+yoda 222, you have a very intrusive habit of speaking for all of Poles, as if Poles have one opinion for all.
You can not know how the Poles of that time thought. The presence of the rebels only spoke of the presence of dissatisfied, nothing more.

My own family in long term hails from both Russian (Minsk governorate) and Austrian (Galicia and Lodomeria) partitions, partially from Hungary too, and there's still deep sentiment for Habsburgs (more specifically, Franz Joseph, I even have his portrait hanging in my home) not only in my family, but many other "Galicians", with "good old" Emperor being namesake to restaurants, his portrait on the mineral water and his monuments and streets still existing in some towns (while all Tsarist and german Kaiserlich traces being all removed from "their parts" as early as 1917/18), so it might seem odd that I side with Tsar on this one.
Still, I'm legalist. As much as Russian and Prussian rule was and is commonly viewed in ery bad light, objectively Nicholas and his successors were formally kings of Poland, and Austrian gratitude to Russia for 1848 was best shown in Crimean war...

Actually more Slovaks fight alongside Hungary. The Austrian government was autocracy and monarchy system. Hungarian rebel government was democratic. Austria support minorities in Hungary because at the time there was not minority rights is Hungary. Hungarian government gave rights to minorities to late as Austrians and Russians push their forces deeper to Hungary. Hungarian Revolution was in deed international. As it was one of most successful revolts of 1848. At the Hungarian side fight volunteers native in today Italy, Austria, Germany, England, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine and many others who fight for freedom. At the end Austria give up their promises for autonomy to everyone. Only Hungarians gain autonomy under Austria installed government.

WW1 would happen anyways but 1-3 years later. The tension was rising in europe especially because of the balkans and the new weapons they wanted to test out. The question is who would've started and who would've won the war? One of the USA's reason to go against Germany was because of they were the "agressors". And without Hungary Austria was weaker and Hungary wasn't a supporter of Germany.

Hungary had close to 200k Soldiers before Russia entered the conflict, wastly outnumbering the Austrian armies that could be deployed. Entire Towns turned all their efforts into manufacturing weapons, Bells were melted for cannons and fresh recruits joined the army by the thousands, And Legions of foreign revolutionaries joined the cause. Austria would have been grinded against the Alps had Russia stayed out.

In fact they only survived the Turkish invasion, thanks to Polish help. Same thing with 30 years war, Swedish Army dominated Austrians on almost every battlefield. Austrians were just lucky, in most cases their allies did all the work for them. It was like that in the I World War too, Austria would be anihilated by Russia if not for Germany.

The Turkish rule was a catastroph for Hungary, it ruined it maybe till this day, decreased the population, ruined economy. Like communism in East Germany. We had fought with the Turks for centuries bloody battles. Maybe you know the costum of ringing the bell at noon. It originated from a great battle in 1456 (Nándorfehérvár, now Belgrad), where Hungarians and other Europeans stopped them despite their great overpower. Not really it would have just taken longer to capitulate Hungary and Austria would probably collapse earlier into World War One because they nearly recovered from this and if the war went on longer it would have been worse so that would have caused Austria to collapse in 1916 or 1917 and this would have caused checzoslovakia to be created because the chezoslovak legion would have still been in Siberia or on the eastern front so Hungary would be bigger and thus retain control of Slovakia Transylvania and Voidvdina and Austria would keep Control over Slovenia so that means Yougoslavia might or might not exist.

Size doesn't matter as most of Hungary was empty fields with no industry at all, meanwhile Bohemia was the industrial hearthland of the Austrian empire. Prague was a capital of the Habsburgs for 100 years meanwhile Hungary's most important asset was shit shoveling serfs. 30 years war plundered and ruined Bohemia and killed 50% of population so it was possible for the Austrians to hold on to power. Look up Hussite wars to see how we treat Austrians and Hungarians when we're at full strenght.

It is said in Czech lands that the conflict with Germans is basically the foundation of Czech nationality. What Bohemian lands were under Hungarian control? Since basically the 9th century, Bohemian (Czech) borders remain virtually the same.

