    Print your image onto regular paper. Grab some cotton wool balls. Dip them in baby oil. Rub the oil into the paper and hang the paper to dry. The oil makes the paper translucent leaving the image intact. We used this method back at school when we couldn't afford to get transparencies printed. Works perfectly the only restriction is size of course.

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  Před 4 lety

      That sounds really messy. I wouldn't want to put oil on my screens because it will cause issues with the emulsion adhering to the screens.

    • @AnthonyMonaghan
      @AnthonyMonaghan Před 4 lety +2

      @@TshirtChick not in the slightest bit messy. You just need a cotton wool ball with literally a dab off baby oil . The paper absorbs the oil and then hang it with a clothes peg to dry. I've done this with my kids....it's kiddie proof messy! Test it out on a plane piece of printer paper. The transparent paper is dry when you use it against the screen and it doesn't effect the emulsion.

    Where do I buy screens

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  Před 3 lety

      It's best to buy them locally so you don't have to worry about shipping but any screen printing supply company should sell them.

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  Před 6 lety

      It's just the regular time about 5 mins or what ever the normal time you would use when using emulsion for what ever set-up you are using.

    it would be cheaper to take lavsan film, which is used for packaging flowers

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for the info but, I don't do flowers so I don't have any of that film so it would cost me more to buy something extra. In this video I'm using what I have on hand because I was in a pinch and didn't have time to go looking for an alternate so I didn't have to spend any extra money on items I don't have at my shop.

    I was actually just sitting here trying to remedy me not having to get yet another printer... I have a laser & sublimation printer and that doesn't work well on the transparency.... I was thinking vinyl or possible using HTV and just leaving it on the carrier sheet without even needing to use transp film.... hmmm

    You can print with paper, just put baby oil in the back of the paper . You don’t need a transparency film.

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  Před rokem +1

      Baby oil seems really messy. Transparency film is very cheap and can be used multiple times in case you need to remake the screen later

      I learned everything from watching here on youtube and no one was posting detailed videos like the way I do so you can do it if you use youtube and search for what you need on here. I use photoshop, I have videos on my playlist just search for it here.

    you don't need to go that far like using vynal. All you need to do is print it on paper (but make sure it's thin) then what you should do is apply veg oil on the screen that u have made, then put that printed paper on the oiled screen and trust me ur paper becomes transparent because of oil and then you can expose it to light. Booom you got your screen.

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  Před 3 lety

      Vegetable oil will be super messy and I would hate to mess up my screens by putting oil on them. You have to degrease the screens or the emulsion will not stick to it so vegetable oil will cause issues with that.

    I tried this as well and using waterbase ink, the vinyl will come off the screen if you are wanting to use vinyl on the screens instead of emulsion.
    Also make sure your printer is on photo glossy

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  Před 4 lety

      I have used waterbased inks in the past back when I first started screen printing while using vinyl as the stencil and had no issues IDK what happened in your situation. I have some older videos that I posted where I'm using it like some of the older cringe worthy videos LOL!

    If you are in the market for a new printer,,, Epsom ECO TANKS....They will save you a fortune in ink...

      I started out using Epson because that's what a lot of people recommended but i will never buy another Epson printer. I'm looking for a CIS for my HP T120 that's what I've decided to use.
