The Clansman, Live , Rock in Rio 2001, is the live song that Pam will Love..., Metal is not only about fast , heavy, complex music.., it's a lot more about the camaraderie , the synchronicity between Band and Crowd..., Iron Maiden and 260, 000 of their closest Friends educating the world on having fun.... with Metal...., never been a Band that makes Fans feel part of , well, The Band, like iron Maiden does...., cheers, my 2 cents....

Do the Clansman, or Rime of the ancient mariner. Both of you will probably have a good experience with Iron Maiden. I know she'll probably "getting turned off" like the Gojira videos, but i hope you do give her more analysis about what the song telling like lyrics description or etc. Trust me, it will be a greatexperience.

Awesome story about Iron Maiden. When my little girl was still to young to talk she was getting fussy in her car seat her mother was like "I can't figure out what's wrong with her?" I said "watch and learn". I popped out her Puff Daddy CD put in Maidens The Trooper and she quit crying and was sitting back there bobbing her little head.

One thing you will notice about Iron Maiden is that a lot of their songs tell a story. Founder and bassist Steve Harris, singer Bruce Dickinson and even guitarists Dave Murray and Adrian Smith take stories, poems and historical figures and make songs out of them. I recommend Hallowed be thy Name, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Flash of the Blade, Flight of Icarus, To Tame a Land, Mother Russia and Alexander the Great as your next songs. Great video guys, have a great weekend 😊

'Eddie' started out as just a featureless white mask that hung above the band that spewed smoke. Thast was the extent of their pyrotechnics back in the club days. So it was jokingly dubbed 'Eddie the 'ed' (British slang for 'head')
Of course, he has evolved enormously as the band's signature image over the years. The band loved it because it meant that they didn't have to appear on the covers. And metal bands, by and large, are usually pretty ugly.

    • @gifgit
      @gifgit Před 5 lety +2

Apparently, they used to use a lot of blood capsules and an aquarium pump to make the mask spew blood. Unfortunately, it kept spewing blood all over drummer Clive Burr. RIP

You have to do “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” for the live song... Nothing comes close to it! All the best and keep up the great work!

Singer and main lyricist Bruce Dickinson is a true renaissance man. A champion fencer, a qualified airline pilot and a devotee of classic literature and poetry. He brings that literary perspective to many of Maiden's songs.
Check out the documentary FLIGHT 666 to see the story of how Maiden mounted a massive tour using their own converted 747. Piloted by none of the than Bruce Dickinson himself.

Iron maiden was one of my first
Including metallica and oldschool ones like black sabbath
My parents and grandparents introduced me to them (and a bunch of rock bands as well)
Soon iron maiden became my favourite band
And then I started to listen and discover more and more metal
    Some harder stuff
    It went so naturaly
From metallica to megadeth and so on
So I think iron maiden is a good starting point to make you like other bands and subgenres
    With time ofc
    Good luck

Eddie started out as a piece of plywood back of the stage. They named him Eddie because he was an 'ead (British for Head) and he became Eddie. Derrick Riggs breathed life into Eddie for the first album and continued for some time as the band's artist. For Nightwish you have to listen to them with their first singer Tarja Turunen. For Megadeth Symphony of Destruction is a great song. Primal Fear When Death Comes Knocking, Hammerfall Stronger Than All and Rainbow Gates of Babylon.

Nice. I've been waiting for this.
Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot...let her run with it...
4:15...hmm how to say this...Metal was an underground unrecognized art form at first...if I remember right, '86 was the first Grammy award for Metal. I think with the fans of the genre who happen to be younger, this is a source of some confusion. ...but back then we called this Metal.
5:44...yes and yes. The U.S. was especially more conservative at that time and the Metal genre starts in the U.K. with, for some Metal fans, Black Sabbath only and for the rest of us Metal fans, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple...all from the U.K.
8 is great. There's a lot of Metal out there. All kinds of different flavors!

