Most people are cheap. Looking for the best bang for the lowest cost.
So a majority of people are still going to buy the 10 dollar master lock.
You will continue to see them sitting on your shelves because of the price point.
A vast majority of people will not shell out 40 dollars for a padlock.

Already talked to three contractors that have the rotating trailer latches for their trailer they like what they saw and are buying them to many of them have had the shackles cut and everything in the trailer stolen. One of them has the sidedoor too and is getting puck lock with hasp. as for his ladders he never has had anyone try to steal the ladders and hes just has them bungee corded on. So that other lock may not be a big seller at least not in this area. Myself i think i should get a Commission for selling the locks LOL

@@shawnr771 I come from the pandemic infested future. I just picked up the 2A myself. The thin layer of dust seems to indicate that they’ve been there awhile. I sometimes take my camera to work to use afterward, so a decent lock for the locker is nice.
The features of locks are difficult to quantify for end users, as most are not able to thoroughly test said features for themselves and accurately weigh the value. They really only have the marketing to go by. When two packages say the same thing, the only differentiating factors then are price and brand. It’s no wonder then, that people go with the lower cost option.

It is about time somebody steps up, and it will be interesting to see if this is all Home Depots. Around here, it is Master Master everywhere, aside from ace and uhaul selling their own brands, and then the cheap chinese no name knockoffs. Walk mart has some Brinks, and of course reese, but unless you hit up locksmiths themselves, Masters are what you will find everywhere. It is sad that nobody has realized this prior, and I hope Home Depot has good luck with sales. Cuz if they don't the bean counters will stifle it and then nobody will pick up higher security locks. A little late to the party, but watching this video made me think of the time that I realized locks in a flat on store shelves tend to be keyed the same. So one way to get into a lock you didn't buy would be to watch someone pick a lock off a shelf at Home Depot, pick the same type of lock off of the flat they're displayed in, follow them home, and you might have a key to their house soon. Most house locks I've encountered are extremely easy to pick due to large tolerances and simple designs though, which brings another point to mind. I've seen a lot of videos on this channel deal with padlocks, gun locks, and small safes, but not as many deal with door locks. Maybe I've just missed those so far.

@@dataminetk I know why they are hidden in the tool section..... because people that need to protect their tools on a job site are not going to be willing to buy rubbish.
Now if I'm ever looking for a really good lock at Home Depot I know where to look. Thanks for the info!

Also, I think the reason why they keep the good locks hidden in the tool section is because if they put them in the regular lock section then people won't buy the garbage. This tactic is pretty sad actually.

The only person to pick a lock before it is even unpacked.

Good to see a more pick-resistant lock available with customer-serviceable cores. Yakima (car-top, back of car, and other mounting systems) rack systems have been available with keyed-alike packs of cores (up to eight, when I was selling them ten years ago), and they were okay locks, but far from as resistant to picking as the PacLock stuff.
