- This run was my first sub 23! Had two big timelosses (about 10s each). One was right after dracula, very dumb mistake. The other was dying two times at the beginning of castle, also dumb mistakes. Overall, a really sick run besides those mistakes though. Gonna keep pushing cuz I love speedrunning this game. Next PB will WR.

I played and beat IWBTG back in 2008. been so long, had no idea they had speedruns, amazing run.
I never played any of these games because I was afraid of breaking my keyboard, but I always loved watching speedruns of this game because they are so inspiring and crazy lol. Great run! You earned a sub from me, a dude with a stupid user name lol.
I thought the same long time ago, that I'd never touch these games. But save points make them less frustrating, however, this speedrunner doesn't even save, lol.

I used to play this game all the time, and 2:23 is the part where no matter what I would always struggle getting through lmao and then you cheese it with that jump strat xD nicely done

There are some extremely good quality-of-life improvements in this version. Platform detection seems way better, the music keeps playing unless there's a game over, some sound effects were added, and so on. It's really good stuff!
And of course, this run was really great! You could practically do it on Impossible!

I remember that I took almost one month to finish this game for the first time years ago, recently I saw that remake and tried it, took around 2 hours to finish it

never knew this was remastered, hopefully its more stable
That is the huge benefit of the remaster. Doesn't crash, has consistent physics, and some extra content added as well (couple of new characters to play as). Highly recommend this for those wanting to get into IWBTG fan games.
Nice, I was playing this a while back but only ever beat up to after dracula. Have you tried Wannafest? It's by the same guys who did this remaster and it's awesome
Definitely want to try wannafest at some point. I'm currently too addicted to this Speedrun right now though

DAMM WHAT WAS THAT TRICK IN THE GRAVEYARD PART TO SKIP THE MOVING SPIKES?? I STRUGGLED SO MUCH THERE
You shoot the save on the prior screen as you are about to jump into the spikes. If you timed everything just right, you should have your savepoint set next to the spikes, and you can jump out again by resetting from you newly set savepoint.

Nice, this game was really nostalgic for me too when I started Speedrunning about 1.5 years ago. I think the Speedrun is so fun for this run, and I have only improved it dramatically since this run happened. Cheers 🍻
how you shoot so fast? and is it possible on the original one from gamejolt?
I vibrate my forearm really fast to shoot as fast as I do. I don't know much about the original game tbh.

how do you run through the spike wall in the beginning room?
When you jump down, rub up against the right side as you are falling. Then wait to hold left until you touch the ground. Then boom, you will go through the spike wall.

I believe the castle theme is from Monty on the Run for the Commodore 64. Really great theme.
what's the difference between normal and remastered?
Quite a bit was changed between the two. Whole new physics engine as well as all crashes fixed. The game has unlockable characters and new hidden areas. Other small quality of life improvements. There is probably stuff I'm missing, but its pretty clear that the remaster is the best way to experience the game.

I am not exactly sure what you are asking. What is quick loading?
you shoot a save block to set your new position
from what i remember in IWBTG when you reload a save, you can jump again immidiately out of it, even in the air
also it resets things to make hitting certain tricks easier

how do you shoot so fast?
I use my entire arm. Sort of a vibration method. Definitely bad for your arm if you do it too much, but it allows me to shoot 11-13 shots per second.

Remastered? When did that happen?
The game got a remaster about 2 years ago. Revamped graphics, all crashes fixed, and more consistent physics for a much more enjoyable playing experience. Highly recommend it if you enjoyed the original.

There was a save on the screen before. I line up about as far as the bullet travels in this game. Jump and shoot at the save, then run to the position I want to be in when the bullet hits the save so that I respawn there. Really neat trick/skip.

Two methods: I mostly tense up my forearm and vibrate it on the key for 10-12 shots per second.
The other method is to flutter click the button with two fingers.
Either way it's pretty hard, but at least flutter clicking is easier on the body.
