- No-Man miming (save for Tim) "Housekeeping" for a TV appearance on ITV's The Beat in 1993. This would be the third song the band would play on the platform, having also mimed Only Baby and Heartcheat Pop for an eariler program.
"The band - Steven, Ben and Chris Maitland - are miming, but I’m signing live (on Only Baby, catastrophically so!). I couldn’t hear myself (the music was incredibly loud as it had been left at the volume The Fall preferred and as The Fall took hours recording their section, we had 15 minutes to set up and record all three of our songs)." - Tim Bowness 2021

Try Schoolyard Ghosts from No-Man ....it's a bit lounchy but brilliant.

No-Man lost a certain edginess when Ben left the band. IMHO
18-05-1993 date on the video .... That must be the EXACT date I got into No-Man. All because of this performance on the Beat, next day I went out and picked up Loveblows and Lovecries coupled with Lovesighs as a double CD...still got it. What a great band...which in turn led me to P. Tree, Samuel Smiles, Alias Grace and all the rest of that "collective" that was so vibrant in the 90's onward - I still grab what I can by them all today. I can remember them doing two songs this and Sweetheart Raw ...I think, I don't remember the third. Also if I remember correctly Transglobal Underground were on the same night and they did Temple Head and I, Voyager. Is there any more footage of No-Man on The Beat available?
Nice. But how come they didn't film a close-up of Steven? His guitar was amazing, as usual!
I suppose they thought Steven is session guitarrist... Or he just avoided cameras (he said himself in the interviews he was really shy at that time)
