- ONE Championship bantamweight kickboxing star Wei Rui insists there was nothing controversial about his unanimous decision win over Hiroki Akimoto at ONE Fight Night 22.
ONE seems to favour certain gyms and fighters. Why didn’t Suriyan Thiannok win a contract with ONE last week? SEVEN fights, SIX wins and he has received SEVEN bonuses!!!! What more does the man need to do to win a contract? There is definitely favouritism going on. Very unfortunate to be honest!
Yeah i think there’s some kind of deal with certain gyms and it’s predetermined who is eligible for a contract and who is not.
Also favoritism towards certain gyms when it comes to matchmaking, bonuses and judging.

Akimoto was more aggressive but Wei Rui outscored akimoto because many of akimotos kicks were off the mark and he was beaten by Wei Rui's counter punching. Just count the clean counter punches to Akimotos head vs Akimotos clean kicks. They got checked mostly. Akimoto might have won if it went on for a few more rounds as Wei Rui slowed but to me both fighters seemed much slower than their old selves. Not really too exciting of a fight.
not even close. akimoto landed far more punches and even body kicks. he did more effective damage
