Art is not paint on board. Art is a feeling. Art is an emotion. Art is an experience. The materials used to make art are irrelevant. Bravo ladies! Well done!

Watching this it struck me the OTHER sense being employed is TOUCH...whereas I would never WANT to touch a drawing or painting Textiles (and no I would never touch an exhibited piece either) but it involves touch perhaps , texture, we RESPOND to it with MORE senses than we would to a painting...my 2 cents...

Thank you for your comment 🙏
And I agree that texture is a very important part of textile art - some textile exhibitions I’ve recently attended have included a wall of ‘handling samples’ 😊👍

hello. my name is wally. i am 80 years old. my wifes name is margaret. margaret has been doing split stich embrodery painings since the age of 8 years of age. she is now 77 years old. she has 145 paintings that she has kept in her personal collection. she has had 2 brain anurisums break in her brain and can no longer stich any thing. i would like to show you some of her work. how can i do that. i have so-so photoes of her work. photos never capture the real likeness of her work. some of here paintings took up to 1400 hours to do. some are are very large. 3 ft by 7 ft. some are small. 10 by 14 inches. all are original work hand drawn by her. and all look like a fine oil painting until you get close and can see the thread work. some are birds. old buildings on the farm, and old stores built in the early 1900 rds. early farms from the late 1800 rds., even a desert flower bloom in california when we visted there. all are had drawn on cottton on strecher boards, like an oil painting. many of her paintings follow you around the room and are always facing you as you move about the room. eyes that move with you, flowers doing the same. my e mail is teakrichie1@yahoo.com. most are framed in exotic wood frames most of which are no longer in existence. pleasse let me know how i can send you photes by whats app or email. wally

Thank you for your comment - The embroidery sounds wonderful. I suggest contacting a local textile group to yourself so it can be shared. The Society for embroidered work also have their own website if you wish to contact them directly. Thank you for watching - Katie : )
