    SHOCKED you only have 12k subscribers!? that's BS. I'll spread the word! Just wanted to say: Your channel has been IMMENSELY helpful in choosing a sub; Just picked up a pair of PB-1000's; I'm at a loss for words honestly in how much of a different universe they are compared to all of the complete waste of time garbage subs that I either gave away/sold/or the amps self destructed. One thing that really stood out for me with SVS is their 5 year unconditional warranty on everything. I'm shocked you don't point this out more often as I'm guessing most parts are made in china, and most manufacturers are only doing 12-24 month warranties, some just give you 12 months on the amp and then 36 months on the sub, almost as if they know the amp is a liability. Brands like Monolith were considered, however in reading their forums, they don't just ship you a new amp, so you're responsible for return shipping on the entire unit = nightmare. So I'll prob be a lifetime SVS fan.

    I subscribed! Curious...I run 7.2 on a Denon AVR-X4000. Does the 4500h support atmos 7.2.x? I am confused by the spec sheet on something that says if you use height speakers there are no "dolby" speakers active. I just want to be able to use/hear my 7.2 and add 2 or 4 height speakers

    Just got x4700h and it's great. I have 3 Genelec 8330A dsp speakers up front and one Genelec 7360 dsp sub and those sound like a dream. Genelec does excellent work what comes to their GLM calibration, but I am still going to run Audyssey to check if it will do any better. Planning to add some more Genelecs to back, but have to catch a breath and collect some cash to buy them.

    You are not being picky your so right 100% . i dislike to hear so much action and loudness in all speakers that defeats the purpose of the experience in what we want, great separations in each speaker, yes a thematic scene will happen but nice calm quiet but clear sounds in rear and wspecailly hieghts channels is where its awesome and many movies on disc have so much going on at once and dont hit the mark.

I may be completely wrong, but I'm trying to figure out a cost for an additional amp and if it would be better to sell my x4400 and buy the x4500. Oh boy I never should have started reading about Auro 3 d lol.

    from what you're describing. it's like most of what we watch is 1080P. when you see a 4K HDR or an 8K you see a totally different picture. The same goes for audio tracks. some audio tracks that are "supported by Dolby Atmos" you will hear a totally different sound. (somewhat flat)
    I don't think it's the receiver itself. I think it has to do with the track itself. I notice the same thing on flagship receivers. Denon or Onkyo. it's very confusing

  • @ZeonStar77

    Love your videos. Always very informative. I myself have the X4400H. It’s my first Denon AVR and I love it. I just recently maxed it out with 9 channels by going from 5.1.2 to 5.1.4. We’re going to move in a few years and at that point I’ll probably get into the realm of External Amps. I, like you, have my Home theater in the living room. I hope that can change when we move.
    Anyway I wanted to say that I don’t know if I agree that IMAX theaters are the “Gold standard.” I guess it depends on what you’re looking for. Arguably I would say the best theater experience is actually Dolby Cinema. The quality is just unmatched, even by IMAX. If you have one nearby I would really suggest you give one a try.
    I live in the SF Bay Area and am fortunate enough to live near a Dolby Cinema and an actual IMAX (not LieMAX) and the IMAX IS really just big and loud. There is certainly an appeal for that, but I find myself almost always favoriting Dolby Cinema. Check out one if you haven’t already.

      Subwoofer 101 It’s quite good. But I will say it’s rather unique. The subs are on the CEILING. I never looked into why it’s like that but it works. The seats also have transducers so they rumble. The sound system is really great.
      Check out this video. It’s summarizes DC nicely.

    Ok i do trust ur reviews. I have the x4500h. Now im trying to decide new tv 55to65 or 75 inch from a 42inch but beyond that im also looking at svs subs or rel. Trying to get 2 svs pb1000 or 1pb 2000 vs 1 svs pb3000? Im the only one using the system so would i really need 2 subs if i dial 1 sub in very well? Granted this will all happen by next year i have 2 psw110 they are ok but want deeper bass.

    • @Subwoofer101
      @Subwoofer101  Před 5 lety

      65" TV's are fun, I have thought about a 75 inch, but I would lose my 3D.
      100%, I would split your budget for duals.
      The PB-3000's are very nearly perfect in my opinion, but I would still run dual PB-2000's over a single PB-3000, or even a single PB 16 Ultra for that matter. It matters that much.

    Hi! I am currently using one Denon 4500 with B&W 603 Floor-standers and HTM6 Center. I am planning to setup another with the same set of speaker models. But I am little confused this time to choose the AV receiver. I have shortlisted the Marantz 7013 OR the Denon 6500. I will be driving 5.2.4 spk format. I will really appreciate if you could please help me choose between these two amps. Cheers :-)

    • @Subwoofer101
      @Subwoofer101  Před 5 lety +2

      Honestly, both are great. The sound difference between the Marantz and the Denon is not dramatic, but it slightly favors the Marantz. The Marantz looks better, but the portal display is diffcult to see. I would be happy with either. That probably doesn't help much, but that's what I can tell you.

    @Miskatonic-University Před 5 lety +2

    Imho you should have bought the X6400H which is a Japan made monoblock design with better components and amp specifications than the X4500H. The IMAX Enhanced format is just a tuned DTS format and completely disposable. The X4500H brings nothing over the X4400H apart from IMAX, so the 2017 models are a much better bargain now that they´re discounted.

    • @Subwoofer101
      @Subwoofer101  Před 4 lety

      If you get the bass right, you typically don't need to go that high, but even then, most of the stress would be on the subwoofer amps.
      To me, doing it "right" would involve dual, deep bass subs, speakers set to "Small" regardless of size, and at 80 hertz crossover, I usually do at least 90 hertz for big speakers and 120 for smaller surround speakers. This transfers the brunt of the amplifier load to the subs, where it truly belongs.
      You can see my Best Subwoofers list for more detail about deep bass subs, which would be a true game changer over your current setup. The link to "The List" is in the description of this video, and below.
      You can also see my Large vs Small article about bass management. It explains why I use these settings in a pretty helpful way.
      Lastly, if you are going to listen at reference, it's a good idea to run external amplification rather than rely on any AVR by itself. It would take the strain off of the onboard amps. This AVR has external amplification capability.

    • @Subwoofer101
      @Subwoofer101  Před 4 lety +1

      I would say yes, with the caveat that you should get another PB-3000, and if the 4500 loses steam, so would most other AVR's, and I would go with external amplification at that point.
      Run as much gain as you can stand on the subs without them sounding overdone. Should make getting close to reference unnecessary. I run around -18 to -23 for movies and it's a kick in the pants!
