In 2002 we brought my mother-in-law from Vietnam to California for a visit. It was her first time traveling outside of Vietnam and took her to Costco. She walked in, stopped, looked all around and had tears in her eyes.

As an american AND a Walmart associate/employee this type of video remindes me of how lucky I am to be an american and work for a really good company like Walmart. I work in one of the distribution centers. The pay is really good and with good insurance and other benefits. It amazes me to see people blown away because we have gallon jugs of milk. Unreal.
This reminds me of the movie Dumb and Dumber... "Only the essentials Lloyd!" And he comes out with pin wheels, beer, beef jerky and a ten gallon hat. Haha This is a great video.
It's not just Walmart. Regional chains have been doing it ages before Walmart became big. Although adding to what you said, Milk (or something else of high value like soda) are usually in the back. the stores are designed to make it as easy as possible to make the shopper do a full circuit around the store before leaving. maximizing how much money per customer per visit they make.
It was delightful seeing the happiness on your faces as you found surprise after surprise. My wife has worked at Walmart for years and I guess I just take the store for granted. Nice video. Beautiful ladies.
We've had four exchange students from Europe and Australia...they're always amazed at Walmart, grocery stores and fast food places. Sizes are much bigger here which is why we're all struggling with weight issues LOL
You buy the 48 poptarts for day care/ after-school programs/ large families.... like the one in the UK with 21+ kids. Or if you only shop once or twice a month.
You are all so cute and excited. This is a highly entertaining video! This is my favorite "Foreigners visiting Walmart for the first time" video I've seen.

I probably watched this video a half dozen times and I always end up laughing my fool head off. You girls are priceless, I wish I could take you home with me!! Us Yanks love the British accent.
You didn't visit the gun department. A lot of the tourist videos visit Wal Mart and are freaked out by the gun department. They act as if they've never seen guns.
MooseT Im sure theyre jealous of the weekly school/church/hospital/workplace shootings. Cant even go to a festival anymore without concern. America is so acclimated to it now. Day after a shooting its "our thoughts and prayers" the next day its a politician saying "Its Americans right to carry a gun" then the cycle starts over the next week. Last week was the NM school shooting and literally it was only news for a day. Literally a day now no one even remembers.
Used to be able to buy a rifle at the local hardware store, in fact right around the time that Wal-Mart came about. So, being a 'one stop shopping' location, Wal-Mart is likely a holdover from those days.
You all crack me up with your enthusiasm for WalMart. I go there all the time. I guess I need to see it with new eyes to appreciate all it has to offer.
I have seen now several of these First time Walmart trips from both our Aussie and British friends I find them quite entertaining . They seem to be like children in a candy store. Excitement wise. If there are any potential tourist reading my comment I have noticed on a few of them that the Walmart pizza seems to attract them. Please don't buy them you'll be disappointed they are not very good. They will fill you up if your hungry but they really are not a very good quality. Those little pies these ladies found are quite good though. And don't forget to add about 10% for taxes the prices marked on the shelf does not include tax unless your in Florida. In Florida food is tax exempt but the prices seem to be a bit higher not much though
I have to admit, though it was just shopping, I really enjoyed watching you enjoy your 1st Walmart experience, like kids in a candy store. Made me laugh. For everyone not for the USA, Walmart is not a supermarket lol. We have separate supermarkets (some of us call them grocery stores). Walmart is technically a department store.
kellya71 I'm not sure how many, if any, dept store only Wal Marts there are. Starting in the 1980s, they began transitioning to Super Centers, which have separate areas for grocery and dept store items. Neighborhood Markets are a more recent phenomenon, they sell groceries only. Some smaller towns will also have a Wal Mart Express, sort of a mini Wal Mart. Then of course there are Sam's Clubs for buying in bulk.
We've got a regular Walmart and also a Walmart supermarket in the town near me. It's just a small-ish town of 15k people. Walmart actually started just one or two towns over from where I'm from.
Lol, this is hilarious. Love the excitement and enthusiasm. Remember ladies, we are a multicultural country. And there is a difference between buying healthy or junk foods. Also buying what u need in either small portions or bulk.

Some advice--when you're in America or any Spanish-speaking country, you never say "tor-TILL-uhs", it's tor-TEE-yahs. You're all too posh for the average Yank Wal Mart shopper.
