People have different genetics and respond to AAS differently. For some people, it is absolutely a huge factor. For many others, it makes a small difference. There's been a fair amount of research done on the subject. The average strength gains across relatively large sample groups is roughly 10%.

Devon’s wrist is definitely a 9 or 10. Devon always talks about giving things away to secure other things and his primary style lately is to give away some wrist to secure pronation. I’m sure Devon could turn plenty of the top pullers into a hook if he wanted to, it would just be a bad idea since his side pressure and biceps aren’t world elite level anymore since his elbow surgies. When you top roll the way Devon does it leaves his own wrist more exposed. But when he had to he had the wrist strength to control Prudnyk’s, Genadi’s and Ermes’ pronation like it was nothing, and also wasn’t at all at risk of losing his hand to Denis.
Of course, Devin is losing size. We all with a brain know why. He's off the juice! I bet that's part of why he wants to take a break. He's probably been juicing year round for the past few years. Devin seems like a healthy guy, too, so he probably realizes he needs to chill a bit. Especially at his age. He may need to be a twice a year guy going forward.

I think it's a false idea that Devon fans won't like him coming down from SHW. I think real Devon fans would respect this decision, understand it, and just be happy with his continued involvement in the community whatever form it takes.
Devon has more applicable backpressure on the table with hand control than Ermes IMO.
I don't know why Vitaliy is saying that PEDs don't increase your strength. They definitely do. Just look at all top strength athletes, juiced to the gills. Whoever says that PEDs aren't helpful; PED literally means Performance Enhancing Drug.

I hate how Devon's dropping so much weight. There's still work to be done in the Super Heavyweights. I think it would be a disservice to the sport if he never does the Vitaly match. Maybe that's why Vitaly left him out of his top rankings; he wanted to bait him into a match.
I'm not entirely convinced that it's mainly for health reasons. After his first Levan match, he said 115kg was his more natural and healthy weight. And he really did seem healthy hovering at that 115kg to 120kg range. He didn't need to go 130+ kg to fight Super Heavyweights. He was beating elite Super Heavyweights at the 120kg range.

I agree fully with Krasi. Look at the ermes video the position of Devon's body and him negating and back pressure opening of the wrist that Ermes was doing. Its logical that if you apply back pressure than your wrist doesnt take as much pressure from the opponent.
They're both right. Its the perspective. Krasi is looking at a hooking perspective as a pure wrist curling power, Engin is looking it as a "wrist handling" power. It includes fingers, front wrist(riser) and static wrist power or even whatever power to keep the wrist straight in straps. If Im not mistaken he told those too. He does not think as a single way move but more like a not foldable wrist... But toproll makes the difference and in the overall class toproller wins mostly so taking it as a whole makes more sense to me.

Even then he struggled to keep the weight on for the second Levan match. He stated many times that he was 260 despite pulling Dave Chaffee at 280 not that long ago. He wasn't even heavy versus Ermes like so many people claim. Low to mid 260's

It has been said many times in the comments that Devons mentally drained. And that way he can not compete or train the way he wants. He didnt cancel the match of fear of losing or that he is afraid of David.

I think Devons wrist is maybe an 7.5. Both defensive (not getting wrist taken) and offense (cupping your wrist in) are important in the card rankings, which are currently. . . Pretty meaningless.
Both weight lifted and table performance need to be taken into account (more importance to the latter). We also need to remember that you can protect your wrist by leaning on other strengths.
Devon also lost his wrist in multiple matches.
I also think speaking in terms like “wrist” and “hand” creates a fertile breeding ground for confusion. If we used anatomical terms like “wrist flexion” and “pronation” and “radial deviation” as well as general categories like “overall wrist strength” we would get a clearer picture of what is being claimed by the rankings shown on the back of the cards.
Arm wrestling has grown hugely in recent years, is it time to modernize the terms we use to talk about specific arm wrestling abilities? I lean strongly towards yes, what does everybody else think?

Devon has only a few interesting matches outside super heavyweights since he is bigger in frame than everybody else there: Dadikyan, Toddzilla, Prudnik, Muratov, Matyushenko.
Devon didn't cancel the Dadikyan match because he was worried he'd lose, which is always a possibility, especially when David is so strong, but rather because he wants to have a few match-ups in his remaining career and Dadikyan isn't one of them.
To not be guaranteed a 100% win is not the same as being too scared of Dadikyan.. Devon is always super confident and Dadikyan, whom most people think would lose, just has sour grapes.. Who cares what people think? It's the right thing for Devon to do what is best for Devon. Is Dadikyan scared to arm wrestle someone his own age?

Devon does not lose his wrist because he himself takes others wrist and not with his wrist but with his pronation. Now, let's say someone needs take his wrist, that means Devon will go for the hook and someone will toproll him and take his wrist with their pronation. For this to happen, they need to have longer lever than Devon or they need to be stupid strong like Levan.
