    Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

      Someone with a pretty successful channel said, that "I don't want you to subscribe or turn the notifications on or whatever. Just leave a comment about what did or didn't like" Point being, if someone likes and subscribes, but never watches another video, it's actually worse for algorithm. Leaving a comment or just like is better. Ofc, full on follower, who subscribes and watches most of the videos is best, but sometimes people lose interest in something they did like before. I know that I'm guilty of this. And yt algorithm doesn't exactly like "dead" followers. But yes, it is an actual marketing method- just make a insignificant mistake in the video, so everyone feels the need to correct you, and just profit :D

    Hey Mr. Zach. City kid here. Love seeing these videos. Love seeing Onyx learning to drive the farm equipment and driving his own race car. Love that he has a dirt bike. Dude's living the dream and he has a great dad. I'm serious. Nothing more important to a boy than a dad who spends time with him, teaching him, and listening to him. I've begun to understand that because the 6-year old down the street who doesn't have a dad has adopted me. He's annoying and a pain but the other night he came out in his jammies and gave me a hug good night and I melted. That love made it all the annoying stuff worthwhile. I'm learning a bit from your videos watching you and Onyx about what's really important. I can't be his father but I can be his big bro and teach him and learn about that word my mom says I need to learn about, "patience". Love the videos. Keep up the inspirational work.

    While I'm glad to see grain used in whatever manner, a quick check on ethanol subsidies shows them still in place, although they've evolved over the years. The subsidies were brought forward for repeal in 2011, but the Senate did not pass the repeal. Quote: As of now, government subsidies for ethanol production total approximately $7 billion per year.
    These subsidies make it more profitable for farmers to grow corn for ethanol than for human or animal consumption, affecting corn prices. (end of quote). Shrug.

    While it is awesome that they can use ethanol for energy and it's awesome that you are a farmer and we appreciate it. The ethanol that is in the gas makes it absolutely suck, motors don't run as good, gas mileage is terrible, and if you leave it sit for a month or longer in a small engine forget about starting it or having it run properly.

    • @fastxcr7002
      @fastxcr7002 Před 2 dny +6

      Been running ethanol in every gas engine for 20 years and not seen this. Ever though that the oil companies blend the worst gas with the ethanol? Very little change in mileage especially with E88. All small engine get some stabil for winter and start in spring. Unless running 110 race gas in everything all gas has a shelf life

    • @BazilYat
      @BazilYat Před 2 dny +1

      Yeah but on the other hand, having a vaguely stable climate trumps your gas mileage.
      And by the way - if you properly tune an engine to run on E85 or similar fuel you can get better gas mileage, and if you use proper hoses actually rated for ethanol it doesn't kill your engine. Stop blaming the technology for your own ineptitude; just because you're not treating the engine right doesn't mean it's bad tech. I come back to the previous point - everyone's planet trumps your convenience.

      @@AndreasMadsen The most common type used for plastics and fuel products is light sweet crude, which is found in great abundance in North America from Alaska to Canada to Texas. The reason why we get it from OPEC is because it is cheaper because they don't have the same environmental laws to deal with that we have here in the US so they can pump it cheaper and sell it at a higher price. When a barrel of oil was about $120 was when the US and Canada started getting oil from the vast oil sands in southern Canada because the price of oil made the difficulty of processing the oil sands more profitable. OPEC then opened the tap again to drive down the prices because the didn't want the competition and the stopped oil sand production. The Middle East does not have the majority of the oil in the world only the easiest to get to and produce. When they are empty the US and Canada will be sitting on the largest crude oil deposits in the world(which they already do we just don't pump it for the above reasons). Remember the Exxon Valdez incident, that was crude oil out of Canada, and most of our domestic fuel comes from our own oil not foreign oil. That said, the US gulf coast refines most of the worlds crude oil into usable by-products. So when I hear people saying the US is going to war over oil, it is laughable because, no, we are not. We've got plenty right under our own feet if we need it.

I literally used more "gasoline" with 10% ethanol than I would have using pure gas. If we're trying to save the planet using ethanol, mile for mile I'm burning more gas and doing more harm to the environment than if I were running pure gas.

      @Isaac_132 I learned from my dad that ethanol was murder on engines back in the 1970s. It burns hotter than gasoline. It also would reduce the life of fuel filters and other parts not accustomed to the heat. It killed the fuel economy of the first car I ever bought new. A 2005 Ford Ranger with a V6 engine. I watched my mileage go from the low 20s into the 10-15 mpg range when they switched gasoline to the e10 stuff. The farmers are selling their product and I have no quarrel with that. In Germany, he drinks beer.🍺
    In Argentina, at the foot of his caravan, he prepares a steak on the grill and sips mate.🧉🧉
    In Russia, at the end of the field, sitting on a bale of straw in an enamelled tin bowl,🥣🥧 he gulps borscht with his comrades.🍚🍚 🍚🍚The nomenclatura has forbidden him to drink vodka at work, so now he drinks plain water!
    And the American in all this? the sterilized cellophane dish of a cosmonaut! and Coca-Cola. 🥤don't take the time to take a break, and eat while you ride!
