Edit: when it comes to tanks, each and every support company you add lowers all other main stats like org, piercing and armor, so if you are going to add any companies, I suggest flame tank, logistics and AA if not grean air.

    I just did a game as the Soviet Union with armored recon on all my infantry. I focused more on armor than speed. If it’s on infantry you only need 4 km/hr. I ended up with about 18 armor on every 10 width infantry. The chance to have enemy do only 50% damage due to the armor made it so I could hold the line at the border and didn’t even have to abandon Poland.

    One thing I want to point out is that recently I used heavy tanks in a single player game where I had 100% red air the entire war because allies were garbage and even Britain got naval invaded by Germany. It turns out that heavy tanks were able to conduct offensive operations with thousands of CAS buzzing overhead. When I tried to use modern tank divisions of 44W they got deorganized instantly because of the red air, couldn't attack anything with them - but heavy tanks could continue attacking for days if not weeks. So there may be a possible reason to use heavy tanks. Winning the air war vs like 3000 CAS and 5000 fighters as a minor was harder than building those heavy tanks believe me.

      @Manfred von Richthofen since the combat width is all over the place, I think it is more relevant to look on the main stats and disregard combat width. Up to 44 you are fine anyway.
      And then aim to get 30+ org and especially 50%+ hardness(!). Because a lot of the good offensive tactics (blitz, breakthrough,...) query for the division hardness to be over 50%. And it directly reduces soft attack, which is usually much higher than hard attack.
      So the more hardness the better.

      @deusvult6920 Před 2 lety +2

      It's a math thing. I guess when there are less of the tanks per division reliability is totally irrelevant. If you have a big 40w tank division it's a little more necessary
      Reliability with planes is pretty irrelevant too

    • @MrFaorry
      @MrFaorry Před 2 lety +2

      It's to do with the amount of equipment in the division. The more of that equipment in the division the higher the reliability needs to be to offset attrition loss, the less equipment in the division the less reliability matters because it'll be taking a minimum amount of attrition loss regardless.
      There's a guide which explains it all and includes a graph of optimal reliability % for the different equipment numbers, 24 light tanks are in the division meaning only 58% reliability is needed.

    I just wanna put something here about divisions
    Premise 1. You want your divisions to win
    Premise 2. The more stats your divisions have PER COMBAT WIDTH, the more effective they are
    Premise 3. Support companies dont use combat width
    Conclusion? Support companies add stats for "free" from a combat width perspective
    Now heres the bit more esoteric part, Take a small combat width division, 10 to 15, smth like that maybe even less, now consider that military police support companies give just as much stats as a normal infantry division but for NO combat width. If you were a minor country and cant add all the good stuff for your support companies, adding military police for combat divisions would be a good idea as it would augment your divisions to be better, for a 19 combat width (7 inf 1 art) which is a common starting template, it would increase the stats by 10%, but use up no combat width.
    Now the truly esoteric part, take a really small combat width division, 4 infantry. Now give them support artillery, Entrenchment, Armored recon (not because recon is good, but because its a way to add light tanks in and i dont have no step back xd), military police and lastly a logistics or field hospital because those give +5 breakthrough, you'll be getting roughly 35% of their defence stats PURELY from the support companies and roughly HALF (50%) of the soft attack from support companies, now you make hundreds of these divisions. Your divisions would be recieving more of their stats from non combat width consuming support companies, so THEORETICALLY their stats would be better than larger divisions per combat width, does this make sense?

  • @glamscum

    I'm beginning to see a pattern of the preferred playstyle of Feedback: quantity over quality; always the cheapest submarines, tanks, don't want to "waste" equipment doing some support companies and generally just spam out as much as possible.
    Disclaimer: not criticizing at all, just an observation.
    On another note, seems like you missed the point of combat tactics?
    Having the higher Reconnaissance in combat lets you counter enemies tactic, sure, but those tactics can be on the offensive as well...say enemies use Ambush, you counter it with Breakthrough and gets you a step closer to winning the battle.
    It's a tool to boost your units that directly involve the combat system, why not use it?
    If we're on the subject of combat tactics personally I love the new Grand Battleplan, which has TWO tactics that cannot be countered: Infiltration Assault & Well-Planned Attack, which most people forget that you can assign any of those tactics(as preferred) to individual generals, field marshals and in your Army Officer Corps(next to where you select doctrine), which makes your army incredibly powerful almost always using combat tactics that cannot be countered.

    • @zaph8015
      @zaph8015 Před 2 lety +2

      I think the point he's trying to make is that yeah, getting the rolls on combat tactics is good, but is it good enough to justify putting the extra IC into your divisions just for that? I used to swear by recon but having played many games now without it I have come to the conclusion that no, in general it's not. Might as well invest the IC into more soft attack or just making more, cheaper divisions. I think with the game as it is now (esp. early game) quantity is incentivised over quality. Having strong divisions is good but if you don't have enough to reinforce the front line in a defense situation, you're screwed. 2 10-width divisions constantly reinforcing each other can hold much longer than just a single 20-width for example, because each division has time to recover. Obviously there's some caveats to that logic, but that's how I justify quality vs. quantity right now. It's also largely a matter of constant testing, throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.
      Also, I discovered that every doctrine has attack and defence tactics which can't be countered. Personally I am simping for SFP's Suppressive Barrage right now as you get it with the first doctrine, and the Smoke and Fire bonus from the officer corps which gives it a greater selection chance also provides +5% breakthrough. It's a nice little early game boost that is pretty easy to get hold of.

    @pawep7056 Před 2 lety

    You are late too this party:p
    Before update I think 1.15 support flame tank did not have lowered armor that significantly. And you where able to get 27 width infantry with flame tank that had 16 Armor with medium flamer with armor +9 (so you don't use chrome) And this was so much better since divisions with aa added have around 14 piercing. That means that only divisions with AT or tank divisons with anti tank canons could pierce. For example in 1939 Germany have only like 2-3 tank and 2 mountain divisions that could pierce this armor while your design can be pierced by every German division since every German division have AA.
    I used that to stem role Germany and Soviet as Democratic "defending" Poland. By 1941 war was over and i had all soviet, german, Italian, czech, hungary, romaina and bugaria teritoris except 2 states British supervised. And it is crazy how strong this was Koningsberg fallen in first week of war Germans where berly slowing us down .

    One Question: Isn`t the speed stat on your tanks in this case completly irrelevant? I think, at least before NSB support companies didn`t affect the speed of the division, so if this is still true you don`t need to spend any points into engine, let your support tanks crall at a lower speed than the infantry and still have your divisional speed of 4.0 km/h.

    • @FLUX.2226
      @FLUX.2226 Před 2 lety

      They already reduced the division's speed before NSB, but without the tank designer it was only noticeable when adding cav recon (6.4 km/h) or early armored car recon (9.0 km/h) to fast tank divisions.
      But the game doesn't allow you to design tanks that are slower than 4.0 km/h anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

What i can reccomend is using medium tanks with the medium cannon two and 3 stabilizers. A good template with some SPA, flame tank support and mechanized steamrolls everything.
