I just wanted to say that I found your channel by accident but binged the Alien RPG videos and they’re awesome. Thank you for your introduction and breakdown of the system. I’m hoping to run some day and these videos are brilliant to watch. I know I’ll be watching your future endeavours with keen interest.

Free League already has an awesome TTRPG Mass Effect-esque scenario that mixes Sci Fi and Horror: It's CORIOLIS. By the Way the Free League name comes from one of the Coriolis world factions.

I'll check that one out! Love Mass Effect & everything I've played from Free League has been great

If you haven't yet, look at Cortex Prime if you like a modular system that can be modded for any game. On it's surface, it's a rules lite, narrative driven game, and while it never gets as crunchy as like HERO system, it can be made a bit more crunch than it presents if you mod it that way.

Great breakdown, thank you! You mentioned a discord where you got map tips, what discord was that?

Always been interested in picking it up, but not a whole lot of interest locally. Glad you were able to get it to work!

Definitely recommend it! If you can play online/are willing to DM there's a ton of people interested in checking it out!

Good review! Glad you liked it.
I think certain stress results do replace the action. The lower level stuff doesn't. I think a roll above 10 does? I'd have to reread.

Yes, but it's 10 or above on the panic roll that cancels actions. They should have made this more obvious in the rulebook ^^

You've said that you like horror.. my favourite system for this is Cthulhu Dark. It's a rules-light mystery/investigation game that has at its core the 'Insight' mechanic which is tied in to the gameplay really well, similar to Alien's Stress mechanic. I think it's great if a system's mechanics support the kind of game you're trying to run. It's not completely up to the GM to convey stress/horror, but it is actually reflected on the character sheets and in the dice.
With a little bit of prep you can run a wide range of modules from other systems like Call of Cthulhu, Trail of Cthulhu, etc.

I'll check Cthulhu Dark out! Call of Cthulhu is probably the next big horror game on my list to try out. I've heard a ton of good things about it

@@TeganJGaming My group loved it, I'm sure we're going to play it again in December. The AI charts make it such a breeze to run.

The movie Pitch Black would be a perfect one-shot game.
It has everything you need, including extra NPC's.
