Product Review: What is a Murphy Cabinet Bed?

- What do you do when you have family or friends needing a place to stay? This is a perfect option for you if you need to find an extra bed for them to sleep on.
Murphy Cabinet Bed:
Pros:
* Its moveable - you don't have to build this into a wall or display. What ever room in your house works you can put it there.
* This bed looks and acts like a cabinet. If you don't use it often it is still functionable. No need to clean off the top of the cabinet when you use it or not.
* Looks very good and even includes some storage if you need to use it.
* Simple to set up and take down. One person can do it. Takes less than a minute.
* Comes with a mattress. (Queen Size 6" foam mattress)
* Multiple colors to choose from
* Side shelves to place a phone or glass as well as a built-in power source to charge your phone or other device if needed.
Cons:
* You have to completely clean off the entire bed to put it back. (Have to find a place to store pillows, etc.)
* Limited to only a queen size mattress.
* The 6" in foam mattress is exactly that. only foam which means it will break down quicker than a regular mattress if used often.
* Price is over $2,000 - It is not cheap, but it does come with a mattress.
* Heavy - It is not super easy to move. Once you place it somewhere it is unlikely you will move it much even though you can.

Thanks for that detailed pros and cons list. I was thinking about getting one for my future studio apartment, but I don't like the idea of the mattress wearing away that quickly.
I know people who have used as everyday bed for 3 years (1000 nights?)and thought they might replace the mattress in another year but most people its a guest bed so 15-20 years should work.
Imagine that tv falling on your head while sleeping lol

It would be nice to see a "lived in" look for these beds which I have not found... what's it like lying and leaning back if you want some reading time before sleeping in it and reviews on the matress...
So far it seems it just makes a good bed, flip up trays and usable storage drawer but did find a guy who drilled a small hole and installed a great little reading light.
I want one!!!!

Great but what worries me is weight. One day when I have to move how hard is to pull it apart. It's to heavy to move it assembled? And where to buy replacement mattress?

Hello! Thankfully, these mattress replacements aren't as expensive as a regular mattress! They usually run anywhere from $200-$400. And you will only have to replace the mattress if it is regularly used.
