I think Sony needs to continue with these plates/sides/panels for future consoles. In the way of making it consumer friendly to remove and install. They need to launch these sooner, like within a month or two of the launch of the console, along with the controllers.
Provide a base version, with the option to buy these custom accessories from the start. Now, if they can manage these custom plates for their future controllers, similar to how you can remove that black bottom piece on the controller and add a custom one, that’d be dope!
People love to customize their things, especially if it’s super easy, like plug-n-play type of things. They would make a killing right off the bat.
From a marketing perspective, only a few months after is way too soon. The customer base is still extremely excited and they sell themselves easily.
After a year or two you need to extend the product range to keep the sales coming through and give people a reason to think about the product again. It gives all the existing users something to buy and gives those who haven’t purchased yet another reason to. If you release it all at the same time, it’ll all get lost in the hype and add-ons like these will stagnate in sales.

It's the lighting. Notice how the purple one looks bright purple at first but then in darker lighting it looks almost blue.
The Blue controller is real nice!! Buttt for me, they’ve killed it with the black/white controller and ps5 🔥🔥 it’s incredible

I love the white it's such a futuristic vibe. My favorite though would have to be the red. Then pink. Then white. & I haven't even seen the pink in person yet. Black sucks though

The one thing I like about my first run dBrand plates is the skin that goes across the front to make it all matte black. That shiny plastic throws it all off. They need the skins to match the colors, IMO

Red is my favorite color so I love it. I do agree though, electronics tend to look better when they are a neutral color like white or black.

You know what I really like about the face plates? they are really easy to switch out so, if one day you don’t want the cosmic red anymore you can switch for the black face plates.

I am torn between faceplate colors. Only problem is none of the ones I really like aren't out yet lol. I'm kinda leaning towards purple myself 😊 that said I'd LOOOOOOVE a green controller and faceplate for sure
Incredibly smart of Sony to make the PS5 so customizable. Who wants to buy a limited edition console just to have a different look? That was one of my issues with previous consoles across the board. Now all that's left is to make more PS5s!

I remember being 9 when i first got my ps2 and how happy i was playing it. Now kids are unfortunately not able to get their hands on one due to all these scalpers and people who actually buying them for a higher price. It is sad that in today's world greed extends to gaming consoles that were meant for children to enjoy and have fun and now you have companies who are not doing anything about it. It is not as if the scalpers are doing anything exceptionally hard either, they are just selling an original product that they had no hand in manufacturing or developing just getting it through bots. At this point I am not even surprised anymore

My midnight faceplate arrived today , will be changing mines over tonight, I already got the midnight controller on launch day last year . I also installed the WD NVMe memory with heatsink included last week . Thx for the unboxing

I'm torn between buying the black plates and a controller to go with them or waiting to see if Sony ever release more Playstation themed plates and controllers. Like, with text and logos on the console plates, and properly coloured X O Square and Triangle buttons on the controller. Buying another set of plates probably wouldn't be all that bad but buying a black controller for 65 quid and then buying another one when/if they ever do this for what'll probably cost even more? No thanks.

I think if you used the top white plate and the bottom black plate it would probably look better than what you tried in the video, being the top plate as black and the bottom as white.
Man, I remember back in the day the collection of 360 face plates my step brother had, since they were so easy to swap out you could change them whenever. I guess the PS5 isn't too hard, but seems like a pain if you wanted to change the color all the time!
I painted mine once I discovered they were removable. I was like 15 though. Now I don’t give a shit, I wouldn’t expect any adult to think about swapping colours often at all. I assume most people will grab the black

The plates are solid, but i still think third party plates still winning coz of the customization options go beyond just the color, they let ya do like different graphics and stuff on the plates which i reckon Sony will eventually do down the line like they did with the different custom PS4s centered around game launches.

@@necondaa lol, you can feel free to disagree. Ain't nothing wrong wit dat. Just that as someone who went third party and have seen some of the third party designs it's been dope to see a lot of creativity coming from those companies and regular folks doing the designs and getting them made via the third parties. People doing like Bloodborne designs, mines a leopard based design, I've come across like Ghost of Tsushima based designs, Hotline Miami designs, God of War designs and all sorts of dope custom plates. Which is basically inevitably what Sony are gonna end up doing, just that they're doing it from a more slow roll out like doing a few color pallettes on the controllers first then the plates etc
There's no way they wont. If Sony still try to pull selling entire consoles for the unique game based designs people would flip their shit that they're trying to pull that crap despite plates being a thing.
Edit: Plus, there's no way Sony knows that some people just won't go for those versions because they don't wanna buy a second console. They're good for people who don't yet have said console, like my 360 was the Halo Reach version, but if I already had a 360 before hand I wouldn't have had the Reach version.

I own a PS4 Slim and it's absolutely silent no issues unless you own the launch model. I will personally wait for the PS5 Slim.
