Hi, I’m Patrick. I’m a freelance science writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and a master’s in clinical exercise physiology. I used to work in the clinical setting as a certified athletic trainer, physical therapy aide, and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. After working in the clinical setting, I went back to school and became a teacher. The goal of my content is to help normal people, not just pre-med students, learn about the human body. That might mean explaining a topic from an anatomy class or exploring a topic from medical history.

Slight correction at 1:06 - I should’ve said that you can see the intercalated disks. The gap junctions are in the ID’s but they’re super tiny, and not visible on light microscopy.

"One nuclei"? The latinist in me is crying! Histology is really cool but I'm so glad I'm done with that part of medical school, as someone prone to migraines and photophobia I do not appreciate having to look in a microscope. Pawlina's textbook was my main source of other information, I enjoyed reading it.

We'll see. This kind of video is easy (and fun) to make, so I'd like to make more, but it's not the best for views. If this one every takes off, I'll definitely make more!
