Al Kooper was a major figure in modern rock music. He created the "Dylanesque" organ sound on Like A Rolling Stone. He was the leader of The Blues Project and founded Blood Sweat & Tears. He left the group after this first album. Later on he produced Lynyrd Skynyrd and other artists. Stardom always eluded him but his genius is unquestioned. Peace out Harri.

I purchased this LP when it was 1st released, based on the fact that I was already a fan of Al Kooper and Steve Katz, who were key members of one of my favorite groups of the mid 1960's, the Blues Project. It has remained one of my favorite albums through the years. I think my favorite cut is BS&T's version of "Morning Glory", a wonderful song written by the late, uniquely gifted folk singer, Tim Buckley ...

What I love about these reactions is what I learn from the commenters. The commenters say Al Kooper was a founder of BS&T.....didn't know that. Loved Blood Sweat and Tears, they were an early group that emphasized horns(although many records were recorded with horns before them), I had heard & listened to The Blues Project, but I never follow individuals of any band, and their movement from band to band.....just LOVE the music!

The band changed their style, later, and the instruments became more pronounced, with soloists, etc. More jazzy/rock style. Along with the incredible voice of David Clayton Thomas. I liked their later transition better, but this is a good song. No denying that! From the later group- 'Hi De Ho', and 'God Bless The Child' are some of the awesome ones they had. 'Sometimes in Winter' is another.