      The Habsburgs were hyprocrites too
They promised more autonomy for Slovaks, Romanians and Serbs if they fought against us, Hungarians, then backtracked on it after the revolution, and didn’t bother to give them any special rights once Austria-Hungary was established. They also didn’t bother to help Russia in the Crimean War, despite them saving their empire in this war of independence.
I would say they were jerks as well.

@@PeterPeter-pr2hiis is true, had Austria followed a federal model as suggested by the Romanians, it wouldn't have collapsed. There could have been a Romania past the Carpathians east and a Romania within the broader federal Austria, comprising the Dutchy of Bukovina and the Principality of Transylvania, maybe as far as Partium (Banat, Crișana, Maramureș). Romanians had been robbed of rights, Hungary knew this and it was quite convenient, but as a result only those which let go of their faith or were sent as border guards gained their "privileges". You have to aknowledge that Stephan Ludwig Roth and the Transylvanian demands were quite reasonable. Supplex Libellus Valachorum and the later memorandum were laughed and scoffed at.

    • @PeterPeter-pr2hi
      @PeterPeter-pr2hi Před 11 měsíci +1

@sticlavoda5632 The problem with the Hungarian part of Austria-Hungary was that the ruling party featured mainly nobles who were pretty backwards, and didn’t exactly know how to run a modern state. This was a problem with the Austrian part too, but less so, as they treated the minorities with more autonomy compared to Hungary. I will acknowledge as a Hungarian that we rather undeservingly stripped the rights of many minorities and treated Hungarians more favourably, which is rather unfair if you consider that many fought with us in this war of independence in order to establish an independent state, and when that was kinda achieved in 1867, we turned our backs on them.
However, you will have to acknowledge that -my nationality aside- the empire didn’t treat its minorities nearly as badly as most other empires did in this era. The Ottomans massacred and genocided Armenians, the Russians heavily oppressed all their minorities (the Circassian genocide was also going on), and the French and the British often treated their colonies extremely horribly, with the French suppressing any revolution against them very heavily, and the British putting the Boers in concentration camps. King Leopold of Belgium was also responsible for 15 million deaths in the Congo Free State. Austria-Hungary, in comparison, was just rather backwards and didn’t give as many rights to their minorities as they wanted to. However, there was still social mobility, a lot of individual rights (just not too many collective ones), and they weren’t technically treated as second-class citizens, just sadly happened a lot in practice. Not exactly glorifying the empire’s past, but I have a feeling that we would have eventually reformed if WW1 didn’t come along.

It's a partly false map. First of all it does not show that by the middle of 1949 the whole Hungary was liberated from the enemies' occupation. Hungary defeated the Habsburg Empire and its allies. That was the reason why Austria had to ask for help from the Russian tsar.
Secondly the Hungarians weren't rebels, we were freedom fighters. Or were the Serbs "rebels" during the WW2 when they fought against the Germans? Because the Hungarians were fighting against the Germans - as we called the Hasburgs.
Thirdly the Hungarian revolution and freedom fight of 1848-1849 was not only "one of the revolutions" of that time. Because the other revolutions in fact were nothing compared to the Hungarian revolution. We were influenced by the other European revolutions, but the Hungarian revolution lasted 10 times more. All the other nations gave up, only Hungary persisted until we defeated the Austrian Empire. So the Hungarian revolution was not only one of the revolutions. It was the only glorious and victorious revolution of Europe in 1848-1849.
Fourth: The Hungarian revolution was victorious even if it was ended (but not defeated for ever) by the Russian army. Because the Russians left Hungary in a few months, and Austria remained alone with Hungary again. So by 1867 Austria had to accept all the objectives of the Hungarian Revolution. That was the Austrian-Hungarian arrangement, what finally created the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Without the Hungarian victory of 1848-1849, never would have been conclude the deal of 1867 between the Habsburgs and Hungary.
