This film dose look like the first adventure film in a while that looks truly epic in it's visual design, it look fantastic.
It’s nice to see a positive review of the trailer, I’ve seen a lot of negativity going around about this movie, mostly about stuff we don’t know will happen at all. I’m glad there’s still some people who are optimistic about the movie and excited to see where it goes
im optimistic though Dune Part 2 is still my most anticipated for 2023
They only act negative for cheap clicks
I'm glad I haven't seen the negativity. Its like its cool to moan nowadays. Its a film, looks pretty cool, just go watch and enjoy it, y'know? I thought Crystal Skull was decent too despite the hate that got
Regardless of what anyone thinks Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, me and my dad are so hyped for it! I've grown up watching these films, the Last Crusade being my personal favourite. I'm so fortunate to have been to one of the filming locations for Indy 5, which is the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. I actually go there every now and again with my dad, usually for their annual steam gala. I'll be sure to wear an Indy t-shirt and bring along my Grail Diary replica, to our local ODEON cinema on June 30th, 2023 🤠
I agree absolutely.
I thought Crystal Skull was good. Way better than the murky cinematography of Temple.
And don't get me started re: how good IJ 1 and 3 were
that's awesome man, hope you and your dad enjoy it!
Given the speculation and what was found... um... I hope you can enjoy it mate.
@@cityguard4847 I don't pay attention to online rumours or leaked spoilers. I want to go into this film with an open mind, not knowing too much.
I've always said that the final Indy film should explore the "It belongs in a museum" idea and hopefully see him try to return an artifact rather that he once helped steal.
That'd be a very welcome twist.
Nice one!
The trailer looked great, the action looks chaotic, totally on par for Indy and I'm intrigued about that scene with the divers and what the driving force of this film will be. I'm glad they didn't reveal it or what the artefact is so there's some speculation to be had. And it's great to see Sallah again! One of the best and funniest characters in the Indy franchise so I hope he's in the film a good bit
I think it would be funny if they had the "nazi want magic item" trope and it ends with him trying to go back in a time or something and it just does nothing, just some old object with a story that it changes the past but its some like ancient metaphorical thing
I would love that, they build up the legend of this object only for it to turn out to just be a legend. Would definitely push the “you can’t change the past” message
Agreed! The McGuffin having zero powers would be MUCH preferable over sci-fi time travel.
Nice twist!
i love that i dont remember the actors name but he plays red skulls hench men in mcu. hes back playing on same side such a good call back to one of the prior rolls to the guy XD. i think hes called toby jones. and hes armen zola in the mcu and hes here to
At the very least, the movie looks fun, and that's all I can say. There were some nice callbacks, the action looks good, so there are certainly going to be moments of greatness, I just hope it all comes together to make for a good movie.
You've sold me on all the story beats. Opening up with backstory, then a "15yrs later" type thing, and having the dial be time travel sounded lame at first but makes sense for the Nazi wanting to go back and have them win the war and him gain more power, and Indy having regrets over more personal things instead.
The McGuffin is a riff on the Antikythera Mechanism, BTW.
I actually have written my own Indiana Jones inspired movie, and I can't wait to see this movie, I have watched all four movies, and liked all of them
As for the other director - remember that the best Star Wars film wasn't directed by Lucas.
you got a big point.
remember that the best Star Wars film wasn't directed by Lucas.
I respectfully disagree I think A New Hope is still the best Star Wars Movie ever
as for Spielberg is starting to lose edge though Ready Player One was a good solid film though as a gamer it spoke to me i can understand if doesn't
@@TheHeston83 Empire >>>>
True that Rogue One was directed by Gareth Edwards! 😉
@@issiahsilva hey if thats your # 1 Star Wars then more power to you but film is subjective there are no absolutes
Yay, the intro is back!
Get Hyped Alex. One more fun ride in the Indiana Jones Universe with the OG Indiana Jones finding his destiny.
Indiana Jones: “If You Want To Be A Good Archeologist, You Gotta Get Out Of The Library!”
Love the Intro!!! I’m sure your excited for some new Indian Jones content and I knew I could count on you to be my go to reviewer of it!!
I've been waiting for this! Thank you so much for doing this. Your vids are always entertaining and informative.
Yesss more Indiana Jones content!
Alex, I doubt we would mind if you took some time off of Star Wars to talk about this movie 😊
Good eye for noticing old man Voller. A lot of other breakdowns missed that.
