 - where is that??? what is the name of this place
Reno, Nevada 😊
I would walk alone in LA at night as long as I was not in south central or in certain areas of downtown, everywhere else in LA is not that bad and I feel like this is just negative advise from a local. Even Hollywood as rough as it is isn't that bad to walk alone at night. Sure you have homeless and nut jobs whacked out on drugs but they are rarely violent, just pass by them and don't engage... Don't be flashy and walk around in Gucci but I feel like that really applies to almost any city in any country...
Have you been to Mexico alone?❤️
Many times!
Have you been to Mexico alone?️
Aren't these basic common sense rules? Who drinks that much alcohol alone or goes out alone at night...this is never saver anywhere, even in Germany
