darrell adds a special element to each video hes in. i think a dope video would be having darrell make 3 of his favorite dishes that he thinks is the best and have you and andrew or whoever else do a taste test and pick your winner. something bout darrell cooking gets me going.
Or do the opposite have the guys each clean and cook the first fish they catch in a pond or lake and have Darrel do a blind taste test
Darrel is just killing it from his chair on the bank. And just as calm and collected as can be unlike Trey who looses his mind over anything. I guess it comes with age.

@@shellcracker18 that's all I do. Even my expensive gear was cheap. 🤣 My 2 most expensive rods... I found one on the ground hidden in the tall grass. Then I got a $350 custom built rod for free from a promo staff deal I did.

I’m 42, in Oklahoma, used to be huge into competitive soccer and just had some major back and knee surgeries which has moved me off soccer and onto one of my early loves, fishing. I enjoy a lot of Angler’s on CZcams. But as I lose a part of me, fishing is filling that void, 10x over. And you’re showing all the variations of how to get into this amazing sport. I've bought some truly cheap reels over the years. Been broke for ages and my gear shows it. After wanting one for like 4 years, I finally got a Shimano Sienna. $30 at Walmart. And it's smooth as hell.
heeeyyyy great to see a Duckett rod in a video. I've been using them for like 4 years now. I love them. The paradigm reels are fantastic, as well. I have 2x Triad rods. 1 spinning and 1 casting. a green ghost casting and 2 silverado casting(7ft and 7ft3in). Paradigm casting and spinning reels, and the 320RB black reel older series. The topwater spook lure is the LOUDEST lure I have ever used.

Love when the cheapo gear performs. I remember slaying salmon with a 7ft ugly stick, cheap Shimano reel and 10lb test while all the guys around me not catching anything have $300+ combos with 20lb test minimum 😂 I'd take those reels any day!

Lojo... You have by far come a long way in your content. Been following you for some time.. in fact... I have taken the " budget friendly" approach to fishing and have seen a ton of success. Even did the whole marshmallow catfish adventure... Magic! But I digress. Thank you for keeping it reel... And showing those of us who can't afford to break the bank that fishing is an amazing day of fun anytime you can go.

I bought my rod (reel included) for $7 at a yard sale. It was a Shakespiere. I've been using it for years and caught countless fish. Pretty good for being the same cost as a lure these days
Depending on which Shakespeare it might have only cost $20 new at walmart, but they do have some more expensive ones too. I bought a Shakespeare Durango 6 foot medium rod at Walmart and just put a $10 reel on it last night. I put 8lb co-polymer line on it (rod rate 6-10 lb), so now I am waiting for next fishing trip to see how it performs.

I'm actually shocked at the performance of those reals however, I don't want to take the chance of losing a great fish because of cheap craftsmanship. It's good to know that I can get a reel so cheap if I was in a pinch 😊
That is if you consider 4+ weeks delivery as in a Pinch
It would be a dope reel for trout though
They get that cheap because they don't have to pay for any of the design work, they just copy others' work. It looks like a Shimano because it *is* a Shimano, just not made to Shimano standards
My spinning set is £20 all in and I've had it years and it continues to catch basic maintenance is the key 👌

Just wanted to point out that your prices were pretty far off, you were looking at the price of the spool only, not the entire reel in your opening shopping bit. They cost over double.
I saw the same thing. I'm sure the reels are probably still a good price, but it's not exactly honest to the video. Love LoJo's vids but this is kinda sus.
I did not see that. In fact the $3.47 spinning reel was just that, and the baitcaster was $6.46, so where is the info you are talking about?

Wow those are cheap I've got a spinning reel around that price to and it's still working after a half of a decade of fishing with it the Baitcaster has a bit more mechanisms than a spinning to function so I ain't surprised by the proformance glad the boys Yak and tray was their to help test them to catch fish love seeing neighbor Darryl amazing video as always I can't wait for the next one

You are right. However, I would not buy the cheap $3 - $4 dollar reels. Get at least a $10 to $12 dollar one that has a little better quality. If you went up to $30 to $40 on some of these "cheap" reels you might be surprised. Maybe Lojo can do more of the reel challenges going up a bit in price for each challenge.

Just two days ago, I was fishing exactly the same way as Darrel except I had slugged a non collapsible deck chair out to a river bank. Unfortunately I didn't catch anything, ...mostly because I fell asleep and had one of the best fresh cool air, outdoor naps I have had since I turned 70.

Lojo, I bought three reels from Amazon about a year ago. The name brand is Akataka. They are well worth the money. One baitcaster on a lews Hank Parkeri im8, and two spinning 2000, and 3000. The akataka 2000 is on a cadence primo 7’ medium heavy. Cast a mile and is very strong and smooth. I did end up using the supplied washers to adjust line lay. It’s perfect. Very happy with these affordable reels.
I got the Lews, Hank Parker IM8 speed stick from Walmart for $40. It’s 7’ medium heavy fast. It pairs up perfectly with the Akataka baitcaster. Casts very well and is strong, in addition it has a more than ample spool capacity. One of my favorite setups when it comes to budget setups. You can’t beat it.
Temu has a lot of fishing stuff for cheap you should do a challenge on there ..

As far as the knob on the spinning reel, you can get some cheap ones with bigger knobs on them. I have seen ones for maybe $10, or less, which is still pretty cheap.
I mostly fish for trout with light spinning reels. I have two cheap spinning reels that cost around $10 to $12 dollar, and they seem fine so far. Both have good drag on them, as well as 13 bearings and metal gears. Only time will tell how long they last. I only just started fishing again within the last few months, because I am taking my 88 year old mother fishing quite often to get her out of the house. I bought low priced gear, because I did not want to make a big investment in fishing gear now, when low cost gear will get the job done. We now have 6 rod/reel combos to use that are all low priced. One of my mom's old reels even had a spool that was cracked in half just below the top of the spool, which I did not know until I went to put new line on. I super glued the two halves back together in the correct orientation, and that reels has been working fine for about a month now.
Keep up the video, and maybe ones of these days I will catch some bass using what I learned from watching you. However, I do not think there are very many really large bass in my local lake, but I do know there are some bass in it. Hell, even the Bluegill in that lake are on the small side.
I love trout fishing. It's what got me back into fishing a lot. I have some cheap reels on some ultralight rods. I bought them 7 years ago and they are still fine. I bought 2 ( 10 bearing ) Sougayilang reels for $20 each and they're great. I think my BPS Crappie Max was less than $20. Shakespeare Micro Series ultralight rods are around $20. Nobody can really say anything bad about that rod . It has no competition at the price. I've have had no problems with bringing in larger fish with these ultralight setups.
