    This was the greatest snatch event ever I witnessed. The Saudis were great and cheering for all athletes, the athletes were great without exception, and finally the commentary was unbiased and awesome. Thanks to everyone.

    Do these judges not understand that it’s more of a stabilisation thing and not a full on muscle press out? Absolutely unacceptable that those lifts were not counted, oust that rule PLEASE

    • @patricklang7162

      Such a ridiculous rule. I can understand a literal press out, but when you have a slight bend of stabilization it’s a whole different story.

      It is the worst rule ever. But to be fair, most weightlifting rules are idiotic; the knee-elbow touch no-lift makes no sense, and the high drop rule is nothing but archaic.

    I vote if u can lock the weight out bottom line it counts. Jerk was incorporated to get more weight in an overhead position, so who cares as long as they can lock it out bottom line? If anything its more impressive if they press it out cuz damn thats some strength

  • @noahglenn8305

    Calling an elbow wobble a press-out is just dumb.. when you make your sport look dumb, ppl stop caring about it.

  • @ennisgunns
    @ennisgunns Před 8 měsíci +4

    Pressout rule must remain.
    If press out are allowed, its going to be difficult to referee and will ultimately undermine the quality of lifts.
    And certainly not when the best ever does not do it.

    • @fpupesh
      @fpupesh Před 8 měsíci

      yes but it needs more consistency. we've seen wobbly lifts being given but the tiniest of elbow wiggle being ruled out.

    • @jmcsquared18
      @jmcsquared18 Před 8 měsíci +4

      No, it won't. That is a dumb argument. Pressing makes it harder to make good lifts, not easier. It's not like people are going to start strict-pressing podium-level clean & jerks. Press-outs on jerks (not necessarily snatches), the idiotic no-lift for a knee-elbow touch on the clean, and the rule that a drop too high is a no lift, need to scrapped immediately.
      At the very least, three whites needs to be automatically declared safe from any jury reviews. Because jury reviews on clearly solid lifts are the real problem here. But the elbow-knee rule and the high drop rule need to be canned regardless.

    • @fpupesh
      @fpupesh Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@jmcsquared18 if they scrap these three rules i'm pretty sure we won't need judges or jury at all :D

      @@jmcsquared18
      How exactly would you define a good press out? How many buckles of the elbow? One? Two? What angle of bend? Can it occur in the hole or standing up?
      Removing the pressout rule introduces a greater degree of subjectivity which is the main problem now.
      Its a slippery slope, same with elbow on the knee. How long can they keep an elbow on the knee, etc? Think it through how would you write these rules?
      You seem like a fan. Keep the standards 100%.
      Juries were introduced to do just that. Audiences and coaches, with the benefit of replays, were able to see what the judges couldnt and this was causing issues. Juries are about maintaining an objective high standard. As objective as can be. And lets not forget the aesthetics of a tight lift.
      Degrading the standard is not the answer.
