I just want to say... I was present for Ron Fassel's 286mph pass. That was my favorite AA/Fuel Altered growing up. Such a badass machine and a really cool guy.
Also lucky enough to see the mob, and Texas ranger fuel altereds run! Priceless!
The sound from the stands on that Kebin's full pull run was delicious!
My dad used to take us to Irwindale Raceway back in the day(grew up in Covina).... it was Chaos...those FA's were nutty!

Blown nitro roar and cackle..love it. However cool as the modern AA/Fuel Altereds are; really they are just Funny Cars without the full bodies. Gotta have some serious cojones to drive those things though.

Last I remember, in the '80s, Fuel Altereds were 245 MPH "Pedal cars" snorting down the track going every which-way. Jaw dropping to see them in the 4's over 300.

I was lucky enough to see the Alaskan grizzly run the fifth fastest time ever, match racing Ron Fassel in the Pepsi altered and also racing Ricky Ruiz I the Nevada Rattler! Priceless!😉👍

I don't know how these Fuel Altered drivers manage to fit their balls in such little cars. I figure that as the cars have got faster the balls have got bigger and that's why the cars are a little bigger so they can accommodate them.

NHRA screwed up getting rid Altereds. The return of that class alone would elevate NHRA to the moon!
Going to 1,000 feet stopped me from going to drags..how can we compare our childhood heroes to today's heroes with 2 totally different races...yeah I know they got faster so extend the shut down area..im just not interested in 1,000 or 1/8 mile..

Those altereds are a handful. Early altereds with the short wheelbase were totally unpredictable.
They were but i wonder if these may be a little .more cause how much mire horsepower they make now

Take a Funny car Chasis and set it up like a Top Fuel and give it some supreme fuel and there's your Altered Fuel.
What caused the crazy front suspension shake at 6:00? I thought something broke.
I doubt I will ever see a better match race than that one. The great thing was they each got a piece of the record.
Those aren’t altereds , they are funny car chassis with roadster body’s

500 ci. Most modern-style fuel altereds use the same chassis and powertrain as a funny car.
Weenie would have been happy to see this... one of the things that his life revolved around was racing.. the AA/FA record was something he was proud of... Congrats guys...
is the clutch and clutch mangement system in AA/FA close to what it is in Funny Car and Top Fuel?

6:10 the burnout shutdown sends a harmonic sinewave through the car frame with the steer wheels oscillating left/right. That seems troublesome/worrisome .

Not truly fuel alters. Check out the wheel bases. They are funny cars with out their bodies. Real fuel alters wheel bases were much more shorter.

NHRA has lost me and others. It like NASCAR is too P/C and sanitized. No more 1/4 mile, no more AA, no more Fuel Altereds.....I will probably never go to another of either one.
From a driver point they lost us years ago. We are all out bracket racing for big $$
Altered from a bracket car, I'm guessing? Altered from past seasons AA/FC losers, maybe? Try calling this class something else because these are bespoke race cars and ain't altered from something else. Stop shitting on drag racing history.
