  • The $260 Kobo Sage by Rakuten is a big, beautiful e-reader and is the successor of the 8-inch Kobo Forma. The Sage's design is asymmetric, with a larger bezel on one side-the one with the page-turn buttons-to aid in gripping the device. It’s the same approach Amazon takes with the Kindle Oasis.

These types of reviews aren't actual reviews. Youre jus mtansplaining what the company has told you, with a few tidbits and some polished script. Show the device, talk about what you dont like. This is eithwr a play to make money of views or just a sponsored review becuse they sent you a free ereader.

Thanks Faiz, like others I had been awaiting this review . It was worth the wait!!! It was a great review. I guess your final words said it all for me. Like you I am heavily invested in Kindle with over a thousand books. The one thing Kobo has that would be on my Kindle wish list is the simplicity to download from Your Overdrive account. At this point I will wait for the Oasis upgrade hopefully at a minimum we will get the 8” screen.

Hope you are having a good time.
I have recently purchased Kobo Sage 8 plus it`s pen (Kobo Stylus). but the problem is that I can`t add any note in that note sign section that pops up along the line that you want to add some note. I have seen that people easily do that in review videos on CZcams but I really can`t do it.
plus people will easily highlight anything they want quite easily with a very clean and sharped highlighting ability but mine is like using shade brush, I don`t know what is exactly wrong with it.
I`d be grateful if you could help me out.
Btw I am sure that the pen is quite alright

00:00 👋 Introduction to the review of the Kobo Sage after a month of use.
00:16 🖐 The Kobo Sage has a plastic but well-constructed build, with a textured back for better grip.
00:39 📏 The device is large, which may be cumbersome for one-handed reading but has an excellent 8-inch display.
01:46 🖋 The E Ink Carta 1200 display provides improved response time and contrast, enhancing readability and stylus performance.
02:56 🎧 The Kobo Sage supports audiobooks via Kobo's subscription service, though sideloading audiobooks is not possible.
04:04 🖥 The software is Linux-based, user-friendly, and offers various lighting adjustments but lacks a light sensor.
05:20 📚 Kobo Sage supports a wide range of file formats, making it versatile for different types of digital content.
06:57 🌟 The Kobo Sage is a premium e-reader with extensive features, suitable for both new and advanced users.
08:05 📚 Kindle users heavily invested in Amazon's ecosystem might prefer to stick with Kindle devices for compatibility reasons.

The 2021 Kindle Paperwhite is superior to this. This device is a cheap knock off of the Kindle Oasis. There is no need for an 8 inch screen or a pen to write notes all that is unnecessary. The Kobo is way too bulky. I love the 6 inch screen it is my favorite size. The new 6.8 inch screen with the 2021 Paperwhite is nice but it doesn't give a better reading experience than my Kindle basic which I paid $80.00 for. I think the Kindle basic 2019 that has backlighting is the best eReader ever made. It is not worth upgrading to the 2021 Paperwhite (I have the 2018 32G Paperwhite. The 2019 8G Kindle basic and the 2021 6.8 inch 32G Kindle Paperwhite.) because the reading experience is not better than the 2019 Kindle basic. If you want the 32G than yes get the 2021 Paperwhite. There is no better eReader than the Kindle line up. Kobos are inferior to Kindle's. People who are using Kobo's and like the Kobo experience and store will stick with it. No chance a Kindle user will switch to use an inferior Kobo device with terrible battery life. The Kobo is too big and bulky. An 8 inch screen is of no benefit for an eReader it makes the device too large and bulky to use and carry around.

people really need to stop with this is kindle a kobo killer or is kobo a kindle killer. Because of the fact it doesnt matter if one device is bigger or has better specs than the other that still doesnt make it a killer of the other device. Here is why I think that there not killers of each other one is not better than the other even if it has better specs in canada kindle can not do library books and kobo can and in united states its the opposite the kindle can do library books and the kobo cant. so there for it doesnt matter if the specs of one is better than the other specs being better one and not the other doesnt make it a killer. So sick of people going about these reading devices saying this one is better because its more storage or its bigger or it has page buttons so what. that still doesnt mean its a killer of the other besides the platforms are way different on kindle you can save your margins, line spacing, font type, font size as a theme but on kobo there is no way to do that so if you like a font size and what not and then you change your mind and want to chang it then you say no i want it first way you cant go back to the first way because no font themse to save no way to save the settings of this. meaning you have to waste so much time twiking the settings to get it how you like and for people with ocd that could take hours. no thanks on that.
this video you had im sorry but i dont think that any device for reading is a killer because of better than another in specs because there each different and what not and they do things differently.

Just so everyone knows this eReader costs $260.00 right now on Amazon and $300.00 at other places. The Kindle Signature 32G Paperwhite costs $190.00 right now. Any honest person will tell you that the Kobo eReaders are inferior to Kindle eReaders. The reviews for this Kobo eReader are mixed. The major complaints: Actual battery life is 8 to 12 hours. You do not get 3 weeks of battery life that is a Lie. Too heavy, very cumbersome. The interface is slow, switching between functions is very slow. No way is this a better eReader than any of the Kindle eReaders made since 2018. It is not worth $70.00 more than the 2021 Kindle Paperwhite Singuture Edition.

    • @christopher1800
      @christopher1800 Před 2 lety +7

One e-reader “better / worse” than the other? It depends on what you wish for. I have both the Kindle Oasis (2017) and this Kobo Sage. Both have their up/downsides. I don’t understand the weight complaint for the Sage. It’s a larger device, so you know it’s going to weigh more. Also, it hardly weighs more than the Kindle Oasis, which is much smaller (!!). Battery life depends on what you do with the Sage. It’s terrible if you’re using your stylus, but with reading I have no complaints. It’s not great, but the Oasis isn’t great either in terms of battery life. I’d say the response time for interface and pageturns could definately improve. This is where Kindle wins, and always has won. But here’s a “but” too: a larger screen always needs more refresh time, so page turns as a result will always be slower. The thing that doesn’t get mentioned a lot about the Kobo Sage: the pageturn buttons. I hate them. They’re not ‘clicky’ enough and too level with the screen. Quite often I have to press again to make a pageturn happen. The interface: I don’t mind about either of them. Both have functionality that the other one doesn’t have, so it’s up to your personal preference. Anyway… I don’t feel one is “better” than the other. Just different. I use them both: Kobo Sage for indoor reading (it’s just not very portable), and Kindle Oasis for on-the-go. For a reasonable comparison, I feel screen sizes should be identical as well, and Kindle just doesn’t have one with the same size.
