    $1700 is much more than what my expenses are in Sweden. I live alone in a 3-room apartment with a large garden. Have no debts or loans. Paying $620 for the apartment and electricity is included, $25 for fiber internet 100/100, Food and beer between $380 and $470 or less. The only thing that would be added if I lived in Bangkok is health insurance, which we don't need in Sweden as healthcare is basically free, you only pay between $10 and $14 regardless of whether it's a visit to a health center for a prescription or a major heart operation.

    • @thebangkokguide

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  Před 5 měsíci +2

      It’s a good question. You’ll save a little bit on rent, but if you want more space for two people it’s not much cheaper. Overbuilding of smaller units means they seem to go for inordinately cheaper than larger ones. For example the 2 bedrooms in my condo are more than double the price 🤷‍♂️ You’ll def save on hotels and taxis. I’d personally lean towards $3k as a reasonable estimate.

      @@thebangkokguide Ty we are looking at rent in Jomtien no more than $400 and I know that's easily done. We may go cheaper just to have a home port we are trying to use baht bus busses trains tuk tuks grab bolt etc. and walking not buying a car or scooter yet.
      I'm going to be on a pension and 2 yrs social security so we are hoping to have a budget of 4 k max after taxes lol so I think we will be just fine low rent equals being able to explore the country and cheap food over here in the US Maryland Pad Thai 17 -24 a plate compared to 2 or 3 dollars its just to expensive to live oh and we don't drink so that is a big savings

      I think you’ll be fine on 3k. Personally I lived in Bangkok on as little as $600 before. Not ideal but it shows how inexpensive it can be!