You have to check out a live video, either Fear of the Dark live from Rock in Rio 2001, or if you want to see Eddie going crazy on stage check out the Book of Souls live, or Powerslave from Live after Death. Some German power metal... Well... Some way between symphonic and power metal... AVANTASIA. Songs like The Scarecrow, Ghost in the Moon, Lucifer, Let The Storm Descent Upon You, Where Clock Hands Freeze, Shelter From The Rain or Reach Out For The Light. This band is also great performing live. The creative mind is Tobias Sammet, and they have invited singers on every album and on almost every single song.
Also she might appreciate Unisonic, songs like Exceptional, For the Kingdom, or Your Time has Come are wie great. The singer is Michael Kiske, which was lead singer for Helloween in the 80s until the 90s. Most metal fans know his voice quite well.

Twisted Sister was one of the bands targeted by the PMRC, I forget what it stands for but it was politicians wanting to label Metal and rock albums for their lyrics and imagery. Dee Snider, the lead singer for TS went to Washington during the public hearings and testified against the censorship. Two other musicians went to Congress to testify during the hearings, Frank Zappa and John Denver, yes John Denver, lol. Tipper Gore (Al Gore’s wife) headed the PMRC and was surprised by John Denver’s appearance, but John Denver went because he didn’t like the censorship. If you have a chance search the proceedings on CZcams, seeing Dee Snider testifying at congress is worth it, not to mention Dee came across very intelligently. My bit of history for you.

Traditional Heavy Metal is the best. My definition might be a little different as it encompases other similar styles.

    Fabulous, and entertaining reaction.
She is right, it's a great song, but not 1 that blows you away.
An 8 is what I also would give this song.

Maiden never got air play in the UK either, even when they had a number one single. Yet they fill stadiums all over the world.

What I like about her is that she has valid arguments. Sometimes she doesn't like the cheesy lyrics or the vocals. She can always point what is really really great. She's not like "Eeeew it's just noiiiiseee. So violennnntttt".

They're British. His full name is Eddie the 'ed, or in American Eddie the Head. In the early days at the clubs, they had a head made of Eddie that would spew blood, but most of the time it just poured out onto the drummer.

I applaud your aim; getting the missus to listen to CLASSIC metal is the way forward... please consider Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner.

Well, since you touch the topic about Nightwish and revisiting
them, maybe is a good option to listen to songs where you see the other side of
Floor’s singing skills. “Storytime”, “I Want My Tears Back”, and “Wish I had an
Angel” are more catchy songs. In the last two, you can hear Marco (bassist)
sing. However, beside the music and the lyrics, Nightwish is better known for
their live performances, so check the Tampere, Wacken or Wembley versions of
    the songs.

Nightwish Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley is extremely moving. Understanding the backstory of that song will make it much more meaningful.

This song has quite a funny history relating to its creation. Steve Harris (bassist and the most prolific songwriter of them) used to records his ideas on a tape recorder by whistling. Bruce Dickinson (singer) writes in his own biography that when Steve played the idea-tape for this song for the band, it sounded like a tune a happy Postman would be whistling at when delivering mail.

I think mascots are named funny names because the bands have a sense of humor. Metallica has a giant statue of the blind lady of justice which they called “Doris”, a sort of logo they call “Scary Guy” and Megadeth’s mascot is called “Vic Rattlehead”

It's about one of Britain's worst military blunders. The light Brigade were an elite calvery unite that due to confused orders on the day of the battle charge directly at a well armed well protected Russian battery. The light Brigade were almost completed slaughtered. The political fallout of the disaster is legend. Into the valley of death rode the six hundred... Tennison

The US had the largest and most productive metal scene on earth back then. Maiden enjoyed huge success in America. The charts mean nothing. They still sold a lot of records and pulled in big crowds here.

Maiden was Maiden famous about a decade before Metallica was Metallica famous. Both bands rose to the top of their game and took over the world with little to no radio/MTV support at first.

Their video of this song was banned by MTV due to them using clips from the Errol Flynn movie "Charge of the light brigade" where horses actually died in the making of that movie. I believe it was Bruce that said "You'd think we actually killed those horses the way they reacted."
