I already loved this remix as soon as it started, but that fucking breakdown they added at 0:56 goes SO fucking hard dude. This remix is incredible
Nothing could have prepared me for where this comment took me. holy SHIT
Cortez was bad*ss enough, but now?! This sounds like something GaMetal would pull!
Cortez...My favorite boss fight in the game. The undead Pirate ☠️ has by far the most haunting boss room and theme, and even this remix's beat manages to recapture the sense of otherworldly dread.
True
They gave Cortez’s theme the heavy metal remix?! Okay I did not expect that but I really like it!
Obviously. Gold is a pretty heavy metal.

If you're talking about worthiness in money, forget GOLD! This is PLATINUM in comparison!
There is no way I'd use the badge after a banger like this graced my ears.
This is probably one of the remixed boss themes I actually enjoyed besides Rawk Hawks ofc. The mix makes it clear that you're not fighting some kind of egotistical boss, a corny villain serving his more capable master, or some dope in a sheet. This is REAL terror. You're facing the KING of Pirates, Cortez. Lord of the Sea, the undead spirit feared by all who attempt to brave the unknown near his resting place. Probably best theme in the game so far.
One of the best video game soundtracks in my life and they remastered and made it even better than before. Nintendo has still got it after all these years!!!!
this is the theme that cortez was originally going to play when he was going to throw that pinata party on the beach
*piñata
N sounds different as Ñ
I loved the original, but always thought it sounded like it was originally meant to be for the X-Nauts but got repurposed. This version, though? It really properly sells the idea of an evil spirit with a bloody history and an array of brutal, poison-laced weapons.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the One Piece...
First a tournament arc, now this, ttyd really is just an anime
IS REEEEAAAALLLL!
Anyone else notice similarities between Flavio and Usopp?
I mean there’s that whole arc with sentient shadows and ghosts.
@@dylancrampton5620i see more dr livsey with flavio
Hard disagree on people that think the original is better. Love the metal in this one!
I listened back to both tracks a couple times, and noticed a lot of people are kind of lamenting the loss of the bongos from the old theme. I kind of get it. It goes well with the theme and the fact we’re fighting an undead pirate skeleton on an island. But I feel like they still keep some of what the bongos added to the song in here. It’s weird to explain, but there’s other instruments played here with the guitar riff at 0:34 and there this part in 0:53 before the epic rock break down later. I dunno how to explain it, but it feels like it keeps the spirit of the OG song here really well. It certainly felt fitting when I fought the boss. Anyone else agree?
It’s kinda weird that a lot of bosses theme in the remake now has rock and roll rhythm and guitars, but I’m not complaining it sounds cool
Nintendo, especially mario composers, have been doing a lot of rock lately, i am very much a fan of this direction lmao
They only have guitars where it's make sense like Rawk Hawk, Macho Grubba, Bowser, Cortez here etc. But yes am very much a fan
This remix goes hard. It's so good.
Probably the best of the remastered tunes
I love cortez and chapter 5 is my favourite and they SLAPPED with this remake
this gave me goosebumps when i started the fight
Yeah! One of my favorite boss themes. Now, Doopliss's is the only one missing
His ain't missing at all, his remix also slaps and is great
DooPliss isn't missing, unless you're counting the _
ENOUGH WITH THOSE JOKES! IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE!
Some people say this remix is worse but I would disagree. I think the new version really does a better job of conveying the fact that you are battling the vengeful spirit of an undead pirate king.
To each their own. This remix slaps if you ask me!
It's just nostalgia googles going hard. The remake is better in every possible way. You feel like you're really in a fight for your life.
@@brtruev1710 I prefer the more atmospheric parts/synths on the original version, but the remake makes up for it's intensity for me.
This is going so hard lamo
Sounds like something from a Pirates of The Caribbean video game.
This OST makes me like Cortez more than Rawk Hawk now
So, we're fighting Davy Jones from Pirates of The Caribbean, eh?
Can anybody PLEASE tell me what the instrument starting at 00:52 is?
Is it an acoustic bass guitar?
Would be perfect if they kept the bongos
0:56-1:10 DOOM vibes.
Would the game crash if you used the nostalgic tunes badge on boss music that wasn’t in the original game?
Probably not. It would use placeholders or not change for new songs, I’d imagine.
I checked and it just plays the new music. I’m pretty sure it even says that in the badge description.
There's obviously no way such a simple to cause crash would be overlooked
Crashes typically only happen if the game runs out of memory. At worst, if an audio asset fails to load, it just won't play.
You’d think that would be a monumentally bad oversight on nintendos part if using a badge they made crashes a game simply by progressing the story lol
The only remix that I feel outdid the original
They took *this* song out of the
Cortez cutscene too.....
_Laaaame_
That was easily one of the best things about chapter 5. Very sad the music didn’t continue for it.
I love metal and Cortez, but this remix does a disservice to the original. So many micro melodies are buried by the generic instruments.
Agreed, I miss the eerie synth it had in the middle of the track, plus the bongo drums the original had. I was a little disappointed when I heard the remake of this track the first time, the metal was a surprise but feel like this track could be so much better. But ya, you can barely hear the micro melodies compared to the original.
No it doesn't, dude this was made by the same composer who made his og track. She knows miles more about doing service to her original song than you or anyone else. You can prefer the original if that's just your taste, but to call this a "disservice" to it is ridiculous and show nostalgia bias. All of the melodies from the og track are all right here and you can hear them, nothing is drowned out by the other instruments. Nor are said instruments "generic" there's so many unique instruments used in this remix and if you're really going to say "they just added a loud guitar" you are very very wrong.
@@loganplock7191It still has that eerie synths and bongos, how could you possibly agree with what this guy's saying.
Lord an entitled fan who writes paragraphs about opinions he doesn't agree with, just enjoy the game and let us have our own opinions, if you write another paragraph as a reply no point of me reading it.
@@loganplock7191 If it was being ignored wise a$$ you wouldn't have said a thing in response. Guess it bothered you enough to warrant not ignoring it huh? And ironic, you sounds miles more entitled than I do. I'm not the entitled fan here nor did I even write any paragraphs. You even know what a paragraph is? Nobody said you couldn't have your own opinions bud, but they're wack ones with no actual reasoning behind them. And I have every right to point that out
One of the more mediocre remixes. Still decent, but where are the bongos?
*Megalovania.... but nerfed, and kind've _chill_ sounding...
with some *HARRRRRD* rockin' tunes...
Acceptable. 😎
Not great... but acceptable. And apparently we can """unlock""" the original soundtrack with a badge, which I think is f***king stupid....
but _HEY_ at least we have it _someway..._
in game.
💀 🏴☠️ 💀
Fairly certain said badge is one coin and doesn't cost anything to equip, plus you can buy it in the first town.
Heck, it’s available at the first possible opportunity when the badge shop opens
The badge is literally worth one coin, costs 0 bp and can apparently be acquired in the Prologue
Also wtf is this corny ass comment, this shit would be something you'd see in a kids' film involving the internet
Not exactly sure if this comment is supposed to be a joke considering you somehow relate this to megalovania
@@enderallygolemi guess they're both skeletons with blue eyes and guitar in their boss theme, but they couldn't be more different