Indiana Jones is one of my favorite franchises. I really can’t wait for it to come out
Great Content!!! This is truly ur Calling.
It looks like the Dial Of Destiny is based on the Antikythera mechanism. Also, I speculate that Helena is Marcus Brody's granddaughter.
Definitely ancient Greek mythology is involved in this movie. We see the statue of goddess Athena holding a spear and an owl, the statue of Titan Atlas carrying the globe on his shoulders and the ruins of an ancient Greek temple. It seems that the mechanism called the Dial Of Destiny allows time manipulation and altering the fate of humanity through time. According to ancient Greek mythology Titan Atlas was located at Gibraltar ( Hercules & 12 labors ) so probably part of the movie takes action in Spain.
Phoebe Waller Bridge is so funny and such a good actor, I can't wait to see this. Time travel and Indy?? I can die now.
You know it's going to be good when the character Sallah and the original actor that played him is making a return
Wait did Toby Jones play a Hydra scientist in the MCU?
Also insert Dobby joke.
Yes he did.
IF you go by normal franchise tropes, time-travel fits right into it! In all major sequels, you have certain tropes that always play out: a secret past comes back to haunt someone, a relative returns (usually a twin brother or sister), a childhood friend shows up who will betray them, time-travel, a life-changing discovery that could mean someone's doom, the classic "I'm better off without you, so I'm leaving" redemptive arc, etc.
Instant thumbs up for the creative intro graphic and skit. Thanks for all of the other work too, though!
3:40
Why is nobody talking about how that thing looks JUST like the *Staff of Ra Headpiece?!?*
In Germany the films title is „Ruf des Schicksal“ which translates to „Call of Destiny“. No dial here!
I know you aren't doing the "Indiana Jones Explained" series anymore but I would love to see an episode about the Eye of The Peacock, the Diamond that Indy traded for in the opening of Temple of Doom, it also appears in the Young Indiana Jones show as a main artifact. According to the show it's from the library of Alexandria.
Oh, my! You really referenced Uncharted! The second one no less, which is my favorite! I jumped of surprise when you mentioned all 3 of my favorite franchises, the others being Indiana Jones and Star Wars at the top, of course. You're the best, man! 🤩
When this comes out on blu-ray & DVD it could make for a nice double feature night with Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny.
the dial is probably an Antikythera mechanism clock-ish thing
you're deffo IndianaJonesExplained. and we love it.
Given the Greek elements of the scenery in this trailer, I wonder if the Dial of Destiny is based, in some loose fashion, on the Antikythera Mechanism, which is a very interesting (and real!) artifact from Ancient Greece. It's a culture and area that the franchise hasn't explored previously, so perhaps they thought it was time for this film!
Love the intro
Let's be real, it usually goes like this:
Star Wars fan? Probably an Indy fan, too.
Indy fan? Not necessarily a Star Wars fan.
If we're here for the Wars, you can bet we're here for some Indy.
Thank you for this video.
Indy’s goddaughter? Sallah’s kid?
It's possible. Sallah did have a couple of daughters who could match Helena's age at the time of Dial Of Destiny. Although, there are fans who speculate she's related to Marcus Brody instead.
It's Brody's Grandkid.
God I love Indiana Jones! Wish we had of gotten more of them in the 90’s, but I’m pumped for this movie. Hopefully it will be as good of swan song for Indy as Logan was for Wolverine (well at least until Deadpool 3 AKA Money).
This movie is gonna be peak cinema.
I hope you're right about the time travel stuff
I was honestly wondering when we were gonna get this breakdown video :p
Oh man the hold music got me all nostalgic for starwars tiny death star
0:36 well that’s how the trailer for Bad Batch season 2 dropped after Alex and Molly got back from vacation
I have realized that (counting the young Indy stuff) there are the exact number of weeks from New Year’s until Dial of Destiny as there are Indy films. I will try to do a weekly watch of all of them chronologically, let’s see what happens since it’s the last time I can do this.
PLEASE no time travel. The only show that works with time travel is Dr Who because it just does not care about logic at all (its all timey whimey). In almost all other movies it goes bad - either creating plot and logic holes or creating multiple timelines and this makes things too complex and chaotic.
Time travel was great in Back to the Future. We don't need it in Indy too.
There's also a scene in a trailer where the characters are in some kind of machine traveling in what I assume as Bermuda Triangle, I'd wonder what it is?
