- I'm joined by Jordan Raney from @warpfireminis to peel back the curtains to talk about running a friendly local game store. What's it like being a business owner selling Warhammer, what are some of the challenges, how did it all start, how do you build a strong community while remaining profitable... this and more will be discussed over the couse of this video.

Apologies for some of the clipping towards the end. Internet problems I guess... too many people downloading the new X-Men '97 trailer. Also, if Careers in Warhammer is a series you'd like me to explore with a Commission Painter, somebody that works at Games Workshop (store and/or head office), or some other role please let me know what you'd like to hear about and I'll see if I can make it happen.
Would love to hear you interview Byron from Artis Opus, he’s both an art CZcamsr and a store chain owner!
I think this is a great series to explore for sure and loved this episode.
I think the "coaching" and battle report aspects of Warhammer should also be explored more as they're quite unique spheres.
If you want to look for inspiration, Contact Lost did a series on 40k people with similar ideas.
Do it
Great to hear their story. I found warpfire minis thru season of war. They we're using their objective markers and went to order some and realized they're in Ocala. Im 1hour or so away, I will definitely have to get out to see the store
They look like they've got a great store and a strong community so I bet your travel will be well worth it
Jordan is a national treasure and the best source for learning AoS for me as a newer player
Awesome to hear... hopefully I'm ranked a little under Jordan 😘
@@AoSCoach oh defs, your focus is a bit different, but you're no doubt the single most important content creator for driving the community
I'm so happy for Jordan I got into AOS thanks to his trade in program back when he was still in the shopping container. Traded in over $1,000 worth of 40k to buy into LrL and still support him to this day.
One of the greatest hobbie stores I've been to, thank you Jordan.
I love this story. Thanks for sharing mate
Warpfire is awesome. Received my first Warpcrate last week and loved what I got.
Hell yeah! I'll have to see if I can get a Warpcrate next tournament I attend in the USA
My go to store for Warhammer! Great interview Coach.
I'm jealous Bill... would love this to be my local
Warpfire single handed keeps a huge group in the hobby. Proud to have them as my FLG.
that's awesome. Glad to hear about their support in your community
A couple of true champions!
Awwww thanks Mike
So I have it on good authority Jordan’s brother eats minis and he won’t stop no matter how Jordan pleas. He prefers the pointy ones and is regularly hospitalized.
HAHAHAHHA I didn't know this but I'll need to find out more of this story
Hey this was one of the best episode!
Jordan is this month's discovery in my warhammer world and this drops right on time.
Great to hear more about the "backstage"
Do the series and i love jordan's idea to chuck in a introspective episode.
You also wear many hats and it d be cool to know what it takes ans how you do it
Glad you liked it and I think "CZcamsr' is a topic I'll do... no doubt many of you want to know about being a creator
So glad to watch this video, I encounter Jordan's youtube channel when looking for skaven stuff and the vibe and strategy that he shows in every video is amazing, so I'm happy to get to know the skaven enthusiast behind the channel. Also really interesting story and mentality to make it! ^^
Jordan loves his Skaven and puts together some great videos... glad you found his content before this video
Awesome as always, Coach-Bot
Coach-bot?! 🤣
I’ve been toying with the thought of starting my own FLGs, since those we have where I live only sell things and don’t have the space for actual games. So my dream would be to do something like what Warpfire does that combines the shop and the gaming Aspekt.
It's a great dream and something I've thought about at times. I think one of the barriers is giving up your weekends in the early years while you establish the business at least for me.
I'm lucky enough to have Warpfire as my FLGS and Jordan is every bit as cool as he seems in the video. I think he's got bigger balls than Kragnos to bank almost everything on such a flaky company as GW so nothing but positive well-wishes to him.
Ive seen him lean over the table a few times and can confirm the big grapefruits. I’m impressed with his dedication of warhammer and not getting into card games
@@AoSCoach Also, Jordan, stock both regular and quck-setting Tamiya glue. They both have their uses and Hobby Lobby stopped stocking it!
I'm working on it!@@brib9716
About to watch, id love to work in the field myself
Hopefully you get the chance. I imagine it'd be a lot of fun
I wish we had a store like this where we are at. Our growing group of 8+ has been begging our LGS to get more AoS product (even things as simple as paint), we play there every Thursday, have been for over a year now. Will NOT back us up on anything but it's the only store we can play at that has tables and terrain, but he keeps stocking other games that aren't AoS. SUPER Frustrating.
That's incredibly disappointing. Some people get into the business to support other non-Warhammer games due to their own interests which is fine. Hopefully you're able to keep chipping away and change their minds
@@AoSCoach agreed. It's disheartening. We're trying to find a new spot
Sounds like working with GW is just an awful and painful experience.
It can be tough at times, but that could be said about any sort of business! Overall we have a great relationship with our reps and most of the time things go pretty smooth; we wouldn't be here without them!
I will say that a lot of the time, there are no problems with ordering from GW... it's just when they drop the ball you hear about it. When they deliver on time and as expected no one bats an eyelid. There has been some issues and hopefully they get less and less now
