  • Creating this skirt was soooooooo EAAAAASSSSSYYYYY!
    I hope you are able to follow along!
    If you have any questions, do drop them down below!
    Here are some time stamps:
    00:46 Step 1: Cut out all of your material!
    ** Tier 1: 2 pieces (11in x26 in)
    ** Tier 2 : 2 Piece (9 in x 40 in)
    ** Tier 3 : 2 Piece (12in x 60 in)
    ** Tier 4: 4 Piece (15in x 60 in)
    USE STICKY NOTES AS A REMINDER FOR THE TIERS!
    02:15 Step 2: Sew all vertical seams so that all tiers are attached, creating individual circles per tier. Be sure to treat your raw edge, such as serging pinked shearing, or zigzag stitching.
    03:23 Step 3: Fold each tier in half to find your center front and center back. (Since there are 3 pieces for tier 4, keep one seam as the center back, fold it in half to find the center front and the marking for your side seam.)
    03:53 step 4: Hem tier 4! IRON! IRON! IRON!
    5:04 Step 5: Create 2 rows of basting stitches stopping 1/2 inch before the seam. on the top of Tier 2, 3, and 4. FOr more information on gathering check out this gathering vid!

    Thank you! You have done an amazing job. Does tier 1,2,and 3 have two sections and tier 4 have three sections? The time stamp writing says 2 of each but you describe 3. I’m going to attempt this for my daughter (same exact measurements as you so easier for me)!

      Do you mean a fabric that is shorter in width?
      It wouldn’t be a problem. U would just have more vertical seams.

    • @tisimiwi
      @tisimiwi  Před 6 měsíci

      I bought the material as a remnant, but after I tested some of the material, it seems melt in acetone…
      So I want to say it’s an acetate fabric.
      Kinda feels like rayon but has a bit of weight to it, beautiful drape, and shiny like poly.

    Hi! I’m making this skirt but I’m confused about the measurements of tier 4. Do all three measure 15x60, or are two of them 12x60? The image that comes up shows that one is 15x60 and two are 12x60 but your voice over says all 15x60

    • @tisimiwi

    Hello - thank u so much for the tutorial! Question though: why is there a piece for tier 4 that is 15 inch long instead of 12 inch long ?

    • @tisimiwi

      It was a typo. And since it was embedded into an image, within the vid. I simply continued.
      The notes are in the description above though…

    I’ve finished tier 1,2 and 3 but when trying to attach tier 4 I’m confused. I’ve made one of the three seams the center back seam but the do I line the other seams up with the side seams? I tried this but then it looks like there will be no gathers at the front. Do I just space everything out and the seams of tier 4 don’t match with the seams of tier 3? Help!!
    Thanks

    • @tisimiwi
      @tisimiwi  Před 2 lety +1

      For tier 4, use one of the seams as the center back, when you lay it flat, mark the other end as the center front.
      Fold it again onto itself so that the center front now matches up with the center back. And mark the new folded corner as your side seam

    Hello! What’s the length of your elastic did you use?

    • @tisimiwi
      @tisimiwi  Před rokem

      30inch and I over lap by 1 in from both ends.
      I wanted it to be snug since the weight of the tiers would pull it down, and zigzag stitching on top of the elastic will cause it to stretch out a bit… small variance though

    how much fabric did you use in yards?

    • @tisimiwi
      @tisimiwi  Před rokem +4

      I think it totaled out to about 3 1/10 yards. 😅
      But keep in mind that my fabric was 60 inch wide. So some of the tiers I was able to cut once straight across vs tier 3 which I have to cut out individually since each section was the actual width of the fabric.
      If your fabric is smaller, then you will need A LOT MORE yardage.
      This is where Tetris comes into good practice lol. before purchasing an amount that is too short and having to go back to the store to get more-and finding out it’s sold out. 😂😂
      My experience. Plan it out on paper. For fabric widths 45in 55in or 60in.
      Those extra inches make a real difference 😉

    Hello first comment how would i do this as a double circle skirt but like this?

    • @tisimiwi
      @tisimiwi  Před 2 lety +1

      Double circle skirt? Hm…. I’m not sure what you mean, but cutting circle skirts take lots of fabric so be sure to have that on standby, each tier would gradually be wider then the next, so there would be many vertical seams in order to make it fit per tier. And ALOT of lost material because you have to keep it on bias.
      And then there’s the weight of the material that is pulled down from being on bias, so the hem may be more wonky then your typical circle skirt…
      Idk if I answered but you can always send me a image on ig and I can better help you

      @@shadowthesatyr726 yes I got it.
      So the first tier would be cut circularly. And the second and third would be cut into long strips and simply gather like I did for 2-4 tier In the vid.
      The waistband is flat, so it probably has a zipper closure.
      The second white layer, (non polka dot) is just lining.
