I was born in 81, and I didn't remember Ford having such nice trucks still in the 80's but wow. This is beautiful. I love old muscle cars, hot rods and pick up trucks. The 90's, I liked the dodge trucks a lot, but I didn't like Ford trucks and I don't think I've really been impressed by any of their designs since. I have no idea about quality of them or other brands, but I just, don't like the designs. Dodge got off course in mid 2000's around 05 but the ones since look good but this is a bad ass truck. I'm gonna have to get me one one of these days. I love a lot of the 80's trucks. Saw an 80's Ford Ranger recently and it looked like a small version of this and it was red. Really nice!
Had a truck just like it. I put some 36×12.5×15 STL SUPERSWAMPERS ON IT. That thing went everywhere. Loved it. Let a friend use it to make money cutting firewood and he smashed it up into a tree on a hill and bent the frame on it. The back tires rubbed when it moved. Miss that truck best one I ever had.
I have a 84 with the windsor engine also shortbed, Mine has been used bigtime but its still really nice. i'm totally not a pickup truck guy but i love this thing.
I have owned SEVEN of these trucks (this is my favorite body style) and I can tell by looking at this that THAT is NOT the original motor!! Don't get me wrong this is A BEAUTIFUL TRUCK AND I WOULD LOVE TO OWN IT MYSELF!! But the motor is out of something newer from something built after 1988, because the fuel injection set up never came on the 1986 model truck!! Again I would STILL love to own this thing!! And again don't get me wrong, the fuel injection is a great touch!! But in 1986 Ford was still SERIOUSLY using only carburetors until 1988, when they started tinkering with the fuel injection MORE. I bet it gets better gas mileage and starts better in colder weather that the carb set up would have!!

Nice truck, I'm curious what you are asking but not so curious to call. I'd use it as a truck, that is a vehicle that is simple and easy to work on stuff under the hood. Plus parts are probably cheap for it as it's been out for so long.

got an 86 my self, all original but it's an XL not XLT which is mainly 2wd vs 4wd. I don't believe that tailgate is original to the truck. I may be wrong but don't think so. If I am I apologize.

Ford actually put the 302 EFI into their F-150s starting in the 1985 model year. I own an 86 that's all original with the same motor.

this beauty literally has be breathing heavy im not a short bed fan but black with chrome sets me off almost as much as ford royal blue with chrome
