For anyone in davinci 18, you have to click "Alpha limits text", on the lightrays
I always wanted to make these types of effects in DaVinci Resolve

this was a great help with gettign started. Thanks for this info i didn't know about the make new fusion clip. only problem I'm facing is I'm doing exactly the opposite in an effect I'm making someone disappear. so trying to wrap my brain around this in reverse is weird lol . great work on the video!

@@FilmcoreDigital awesome. I was able to get a very very rough edit with a warp effect but my final project I'm trying to get the person to vanish like either endgame or when some one is killed by a dalek.

I'm having some serious problems following this tutorial, the light rays don't work at all.
After duplicating the background and polygon, merging, and adding the Light Rays, the area within the light rays polygon turns completely black and no longer shows my subject.
I've gone through several times to make sure I'm following all the steps in the video exactly, but it's still not working. Advice would be greatly appreciated!

I made this is davinci resolve 18.5 but the everything was reversed red putter glow instead of blue. Disappeared instead of appeared. What is going on? I will try again. Is their anyway to alter the finished project instead of starting again. I think o may have missed 1 or 2 little steps.
The steps should still be the same in 18.5. Without seeing your project I wouldn't be able to give an answer where you went wrong.

@@FilmcoreDigitalfound the problem it's at 3:40 to 4:00. Are you pressing down a keyboard command to connect background to merge1 and actor to merge.
I dont think so your just showing viewers to connect in this order.
Ok so how do you manually set the order ? I see in the background tool inspector (in fusion tab) it says layer1 their is also a layer2 is this related to your instruction for actor node and background node?
When you say you should see this coming through all I see is checkboard pattern emerge instead of the body appear from thin air
Please help I spent 2weeks on this still haven't figured it out
