I just saw this movie tonight. I’m a disabled OEF veteran and served in the Marine Corps and Army for ten years collectively. This is a beautiful song and still relevant today. What a beautiful voice! Semper Fi!!!

Great, but give them the true facts. 85% that were killed were white Unlike what this racist said at the beginning. She's a divider!

"FTA" is shown on The Sundance Channel from time to time, so if you can't find it on home video, you might catch it on cable. Such a great film and that's a wonderful, moving song by Rita Martinson!

But I cannot help but joke about how they appear to have a juvenile Stanley Kubrick on piano.

What an amazing voice. And all live, with no studio tweaks.
Wonder what ever happened to her?

I very much like this elegant lady's voice. Taken for the lyrics alone, the song is a refreshing alternative to the recriminations often expressed towards all valiant soldiers of that era. However, with all due respect, I do not fully agree with the argument against participating in the war, as stated in this to preface the song:
53 to 59 seconds: "Before we begin to preach and leave our country to spread the word, we'd better clean up our own mess at home." While it is sadly true that the US suffered from even worse racial discrimination at that time, to me that seems like a different issue from whether the US should safeguard other nations or people from being victimized. For example, during WW2 the US suffered from yet worse racial discrimination, and yet it still seems undoubtedly to have been the correct choice for the US to try to rescue other nations and peoples from Nazi agression despite what was admittedly an ethical 'mess at home (in the US)'.
In my opinion, the lack of background knowledge possessed by the US regarding Vietnames culture led to so many strategic and tactical blunders that it may well have been better for the US not to have gotten involved in Vietnam militarily.
However, that is a different argument than due to the fact that the US has a less-than-perfect record of its own. 'Flawed' nations can still achieve gallant goals, if and when they act wisely, and avoid brashly attempting to accomplish what may be, under the circumstances, 'impossible missions'.

@binhthanhvo How do you know that Jane Fonda and/or her family had the video repressed? The film was an embarrassment to Nixon and his thugs in the MPAA, etc. And the movie industry was horrified that Jane Fonda had actually shot at American planes from North Vietnam. Lots of people in high places wanted it gone. From what I've seen, Fonda is pretty cool.

Very good anti Vietnam war song. Beautiful voice. Someone should rewrite and upgrade this song for these times and put a more positive spin on it
