      Someone has given a personel comment in my gmap business. Its related to my personal life. How can I delete this review? I have flagged it about one year ago but it was not deleted by google team yet. I tried to delete this business listing from gmap but Its visible as permanently closed. Is there any way to completely remove the business listing or the review? Please help.

      @@satyabratpanda797 panda have you tried to contact customer service through your business profile? Go through the steps using "other" to try and avoid an automated reply. It comes in no reply but you will also get a email that you can reply to if your questions have not been answered. I have seen a business go from closed, to personally closed, to disappearing completely so I am 100% it is possible

    this is gold. I have a client on the fringes of their city not ranking as well as we'd like for "service + keyword" searches, and I knew it was because their competitors were right in town, but didn't know the google barrier literally fences it off LOL thank you!

      It doesn't "fence it off" as such. If your client was the only provider of a specific service near the city you are trying to rank his listing would show as proximity plays a big part. But since there are some many competitors in every vertical, it makes it a lot harder.

    Great information as always Luc. I'm still hoping that Google will update the proximity factor to help service area-based businesses. There are so many service-based businesses that are getting shafted because they do not have a brick and mortar.

    Excellent video! I own a canoe rental that specializes in multi-day trips and 95% of my customers come from between 90 and 250 mi away. Any suggestions of how to apply this information to this larger search area? Thanks again and now I'm officially a new subscriber!

      Welcome onboard Scott. It depends on the keywords you are targeting. For example, anyone located 100 miles away from your business searching for "canoe rental near me" is unlikely to find you but if they search for "canoe rental Wisconsin" you are more likely to rank.

      As explained in the video it will be a lot harder to rank in the city where you don't have a physical address. To attract customers from the city in which you don't have an address make sure you build some relevant content on your website.     Always great info, could you do a video on GMB suspended profile? Recently I have updated a client profile and a few moment later got suspended, this was very frustrating, maybe you have tips on this subject? :)

      Reach out to google help, I’ve had GMBs reinstated. Make sure any changes made are from the location and ip the gmb is located/created at

    Awesome boss! It was very informative. Well, my computer has a lot of secondary category edits. In this case, if I have added a lot, will there be any damage to the listing? Although I do not provide all the services in the category 😊

      @@rankingacademy But my competitors are doing that's, and they are ranking high... Every category is slightly the same: such as, "taxi service" is the main service but they add more such "mini taxi " airport taxis, and so on! If I add on this way will I have any problem? 😊

    Hi, I am currently using all the Google tools you have suggested and what a difference in phone activity. I have a brick and mortar office but like to go virtual! Must I maintain a physical location to continue to use Google my business, I know it isn’t called that any longer.

      Hi Francis. Not sure exactly what you mean by virtual. In order to be eligible for a listing you must meet customer face to face so if you decide to operate online only it's unlikely you will qualify for a listing

      If it shows on Google map it will also show on google search. It will depend on the keyword you are looking for

    We are a nationwide company that does business online and our independent Hosts are in different cities across the country listed on our website, so it has been a challenge to get our GMB listing to rank in different cities.

      If you don't serve customers face to face (either they come to you or you go to them) you are not eligible to claim google business profiles

    Your videos have helped me with my clients rankings in multiple categories, but I can't seem to do this for my own business. I'm a commercial videographer using a mail and print suite for my business address, and although all I do is travel to clients to film I got suspended from Google for the address. I hid my address so I could get unsuspended, but I really want to do ranking for my service business. Am I out of luck?

    Luc, please help. I am having a problem right now with getting into google business profile manager. All along I was able to do so with no problems but suddenly no matter how I try and get into it it just leads me back to a google search with the words "my business" in the search box and below shows one of the business's I have on there and some options such as edit profile, read reviews, etc but no adding users, no creating a google business website, etc. No switching to another business. It's NOT dashboard as I normally see it. Do you have any idea what is happening here and what to do about it??? Thank you!

      Yes Google is pushing you to use the interface directly from search. You can do pretty much everything you could do before. You just need to find out where the options are.     Hi another very informative video, thank-you!...when setting up my Google Business Profile I set it up using my personal gmail email account, should it have been set up using my business email account?? [ its not a Google email though, its my custom domain email]...if so how do I change it to my business email account?......I did try to change it by adding a user through my Google Business Profile then sending an invitation to my business email then clicking the link to accept but when I did it said " You already have access to this account" but they were referring to my personal gmail account!.....now Im just confused...can you help at all please??...

      Thank you so much. What I normally do is create a specific Google account for each new profile I set up. I will use the same account for everything Google related (google analytics, AdWords) so everything is under the same roof so to speak. The way you've done it will work too. I just like to keep business and personal communications separate

    Great explained... I have one query...I have 3 listings in GMB 2 are from India and 1 is from USA...all are verified...now, if the user does search from USA, despite of having USA listing, the Google shows Indian listing to the users, why it happens?
    I would like to make PRIMARY LOCATION to the USA listing so how can I do that?

    I have a question I was hoping maybe you could answer. I had strategically chosen 20 cities that would cause my the highlighted service area to cover almost the entire state of Ohio. I'm going to be running ads and I'd also like to rank up and so I'm wondering if it would be a better idea to choose 20 counties surrounding my County in which I've worked before, or would it be better to choose five counties. Will condensing the service area cause me to compete for rank against the competition that is also only within that service area or should I leave my service area covering the entire state and just run ads locally?

      I will say I was shocked to see that a couple pictures that I uploaded were viewed 50 times when I looked the next day and I've never run ads. It makes me feel like I must be doing something right

      You should pick the service areas in which you legitimately operate. Note, whatever you choose will have no impact on where you rank in those areas. It just helps draw the boundaries in which you operate on the map.

      @@rankingacademy I can help anybody in the state, and my goal is to further my reach because ever since lockdowns the company I'm with now allows us to quote and sell by phone. I do have clients at every corner of the state after 17 years of being in the business. So basically you're saying that ranking in a specific location is irrelevant to how large my service area is, and that I might rank number one in my County and three or four in a neighboring County is that correct. Do you think it would be wise for me to have two different business pages one set up locally for people I can meet with in person and the other the entire state of Ohio strictly offering to do business over the phone? I really appreciate your help

    I like the platform, is easy to use, hassle free updates.
    There is a downsize, get numerous out of area calls, from Arizona to Florida up to New York.
    Of lot of spam calls, text and emails, in addition to scams.

    My listing was taken down two weeks ago with no reason. After 7 years they took it down stating my listing doesn’t follow the guidelines. I have not changed it in years. Don’t know what to do. Any idea?
