I am Earthworm James. I talked to the guy doing this a couple of years ago. It's nice to see it looks like he's making some serious progress. Though I did note one problem just from watching this vid, he's not using my skins. I replaced the default skins because they crash the certain games when you enter the emulation menu, usually to go save state. Plus mine just look much better. I may contact him to about this. And some other things. Anyway thanks for the heads up.
Good catch with the in game menu cleanup. It does need a once over.
It was pretty cool getting schibos help with 1964 1.1, and the pj64 1.6 leak from 64th note. Fun times.
Thanks crediting me and EmuXtras. I created a video myself on CZcams, as I was sick and tired of people bashing the emulation, stating it was not worthwhile or quoting ancient emulation posts from nearly 15 years ago. The OG Xbox emulators have come a long way in the past 3 years, never mind 15. Incorporating many improvements taken from recent PC based emulators.
In regard to PCSXbox, the controller configurations should all be set correctly, for each individual game, Dualshock/Analog etc. - if you've copied over the correct files in the pack that I created. I'm currently in the process of compiling an Xmas update for the PS1, check back on the forum for more updates. The emulator has also been updated to V25.
Thanks again for the video and notifying the rest of the community of the scene that's still alive and kicking on the Xbox.
Cool video. I'm only just getting interested in this stuff. I've got a vested interest in playing older racing games with racing wheels. I want to play the wipeout games with flight controls aswell. I imagine when the time comes I will be on some of the emulation forums bugging people for tutorials. Just got myself a brand spanking new Series X and found out about the dev mode abilities for it. I've never gone down the emulation rabbit hole before and never even had a PC before but its on the need to have list for the next couple of years, or ASAP. I've got a YLOD backward compatible PS3 that I'm planning on fixing up soon. Never done anything like that before either but I'm just going to do it by the numbers, I'm sure I will be able to handle it. I'm in the research phase at the moment so every bit of info I can get is really helpful right now. I want to build an arcade set up aswell and get an arcade stick set and get it working with all the best arcade games I can lay my hands on. It's one thing at a time though. You can't really rush these things. I don't think I'm going to go down the OG XBOX route though. I want to start with the Series X dev mode route first because from what I can make out it looks like the most accessable way of doing something then go from there. Got a feeling this emulation thing is going to be a big part of my life going forward. I'm going to stick to games that I really want to play though and going to build myself an awesome catalogue curated for my personal tastes. I don't like clutter so streamlining will be my ethos. I think it's brilliant that something that most people would have sitting in the back of a cupboard can be brought to life in such spectacular fashion. Keep up the good work dude.
Long live to the incredible and enormous fan homebrew scene for Xbox. I think only Wii can compare, and as a modded backwards compatible Wii now with many emus up to PS1, i have to say the Xbox scene its superior. And i'm still very impressive with PS1, N64 and Atari Jaguar emulation. I love the Xbox. Cheers from Argentina and good video, you own a new sub! 🇦🇷✌️
I really wish Wii & Wii u had a port of xbmc
❤ the box !!! X
Great video
Very nice video
I had one with even the original Nintendo games and it had a little switch button on the left side. I was way too young to understand the jam that this console was and I think it was in 2009. I can't believe emulation was around for so long. I didn't pay too much attention to it because it didn't have PS2 games on it.
I still have mine a 1.4 crystal and a 1.6 xbox both modded with a tsop and aladdin modchip flashed with evo x 48lba update, there's a dude in Australia that specialize in 1.7 ghz Pentium 3 Tualatin install it's about 650 aud, most games can be patched with 1.7 ghz and widescreen hacks via hex edit with some 720p patch also.
Ive been into the xbox modding scene since it started pretty much and while i think it is truly special and its punching above its weight with how much it can emulate id say the PS3 and Wii U are superior at emulation, not to say that og xbox doesnt have its place still.
Itll always have its place under my tv.
i still got my modded og xbox and wii u but i love the fact i can play retrorch games online on my xbox series tho
Especially now that Dev mode doesn't work without business license and the method's without dev mode are no longer available in the microsoft store for Series s/x.
mans is prepping to go viral next year loool
modded WII is fine too
Xbox is the way to go
PS3 is probably the best console for modding and emulation, especially an early fat model because you can play PS2 games from disc using original hardware. It’s recent enough that the hardware can support so many consoles for emulation, but it has been out long enough for the modding community to develop for it.
I think Wii or Wii U are better because of how easy is modding both and run any homebrew you want, even PS1 emulation and Gamecube backwards compatibility
An Emulation king that isn't a pc is a Xbox Series S or X. Throw retro arch on there and you can emulate up to PS2 on an Flatscreen TV with no external devices for upscaling or need to mod anything.
An OG Xbox is decent for emulation if you want to use a CRT. No need for any downscalers and just need to either soft or hard mod it which isn't too hard to do. However a Wii can also natively output 480i/240p and the soft mod for that is SIGNIFICANTLY easier.
Your video itself is honestly an great demonstration on why the OG Xbox IS NOT the emulation king in 2023.
The reason I don’t count the series X or S is because of the limitations of dev mode. Would have a very hard time dumping entire console libraries to it and have them displayed with cover Art, menu music, etc. The biggest issue though is that Microsoft could just change the settings and then lock you out of using retroarch on those systems at any time. Every update they release is another opportunity for things to break and have to be fixed by someone. These older systems are a much more Stable, and more enjoyable development environment for many.
@@roy_rree i can play background music cover art in dev mode now ! dev mode has really updated
I've got both and I'll take my modded og xbox over a series x or s for emulation any day of the week. Yes the x or s can do ps2 but I have a modded ps2 for that and the emulator front ends with videos previews and such make it the way better machine than the x and s for this in my opinion. I can play everything I want on my older modded systems with ehtter guis.
The Series X holds that title mate, but an RGH XBOX 360 is THE GOAT for all 360 and a great deal of OG XBOX games.
What is an RGH XBOX 360. I've got a 360 slim. The Shiny one. I want to find the best way to play non backward compatible 360 games. Most of them work on the series X but some don't. I was thinking of filling in the gap with an XBOX One. As far as I know that plays all the non Series X/S compatible 360 games at better quality. There's not many actual OG XBOX games I'm interested in so they don't really concern me. There are a few but I can get round to those later.
@@Kenno10rapid Type RGH XBOX 360 on here bro. You'll be amazed haha :D I own 12 of them ahahahahahaha. They are THAT GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13:21 what game is?
Sin and Punishment
i dare to say the wii is even better and easier to mod
The Wii is easier to start with but ps1 and N64 games that don’t have a virtual console release do not run as well as they do on Xbox.
@@roy_rree that was the past, wii homebrew scene had a lot of improvments in the past few years especialy when it comes to ps1 emulation, now most of the games run at full speed, good compatibility and dont forget the 240p support thanks to wiistation 2.4.
n64 emulation the wii has the edge now but they are close and all that and more with just a stock wii and an easy mod...
I'll take a modded xbox over a modded wii any day of the week. Modded wiis aren't on the same level as a modded xbox in 2024.
The pack isn't easy to find lol.
i like wii more, just because of the 240p support. My ogxbox is only for ogxbox games.
If anyone wants a cpu upgraded Xbox hit me up!
Me me me
Here
Cool video but ouya remains emu king 😎
definitely don't need a SSD..
spoiler, it's 2023
OG Xbox considered the last ever retro console. PS2 is considered the first of the modern consoles despite being a year older due to sales and lifespan.
Yeah, your comment makes no sense.
@@JoshLineberry Popularity of PS2 means most people still don't class it as retro weird I know