If the time travel happens at the end, it would be so emotional if Indy goes to be with her dad again, that would be lovely, and a great ending
is the guy driving the parade car also in the scene where a bunch of people pull a gun on Indy? (3rd from left side)
indy has his wedding ring and also i hope they make old one eye indy canon again he so wholesome but savage he a crazy old white man and i love it
Hey, I have that same shirt!
Turn up the cartoonishness level to 11!!!! 😂
I always knew Alex had a direct line to Lucasfilm like that…
My biggest question is, will we see Shia lebouf in this movie?
I always loved how, like, all Star Wars fans are Indy fans.
And about the trailer and the film, I've heard from several people that the Kingdom of The Crystal Skull wasn't good, which I don't agree. It just wasn't made in the 80s, that's all. If some of those people are/were the Star Wars prequel haters, then I don't even care about them. I hope this film to be good; Harrison Ford seems pleased and appears to be counting with that. Regarding time travel, I'm not sure I want to get into that, unless they really manage the supernatural well, like the ending of the previous film. Still, I think I would prefere flashbacks, even if lengthy ones.
Steven has more control then she dose.
KK is not Exe. Producer of Indy 5, Steven is,.
With this being his last ever Indy film I'm kinda curious where the reboot will take us and who will be the lead will it be shia from crystal skull this new character or will it be a young Indy the possibilities are endless
IMDb as her as a producer, not an executive producer, for Indiana Jones 5.
"Dialing In With Indie"
Why does this guy almost look like Luke Evans 😂
did... did Kathleen ever pick up, or is Alex still on hold?
!
Lucasfilm explained!? I like it!!
I played all uncharted games at the top of the year after seeing the prequel movie with Tom Holland yeah its true Indy doesn't get the treasure he's get something more yeah looking forward
Q: Who is the executive producer for Indiana Jones 5? A: Steven Spielberg.
You don't have to apologize for making Indiana Jones videos everytime, same with anything related to LucasFilm. We get it and honestly not many care as much as Star Wars fans do anyway.
People do care alot. Just, it's nice to get some new.
They should have started over like they did with the Bond franchise with a new Indy. Harrison should have said no, I do not have any interest playing a 80 yr old action hero, which he shouldn't.
I reserve judgement until it comes out..However I'd rather see indy retire & go off into the sunset..not erased from history
Indy deserves to survive.
Indiana Jones - Nathan Drake Edition :D
Where is Indy’s son tho 👀
Does time travel fit in something like Indiana Jones or is it out of place like the aliens?
Sci-fi belongs to other franchises.
I like it, sure.
But leave Indy with mythology.
It's kind of funny seeing Toby Jones as a good guy in this then again maybe not. Hail hydra !
Is no one else gonna question why a STAR WARS CHANNEL is talking about Indiana Jones?
No.
Indy is always welcome.
What I really want with this movie is the ending:
*Indy, Sallah, and Marion all reunite together in some special setting like a sunset or a starry sky. And the film ends with these 3 that started the franchise for us, hereby ending Indy’s last crusade, of adventures.*
That would be the BEST way to end this film, now that it has that *Last Crusade* feeling and has the potential to be the REAL last one.
🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠
How does LUCASFILM EXPLAINED sound to you?
Funny how the odd numbered Indiana Jones movies had Indy fighting Nazis and are considered the best of the franchise and the even numbered ones have him fight other evil people (Mola Ram’s cult and the Russians) and they’re considered to be not as good as the odd numbered movies (though I love Temple Of Doom) so hopefully Indy 5 is as good as the other odd numbered movies…
In the trailer at 0:48 you can see a nazi bomber plane in an hangar with soldiers on the left and down in the shot a man who seems the old Indiana, same haircut same hair colour.
The rumors on the street seem to be true looking at the trailer. Indy and Brody's Grand-kid go back in time, They meet young Indy and then he dies saving the Grand-Kid. Which in turn has old Indy fade away Back to the Future style. She in-turn ends up doing everything Indy in the past movies.
“It’s not so much what you believe but how hard you believe it” is a terrible, smooth brain take. Truth exists.
It's not a real life lesson. It fits the world of Indiana Jones.
Tired of Lucasfilm/Disney normalizing deaging in everything. We'll be getting deaged/respeacher movies all the time in less than 10 years.
"...Literally paves the way for..."???? I think you mean figuratively.
If the time travel happens at the end, it would be so emotional if Indy goes to be with her dad again, that would be lovely, and a great ending
