James needs to do more Man Lab.
The PC brigade won't allow it.
check out The Grand Tour
i read meth lab
agree
@@GalenIRL to be fair James May's meth lab would be a fun watch
I will happily listen to James May constantly talking on the radio. Its just so calming
I legitimately thought James would gather some old equipment in a dingy garage and broadcast on medium wave, but instead of playing out terrible drum and bass he would slam some trad jazz interspersed with duck facts.
He needs to post a video from somewhere in the Maldon area I understand the old equipment is at Nigel Harris home he set up a studio in his dingy Garage with the old studio 1 from the Ross Revenge when they upgraded the studio to digital equipment and Dave Foster looks good since he lost weight in his suite at the end of the video
It would be hilarious if he slammed some bangers. Where I live there are quite a few illigal stations but most of them play the worst drum and bass/house you've ever heard. I did find a reggae station once, the host was stoned out his box and dropped some wicked tunes, made the A12 grid lock much more fun!
Todays lads have nothing on are generation the real pirates like my Uncle Mike Jan Penske
@@VickyGeagan oh yes we fucking do hahaa
Evi1M4chine your a fuck tard... there's no such thing as a bad genre of music just songs you don't like.
James May. He rambles on, he likes a pint, he is a national institution. Cheers.
"You and I both know: dead air is a crime." - Dave Clifton, Radio Norwich
There's a shitload of garbage in the air, I'll take dead air anytime in the week!
Its only a matter of time before the radio police track and confiscate you're transmitter. You could have transmitter sites located all over the city and keep remotely switching between sites to confuse the attempts of direction finding.
They dont have the time or the funding. I've been transmitting for over two years on an FM frequency.
@@thra5herxb12s I have been doing it for 5 years with pretty powerful transmitters and long range, but I moved to MW now and I cover the whole large town. Had it like that for a year, no problem.
You can apply for a limited temporary license from ofcom for special events like this.
Or you could have a discreet setup in a van/car/truck and don't stay in one spot for longer than a few days. It would prevent the FCC finding a site and getting a DNA sample.
Is it still so impossible to legitimately set up a new local FM station and apply for a frequency ? It was said years ago that the FM band would open up once DAB got going.
“Secret local rooftop” - Literally on the roof of Christ The Cornerstone Church 😂
Only for James May does the latest technology include d'Arsonval movement mechanical VU meters. 😁
0:13 Building a Viking longship "rubbish?" BOLLOCKS... You lot need to amass all the viking kit and togs, get properly berserk on mushrooms, invade Calais, ram-raid a wine shop, and guzzle the spoils back at ManLab. That's easily a two-parter.
I'm down
As a Brit, it was surprising that he turned down an opportunity to invade Calais
Sounds like a plan 👍
James wore that tshirt on a topgear episode, I think it was when they stayed overnight at a hotel and there was a racetrack in the garden and Jeremys sls had a broken tyre due to him for going to town on the NASCAR track
Sounds like the beginnings of Sealand
Loved the concept.👍👍👍
That's pure class 👌
"A deer ran up to me and started nuzzling my knees because I think mum got shot the night before". Howling 😆😆😆
A lap top, a transmitter, an antenna, a huge music collection and a total disregard if anyone listens or not. I play full albums from my bedroom. Good idea to keep the transmitter outside. Let take it.
We used to do this too but over the 27Mc radio. Exactly the same. Pass on the coordinates, and then with pencil and paper. Lots of fun!
Ayy, that oo gauge class 91 and the LNER tender eluding to his love of railways. Good man James
I love top gear and all those personalities.
I love the idea of this.
never needed that much kit in my day
I love James May
Love that shirt!!!
You better stay on radio...
Hello, this is Radio ManLab 107 point North FM, We are proud to bring you the only Pirate Radio that is fully Licensed and endorsed by our Corporate Sponsors and our overlords the British Government approve of.
We need more James may radio
What fun!
This reminds me of Ricky Julian and Bubbles in the middle of the American/Canadian border on a river.
I was a big fan of Laser pirate radio in 1984
enjoyed it!
a british out door version of "aprairie home companion". sublime.
God I love James May, he's the greatest bloke ever
reminds me of episode 7 of the Goodies when they made there own radio station :P
Second Side Up did this during the 1970's and thereafter, and it is on the BBC and here on CZcams.
Very helpful Thank You
I'm a fan of pirate radio so I enjoyed the episode, but the part I laughed out loud was 6:42.
I would honestly love to see James build a viking long boat.
Jim mate you guys are too much I sooo love the mellow show and you audio production work the guys across the pond give all of you their best love Peter Phillips flat and Dave Porter looks good in you video clip. Gotta love the pirates of Cobra Mist limited and Merlin communications. Give Andy, and Nigel our best from across the pond and keep a listen for Radio New York International and their new supporters group.
I fully expected him to broadcast on an AM station.
I only ever tried to paddle a crackle once. I ended up in the middle of the river spinning round in circles 🤣
Why the hell can you be fined for dead air?
Konstantin Stelzner don't apply logic to law.. Be a good NPC
i guess because you therefor block those frequencies and dont play anything on them... i think?
For the same reason you can be fined for parking in a handicapped spot, You're using space that others could make use of.
Penis Anthony Dublinier in English please sir?
