Major fish brother. Man i know you like channel locks but on that last tiger water key style would have been ideal. All I use now unless I have to cut which is rare.
Agreed. We should definitely have had a dehooker instead of Channel locks but we left the dehooker in the bucket at camp. Definitely regretted that. Unfortunately at that point it's technically to late we must cut leader. Another thing we didn't expect was how hard that slope and shore break made the release process. Id say my biggest regret was not using the dehooker. I'm thinking it might be smart to just go straight to bult cutters.

Dam good trip. What was up with the bent hook? Also I like that you put a little bit of everything in the video not just a fish getting reeled in video.
That's the first time any of us had a CA 20/0 bend out. We've had many many sandbar tackle hooks bend stright which is why we won't touch them but the CA was a shocker.

@@charlestonsharkandsurf the CA 20 I think it was out there remember i shifted focus to Zach some not sure exactly when it bent
@@BeachSharkFishing we've bent 3 ca 20s but landed all the fish. We think the heavy drag in big surf and the fish rolling does it. We popped 200lb mono the 1 time we bent the hook in the surf but managed to get the leader. Had 1 that was bite in half during a run but i had that happen to a eagle claw 20 before also, people say sea turtles do it. We still use and like the CA 20s. But the CA 24s are what I fish the most.
@@charlestonsharkandsurf dang dude that's insane. Those hooks are absolutely epic. I heard the CA finally had a worthy 24. In your area I get using 24/0. I just personally can't trust anything over a 20 except of course the demon.

@@BeachSharkFishing preset , what rod actions for what drag poundage , do y’all ever take the bad boy trx to 100 lbs and if so when is it necessary ? Situational drag , when to ease up on drag , and any other stuff we may not know or some information you would like to share, was just thinking I’m sure it’s not always the easiest to come up with ideas and this seemed like a good one

@@aslan5305 better to save up and get the right gear then to use the wrong gear and kill a fish. Probably start with cast out options. That should be a great place to start.

In the future mention the hooks us shark fisherman use are NOT stainless steel and it will rust completely out in 7 days but the shark will be eating again 30-minutes later if that. Just for the Karen's doesn't get upset 🤣

Would a sandbar tackle hook bend out like catch all?
I know diameter of wire makes a difference on hook up ratio though
Sandbar tackle hooks in my opinion are complete garbage. They seem to bend out with a slight gust of wind. Never ever ever again will I pollute my gear by running that trash.
