  • Hi All Hope you are keeping well
    Here is a full version from a previous video concentration on the finer detail of the Bobcat 1 tent.
    An idea lightweight small compact tent as a decent starter. I bought this from Go Out door in a sale but prices have went up and you can get them in most camping and out door shops, so shop around or check out the second hand market.
    As i said i this is a full version from a previous video so i just put everything together to make it all about the tent.
    Any questions please feel free to add a comment
    Don't forget to give it a thumbs up and subscribe for more wild camping adventures.
    I found this tent fantastic value for money even though it gone up in price its still good value but definitely check the second hand market for a cheaper way.
    Thanks for watching

    I could be mistaken but, I think the yellow clip is in fact very useful if you roll the top of the bag together (as you would with a dry bag) then close the clip. That seals the bag and prevents water ingress and loss of gear.

      Excellent Peter its a great size for the Motorbike. I found if you have a trekking pole at the back to lift up the back of the Bobcat it will give you slightly more room and takes the fly of the inside to reduce condensation. If you know what i mean Take a couple of extra pegs just incase to. Have the best trip sounds amazing.

    An FYI on the pole tightness. It can bend further than you expect, trying to fight it over a wider arch makes it more difficult. Bend slightly further than feels comfortable and it meets the eyelet far easier.

    Very detailed video .
    I find that while your moving about in the tent .cooking getting dressed etc or just sheltering from wind and rain .its best to drop the inner down giving much more space .you could always just sleep in it without the inner up just set your bed in top of the inner .if the bugs come to call set it back up and crawl in .set like this the tent is actually big enough for 2 people to sleep inside .its the saggy inner that makes it feel smaller than it is.

    • @Campingonthewildsidescotland
      @Campingonthewildsidescotland  Před 7 měsíci

      Totally agree i did think about dropping or actually leaving the inner down. to make it bigger inside so gives you a great option. Very cosy and wont take long to heat up inside being compact. Thanks for the positive feedback glad you got something from it and hope you have great adventures in it.

      Hi Stephen, the OEX bobcat has many price offers from shop to shop. I find it a great tent, when i got it the price was £65 but now i think its £110 ish not sure if i would buy it for that but i do like it. Not much room in it but i like that kind of compactness. Go Out doors may have them built up so well worth taking a visit if you have one near you. It lightweight and can squash in to your rucksack if needed.

    I bought one of these recently. I had an absolutely nightmare trying to put it up. The main pole was about 4 inches too long and it took me the best part of an hour to stretch the fabric enough to be able to set it up.
    However, I've since left it pitched for over a week in quite an exposed location. It's seen moderately high winds, torrential rain and serious frost and nothing has bothered it. No leaks, no bent poles, nothing torn. For the price and weight, it's very hard to argue against this product.

    • @Campingonthewildsidescotland
      @Campingonthewildsidescotland  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I had the same problem with the pole it could be doing with just a touch shorter, seems to be a common issue from others campers. I did think i was either going to snap a pole or rip the tent so i didn't want to be to heavy handed.
      A nice trick leaving it up, sometimes we take matters into our own hands to fix the issue. Glad it worked for you, i find it a great tent to pack away and a fairly solid little thing, plenty securing points to stop it from the fierce winds we get. i do feel pretty safe in mine and 100% watertight.

      Hi Dave hope you are well, i love this tent, for many reasons probably because i got it for the then price of £60 its now back up to over £100 but i still think its worth it. Yes its small compact and not much room in the sleeping area but its something i prefer its quicker to heat up and a simple tent to work with and i like how i can pack it away in my rucksack instead of being on the outside (keeping it out the rain).
      Great tent for a beginner

    That's a really good preliminary review you've given us.
    Now, it occurred to me when you're were pitching the outer that even hiking just with that alone (that is to say without the inner), the tent would make for a decent emergency / lunch-stop shelter (certainly much safer than a bothy bag -- see TheOutdoorGearReview as to why).

    • @Campingonthewildsidescotland
      @Campingonthewildsidescotland  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks for the comment, I really have taken to this little tent and did have a think about that, leaving the inner out. It has quite a big space when you leave it out maybe use a tarp for a ground sheet but would definitely give you much more room. I might just try that next time i am out in it. Thanks again for the heads up and sure others will take something from that.

      I find it a great tent, i would say they have jumped in price so if you are looking for a new one shop around or even buy one second hand. I paid £65 from Go Outdoors and they have shot up. I dont think they are worth the price they are now but if you get a good second hand one will be so much better. Its the only tent that i can actually put the full thing in my rucksack which is a bonus.

      @@SuperEarther its a tricky one, i am such a fidget when i sleep so i am all over the place. I use the Berghaus Peak Self inflate which is not bad but there are way better matts on the market i just refuse to pay a fortune for them so i kind of put up with a pretty rubbish sleep lol. What i can say is that most camping shops actually have matts blown up so you could take one down a lay on it to get a feel for it. Even worth putting out a message on the Scottish wild camping facebook page or wild camping UK page to get better feedback from those who have the air matts and use them.