Blake Belladonna you still can. Just plug an Ipod in XD
The British celebrate their history which makes their citizens, not government, quite loveable. In Canada generally, and with a few exceptions, we adore the British people. Good thing since we are the Commonwealth. Sounds scary but really quite COOL. Love from Canada, the land across the sea.
Nice Goldring Lenco and the Garrard 301.
His deer joke was hilarious
It no secret roof top transmitter, the signal can be tracked with a direction finder. U need to take the transmitter off shore and point it back at the city from international waters.
Yes
In the netherlands they still do it in the rural parts, if you drive and let your radio search a chanel you sure to find some piratenradio
Some idiot pirate was playing music on the freq. Of Qmusic the other day 😂 how to get busted 101
Informative, but still the best comedy on TV 😄
❤❤Namibia 🇳🇦
Please upload the Man Lab 'Junk Mail machine system' Video. Cheers
Much like REA BOW on Sunday Long Live on you tube nice show tune in on every Sunday
That's a narrow boat James, not a long boat!
Well technically its long conpared to its width...
The whole point is to keep your studio secret-- that's why it's on the water. Doesn't help when you announce your location.
I would love to know for that antenna on that roof how many watts power did the TRANSMITTER have just a standart 100watts or a 1000+ watts witch just 100watts station would covs the most of Bedfordshire.
Please what equipment do I need to setup mine please
Build you own viking longship would be amazing!
108.9 Kurupt
2 4 6 8 James May
is fucking great!
Northamptonshire not Bedfordshire - Did you know that Radio Caroline now broadcasts legally on 648 AM
Buckinghamshire not Northamptonshire...
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_Keynes
108.9 on your dial
Does anyone know if manlab radio is still going?
3:17 James is such a wally
He should have stopped by Gilmour's river boat studio. That would increase his listeners.
Needs more "FIGNUTS"!
What all needed, do without license... What device to buy?
Just feed the world Joni Mitchell, Pink Flod and The Beatles puttering down a canal. Nice.
They should streamline home radio applications and make it much easier for citizens to license a little part of the spectrum for a home radio setup under 100 Watts.
That ol Dog tho
im gonna recreate " The Hallow Speaks "
it is the same radio
great for dooms day or zombie apocalypse
06:05 Man Lab Dog!
I expect him to go to Sealand
Kid Charlemagne always spoke the truth
malcom in the middle?
Is this just a big goodies reference
You know radio Caroline and radio Jackie Are perfectly legal licensed radio stations now
How are they funded?
Bulging vulva?
The issue is you have a repeater antenna and now therefore broadcasting from land. Those antennas would be confiscated.
Milton Keynes isn't in Bedfordshire. It's in Buckinghamshire
It's Linslade in Bedfordshire, just outside Milton Keynes, across the Buck's border.
@@BenFuller321 It's clearly Cosgrove at the start.
Consult the national club for a listing of local clubs where you live which is the best way to get into this fascinating lifetime Hobby.
Every nation in the world allows amateur ham radio except for North Korea.
How to create? More how to be a cool radio guy with cool gear and a big team :D
SeaLand time
So I'm guessing like if you did something like this in your backyard they'd be able to pinpoint your location and fine you or something?
How to get arrested.
it isn't "pirate" if you are required to get a license.
I built a 1,021 watt FM STEREO (with real 19KHz pilot tone), but it pulls far more
than that from my off grid power so I was not able to do it for long as it overheated and died.
Do you sell your transmitters?
I should learn how because the way things are going in the future years there might not be an EFFECTIVE FCC left to ENFORCE it's laws in the states.
for this to kinda work, wouldn't you need to be at least 12 miles off the cost of the UK?
old man's podcast
This was funny as fuck 😂😂😂
Up to 25,000 for even a second of dead air?
Shit like that is why everyone rebelled and made their own country.
Why does this remind me of Alan Partridge..? Lol...
kevin coolins Roevin
ive sniffed so much coke tonight my jaws swinging and im just sat here smokin a spliff watching this its great
Talking about a pirate radio station in Brentford, hmmm?
Aidan Allen k to the u to the r to the u to the p to the t kurupt fm family
🤓HILARIOUS🤓
Hail anarrchy!
Mobile data is still a crap way of linking to the transmitter site. Not reliable enough.
i thought it said James May's Meth Lab....
kevin coollin zooom
How in the hell are you gonna be fined an extreme amount of money for having radio silence. Crazy.
BBC ‘ Local ‘ Radio in Southern England - was ANY radio transmissions ever more Generic in the entire history of RF or simply Radio ? ( Apart from the Generic Breeze , Wave , Capital , Heart, IOW , of course ) oh- and Totally Smug BBC Radio 2 , playing all the ‘ best ‘ releases from Elton and Rod and Diana Ross and The Bee Gees from 45 years ago , even the Presenters on BBC Local Radio are Generic. One day at work during a programme “ changeover “ , I called Darren the Digger over and invited him to listen to “ the banter “ between the two Presenters as I was convinced it was the same white , middle aged bloke . He listened and said “ they sound exactly the fucking same “ ! To be fair to BBC Local Radio , the Soccer Programme on a Saturday afternoon does contain guys with ACCENTS - incredible but then again , they were Football Players at one time 🙄love from Wessex
