- Glimpse of the daily life in Loiyangalani, village at the border of Lake Turkana in north Kenya. Loiyangalani means ""a place of many trees"" in the native Samburu tongue. It is home to Turkana people.

Was there in 1989 when the village was two shops and no bar or any sort of shops but the people you see are either pokot tribe from Turkana district around lake Turkana totally amazing place like nowhere. Excellent.

I presume you are talking about the Turkana men with their checked clothes and fancy hairstyles. I think the sticks is a tradition that probably comes from their pastoralist life-style wandering in the bush with the cattle and goats . I notice that not a few of the people are obviously drunk .
These are rural areas with wild animals, those sticks are for harding animals, cultural sign of whether married etc, protection from wild animals and for walking aid.
