@@quetzalmillan For some reason when I started to read this it sounded like, "Have you tried unity also? You know you should try this unity course on udemy and learn game design..." Lol
This makes me so sad. All the efforts we put in creating games with the BGE and now they remove it? It's heartbreaking. Can't we all write to the Blender Developers for an integrated version of the game engine?
Man, I am a very old subscriber,Used to follow your every BGE tutorial. But then I don't know what happened, you just stopped uploading. I began my game development journey with BGE and now I am sort of an expert in unity.Your BGE tutorials were Excellent.Really happy to see a video on this channel after a very very long time.Hope to see more stuff !!
That is strange, I have no issues with the construction of my game, Just creating a saving system. I am using version 2.79 for the game sweet child which is very close to being in beta state. This does explain the drop in tutorials and new about any game development. Maybe after the release of sweet child they will see how nice their game engine was and reconsider shutting down that aspect of it.
Dear ThaTimst3r you may be disappointed with Blender for the efforts you put in the BGE but UPBGE really looks promising and I would love tutorials on how to use it, after all the logic bricks system is still the same so you already know all of that stuff. I saw a couple of people who apparently have already made games with it. Maybe there is a way to open are old BGE games with UPBGE and we can continue from there... In any case, you are the best tutor for BGE and it would be such a waste to lose you... I don't like Godot that's why I found Blender, I was looking for an alternative. Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck!
Glad to hear from you again, ide like to share my interest in Armory as well and would love if you could start some tutorials for Armory. When I was learning BGE I started with you and I hope to continue it with a new slew of videos relating to the Armory Engine.
Nice to see you again! Hope you will be making some Armory tutorials in the future. The majority of what i know in gbe is thanks to you. Thank you for that!
Armory3D looks exciting. But the problem with Armory3D is Haxe language. I could find only one tutorial series in youtube for Haxe (well it's mostly about Kha). So coding side of Armory will be hard. I wish they could include Lua or Python option for coding purposes. That would break multiplatform publishing but it also would be easier to learn for beginners.
I discover we can made many things about games with BGE old versions too.example BGE < 2.77 dont have slow motion setTimeScale() but combined ticRate with vsync we can got similar effect.Well may be for AAA+ games for now bge working low but yet is very good for make games!
It's sad. I won't be even able to use cycles. I've used blender internal to make quick renders and things like this. And a simple scene in cycles takes around 0.5 h to render on my potato. And I realy like BGE too!
Now with Eevee you need a powerful graphic card as well as CPU and ram. Unfortunately, I think there is no alternative unless you use an older version of Blender. I did make animation with a Lenovo Ideapad 100s in the past, but now trusted installer has eaten up all the CPU so I changed laptop...
Miracles Happen Not true! I can run EEVEE scenes with Principled BSDF shaders on my Chromebook with decent performance. It has 4 gigs of ram and dual core and Intel Celeron. I think you just haven’t used the newer more stable 2.8 builds yet lmao
SideVirus Art & Animation, that's great to know. I still have my Lenovo Ideapad (Intel Atom) and I've been trying to make it work with a Linux OS for months now.... Everything works apart from the audio so I'm trying to fix that. However, I'm now using Blender on a powerful gaming MSI laptop and WOW, what a difference! Windows 10 just renders little laptops completely useless... With Lubuntu those little laptops really fly in terms of performance!
In my opinion the bge need evoluion for working with dynamic shadows for no low expansive processors in run time, need evoltuion to physics too same thing for not cost expansive processor.Cycles render need working inside New BGE i hope in 2.81 version on Blender
.... um... just to show what the Blender Game Engine Could do.... My studio used it as a render Solution for a 48Hour Challenge: blenderartists.org/t/the-curious-case-of-dead-end-city-short-film-made-in-the-blender-game-engine-and-eevee/1127993 ...and since no one knew how to use the engine in the studio exept me.... IT WAS HELL ALL THE WAY :3
Really sad. I like most put a lot of time 3+years into developing a game, it feels like a massive slap in the face. Now I have a broken game :( and wasted years. It's all experience and will help with my next game. What game engine would you recommend.
Matthew Singer same here, but if you read the info about UPBGE it looks really promising. We should just test it as soon as the 2.8 comes out and see if we can open our old BGE games in the new UPBGE - somehow, I think so!
I'm still bummed. I spent all last winter working on a game and it's half finished. Can one import an old BGE file into a new game engine without having to rewrite the whole damn thing?
Hi, there is another interesting game engine called OpenSpace 3d. Focused on IoT and VR/AR. What do you think about this one? Is it worth the time to learn it? Thanks!
Problems: 1. Not open source, not free 2. Attempts to make building demos super easy (usually means you can't do much with it). If you want to build something that uses code, then learn code. Don't waste your time with "easy to use / no code" software packages, they usually are super limiting, expensive and end up wasting your time.
From what I could tell because he mostly focused on the open source aspect of the engine rather than it's current capabilities. Which is a fair point imo
💜 UPBGE! Long live the BGE
Switched to UE4 a year ago and i don't regret it
Bge is still very useful for prototyping though
Have you tried unity also? If so, which one do you recommend the most?
@@quetzalmillan UE4, - it's more artist friendly (and better)
Use Godot if you want something more stable or Armory3d for better graphics and workflow(but less stable since it's in beta)

It would be cool if you make a series reviewing briefly each game engine, including unity and UE, so we can decide where to move on next.

Scouser 19 You don’t need to learn Haxe. Just use the logic nodes sort of like what BGE had.
Yeah, I quite dislike Haxe. I don't understand why they didn't use python as it's already built into blender.
Whey, i missed you! Nicely explained, I didn't even know Godot had added 3D capabilities, I definitely need to check that out!

Amadeone :D EEVEE runs really well. You can use that.

More to the point: What happened to Blender in general?
I've seen the new UI changes.. and its nothing like the Blender i knew and loved...

Great video. You explained everything really well.
Why does Blender do not use DirectX instead of OpenGL? Or probably both...
I guess OpenGL is better for Linux users..? (for obvious reasons)

why did you not like it?
Ive tried ue4 and godot, but i like armory 3d better.
Its just my own opinion, sorry if you thought i meant that armory 3d was the best, but i just like it better.
When will you start making regular videos like you used to? I really liked watching your videos. Please start making regular videos 😢
As of UPBGE can i transfer my game to that engine?
UPBGE is good .. but i will go with Armory
please make a video on upbge 3.0
How does blender earn Money ???
What happens to your tutorials
thanks for sharing this video, please make tutorial about armory3d
Started with bge but switched to ue4.
