$17.00?!! I rent a cabin in a village called Volya-Kovelska, just south of Kovel, Ukraine.

Usually in Ukraine/Russia, unless the property in question is fenced off OR has crops/tilled land or something, then it's totally fine to be there. Also, land within a certain distance from the river cannot legally be someone's property and is for public use, though this isn't always followed due to corruption.
The trident - it's also meant to be composed of the letters В о л Я ( the Л is on top of the O) - freedom , though the falcon facediving into the ground actually makes a very good analogy for Ukraine, unfortunately.

you should try - prepare your sauna, make it really humid and hot and then after 5-10min in it dip in that icy water and after that immediately return to sauna
