    It would be nice if you could also review the Van Rysel NCR or EDR. These are more realistic bikes for most of us.

    • @Necessary_Chemical
      @Necessary_Chemical Před 14 dny

      This!!!! Would love to see someone cover those bikes. Sure, covering top of the line is nice but most people never have the disposable income to sink in 8-10k bikes. The NCR/EDR is something that is still an important investment and for most of us, that'll be the top of the line that we can afford.

    Sounds great to buy as a frame kit and build it with some nice lightweight budget components

    • @gafk2975
      @gafk2975 Před 2 měsíci +3

      Price of frame is the best thing about this bike. It costs around 2700? EUR and you get the same frame the pros use. For comparison, the Sworks Tarmac frame the pros use costs like 5500 EUR and other brands aren't that far off in terms of prices. You can basically build an amazing bike with electronic shifting and carbon wheels for around 5k that rivals those that are over 10k.
      I just hope the frames come with more color options. The abyss green one looks sick in person.

    • @gloopann
      @gloopann Před měsícem +1

      Correct me if I am wrong, but AFAIK that frameset is the RCR PRO, not the regular RCR. So potentially, if the RCR frameset does release, it should be even cheaper

    I ride the rcr pro team replica, and I'm a bit surprised with your thoughts about the comfort: in my opinion the bike is super comfy, even as a former owner of an ultimate cf sl. The bike is way way stiffer than the canyon at high power, and feels much safer in descent (one of the bad points of the ultimate).

    4.500, for an 8kg bike (without pedals). How in god's name is this good value. Who cares if other companies are charging 5 or 6 grand. This is still stupid money and if anyone pays it. Then more fools you. This is the reason bikes are so expensive. Tools are paying so much for heavy bikes.

    • @davidarthur
      @davidarthur  Před měsícem +1

      They are faster but the Defy is not slow and with deep section wheels it's still a quick bike - and the Defy's position might make it easier to rider faster for longer in more comfort. So unless you're racing or chainganging all the time the Defy won't sacrifice performance for you

    Not really sure what to make of this bike. I think it will fall in value massively on the second hand market. Also I don't know what the buying experience or aftersales care will be like from a big store retailer. I would rather pay the extra to get the street cred, resale value and desirablity of a one of the big brands ie trek, spec, pinarello, etc ,

    • @Ryan.T89
      @Ryan.T89 Před 2 měsíci

      All second hand bikes are worthless as the used market is dead because people can’t finance them and have no warranty.
      I had one of the older 2016 Btwin Ultra CF’s which I rode 5 years and still use for Crit racing. Bikes been faultless and Decaton after sales would put most to shame. When yon consider my S Works SL7 is on its 3rd warrenty frame in just over a year, buying higher end means nothing when it comes to quality.

    Did people honestly expect a £2000 SL8? 😂
    The fact is that most bike manufactures have pretty standard costs around groupsets and the variation comes from frames and wheel sets.

    • @oliverjacobs8594
      @oliverjacobs8594 Před 2 měsíci

      frame costs specialized about 900 bucks, consumers can buy dura ace for about 2000 euros so I can only imagine what specialized pays for them, they make their own wheel sets and it probably only costs them about 600 bucks. seems like it only really costs them about 3000 euros so yeah, I think its fair to expect the bikes to be about 5k.

    Aero benefits you more than light weight on the climbs? Haven't you got this backwards? Aero counts for nothing unless you're going over 25mph and low weight is paramount for a fast climbing bike.

      @kreed4 Před 2 měsíci +9

      You are wildly misinformed.

    • @danielt91
      @danielt91 Před 2 měsíci +10

      Aero starts being the major force slowing you down at just 15mph. And you also need to keep in mind that these 15mph are not necessarily the speed you are moving at. If you have oncoming wind at 5mph and you are going at more than 10mph, the combined drag is once again more than 15mph which makes the aero important.

    • @kreed4
      @kreed4 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@Macuhdohnadadoh True, bike marketers gotta market, but this question is settled. Aero is better than light (outside of long, steep climbs), but Aero + Light > Aero, which is where bike marketers have moved to now. No where else to go but more aero + more light (which is what we’ll see).

    • @kreed4
      @kreed4 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@Macuhdohnadadoh 100%! Fit for purpose is always best, though if you are going to make generalized comparisons, you have to exclude environment/personal preference/drafting/etc, and I think reasonable to resort to watt efficiency or speed/time to complete a specific distance (what else would be better?), looking at both flats and moderate climbs (4-5% grades), which represent the vast majority of riding. And there, aero always wins.
