used Auralnauts - How To Make A Blockbuster Movie Trailer formula ( • How To Make A Blockbus... ) to create a modern trailer for an old 1970's bad sci fi film ...
In the mid- 80's, my uncle was coming to London to visit us from overseas, my brothers and I were young around 10 years old. He asked us what present we wanted, and we all said can we have Star Wars VHS tape. My uncle couldn't find it and purchased the VHS tape of this movie instead, for around $140, a lot of money in 80's. When he gave us the tape we looked at each other not knowing what this is. We started the movie and stopped it after 10min, we thought it was dreadful. My brother then decided to make use of the VHS tape and recorded some cartoons on it on the same day. When my uncle found out he was so upset because he spent a lot of money on a movie he thought was like Start Wars. Moral of the story, no movie is like Star Wars, everything else is just garbage.
But The Shape Of Things To Come is particularly no Star Wars. If your uncle had bought Battle Beyond The Stars or Buck Rogers instead you might have had a much better experience.
That's like back when star wars came out. A friend's mom was a little too poor to take him to see it, so instead took him to an actual theater to see "Star crash". I think he got the better part of the deal since I think that film was in theaters for maybe a couple of weeks. In the end it's one film that's so low budget and rushed that it's now a legend.
This may be the most brilliant re-edit ever! Great use of the redubbed dialogue and the Dead or Alive remix. I mean, you made a total crap movie (can you get negative stars?) seem exciting. And the final "doink", outstanding! Bravo!
Looks very much like the rejected design for a Enterprise by Ralph Maqury that was going to be used in the 70's for a Star Trek film that never was then later was slightly altered for the uss Discovery in Star Trek Discovery.
This movie would have been so much better if all the characters had laser guns for weapons instead of electric cattle-prods. Laser guns are cool. Zap-sticks, not so much.
The model fx aren't as terrible as I remember. Better than Starcrash at least. And they can totally sue Star Trek for stealing "Saucer-Sepa" Well, they could if they hadn't built the saucer out of the AMT K-7 Space station kit.
This movie looks AMAZING!
Very cool! Made me want to see it...and I was around to see it the first time and know better!
I saw it back then and I am just now getting over the trauma. Im learning to laugh again.

Holy cow - that’s hysterical and sad at the same time

It's like Battlestar Galactica and Space 1999 had sex and this is the resultant mutant baby
Looks better than "Rise of the Skywalker."
It is.
I actually saw this thing in a theater. I blame an article in Starlog.
Some day, all movie trailers will be made this way... [happy sigh]
This dub had me rolling ....I am downloading the movie now and will be pissed if it isn't dubbed
and it's not :(
It should of showed Jack doing them 1 arm push ups at the Oscars
@@robbypatterson5225 he's awesome , but I think for a while he was doing every project brought to him - like Nic Cage today... both still awesome

Tune!!! Better than Dead or alive
Gosh , I have crush on miss martin....

Me too, I don't that there were that many of us though.

LFAO!!! I actually saw this in a theater. Had NOTHING to do with the book!!!!!
Ha brilliant!!!!!
This thing is so weird I can't even follow it. Very strange, but that moon 99 guy is a direct transplant. AS IS
Good trailer. Where can I get hold of the remix of spin me right round, that you play here?

According to the SF-magazine Starlog the guy responsible for the model effects, Joe Viskocil, also worked on Star Wars (among other movies).
The saucer separation idea actually goes back to the 60's; they just were never able to work it into a show.
@@MaskedMan66 Shame! That would have been cool!
@@nedlangman8846 That it would. :-)
42 years 🥶
Wait, Rated R? For some reason I don't think that's fair. Throw in all the ominous disco music you want, that doesn't exactly make it graphic.
Jack Palance insisted that his 6 unnecessary nude scenes remain in the film
*_R Rated Sci-Fi from 1979??_*
😂😂😂😂😂
Horrible audio track! That is a Canadian movie for 1979!
I think you missed the joke.
Lousy movie!
It was either MST 3K or Riff track ( I think on Amazon prime ) has this film … doesn’t really improve it all that much
Utter crap.
