Another great demo. I'm sorry I missed the live. Daniel, you aren't being lazy. You are just being efficient. :) Thank you Daniel, Seth and Marissa!!!

Daniel - You are so personable - I feel like I am learning from a trusted friend. I love the way you “think out loud” - sharing your reasoning for every change and addition. The video is long - but there are so many useful nuggets I stayed till the end. For example, great tip about adjusting the exposure in Capture One tethered then moving the light power up or down to match for the next shot. Where you called yourself lazy - I would call those move “efficient” - excellent results in less time.

You guys rock, as a team. Excellent work, Seth, on the “re-knucklization”. :)
But seriously… These live shoots are always fun to watch, and I continue to learn more details related to portraiture, which is a good thing. Marissa looks sooooo healthy, and I always enjoy her fun personality. (the “pucker” pose… Ha!)
Love the reflector change you made at about 47 minutes in. Not only did it make the catch lights look more natural, but the larger white reflector illuminated the bottom part of her eyes in a really nice way, accenting their transparency.
The “sweat” was a nice touch for the final shots, too. Thank you for continuing to take the time to produce these! Happy holidays to all of you and your families.

the switches are for distance of focusing and 2 types of stabilization. for portraits the most important switches are AF, IS on, and sometimes the focus distance switch to the front when I get too close and it wont focus.

I love all of your online tutorials. I've watched almost half of what you have on Adorama YT channel. Do you ever invite models with different skin color? I live in Asia and would love to know if there any differences in terms of using lights, camera settings etc. if a model has, for example, darker skin tone.

@58m - when adding the soft box for the hairlight, with the direction of the light and the reflector in front of Marissa looking like it will bounce right into the camera, how are you not getting lens flare?

so when you set colour blance on the card does that set it for every image shot after that or do you have to do that in another process in Capture 1

How would you cancel out the ambient room light with a mirror less camera? Just underexpose til the viewfinder shows black?

    • @DanielNortonPhotographer

Same way, but I would set the camera to not show the "actual" exposure - s you can still see to compose and shoot :)
