    This woman has such a sweet smile and unbelievably positive attitude considering what she has had to endure. I "Liked" this video, but like is hardly the correct word for it. These interviews are so important and I watch them. Let us not forget what happened so we can try to prevent it from ever happening again.

    What a woman.!
    To all the people complaining about the interviewer, consider this. It was taped in 96 which is so different to current day technology and expectations. They’re also volunteering their time.
    At the end she says “I’m in the phone book” that in itself demonstrates how she could not have imagined u tube and the breadth these testimonies would reach. I am extremely grateful towards both herself and the interviewer for their time and the lessons in all of this.

      Yes and we have to realise that the purpose of these wonderful interviews is to collect and document detailed historical facts, not to have a conversation.

      I too am grateful, but I think he should have been more careful appointing interviewers- some are as bad as Nazis, firing questions and interrupting. One poor woman spent almost 11 hours jumping from past to present, then going back again. Most are good in spite of the worst interviewers, so I watch on. :)

    My heart goes out to all the Jewish people who suffered during the war. Those times were so terrible for them. I don't think I could ever forgive the German people who surely knew of these atrocities done to the Jewish people.

    What a wonderful woman you grew up to be, enduring so much especially being so young. As the interview progressed, i began to wish we had been friends, I'm not surprised that you had friends wherever you went. RIP thank you for sharing your story

      In Christopher browning lectures he explaines why they do that. Shoah has rules the interviewers have to keep the conversation on a specific track its not a free flow of information based o n where and when the survivor was they want only certain information for the record and its different for different areas poland Russia Germany France etc talk about this not just anything they want to share. Other orgs are different he said

    • @binkytube
      @binkytube Před 2 lety +2

      @@Kid_Kootenay I've heard A LOT of these. The interviewers do not do what this interviewer is doing. This is the first interviewer who loves to hear his own voice, constantly interrupting and incessantly talking over this lovely woman. I've heard at least 70 of these and this interviewer is very rude.

    Wonderful storyteller and a wonderful woman. Her English is exceptionally good. (Chava emigrated to the US only in 1964, after living 20 yeaars in Israel.) I enjoyed her testimony despite the horrors. The part on Fredy Hirsch (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fredy_Hirsch) is especially interesting. Many of her excellent industrial designs can be seen on the Internet. (Type "Chava Ben-Amos" and see the pictures) One small correction, if I may: the river at Hamburg is the Elbe, not the Danube. (I happened to live there for 3 years: 1959-1962. Hamburg has been beutifully rebuilt by that time.)

    There are no words to describe Holocaust Survivors I cannot begin to understand how mentally, physically painful it must be to be living in the present day, the past must appear to be a another lifetime only it was not how dos one begin to understand human behaviour , an horrific , atrocious, unbelievable time, yet here they are as we are.
    I wonder does HUMANITY learn anything from the past
