  • Now that I've published over 500 videos on color theory, and interacted with thousands of TikTok users as "the color nerd," what have I learned?
A recording of my webinar, "Teaching (and Learning) Color Theory on TikTok," hosted by the Colour Society of Australia on July 24, 2022.
The recording is kindly provided by Dr. David Briggs, President of the CSA. Learn more about the CSA here:

In my talk I refer several times to Dr. Briggs' website, huevaluechroma.com. It's an invaluable resource for learning about color theory and color theory history.

i really enjoyed watching and listening to this as i sat and mixed watercolors in ways i have never before; i audibly gasped when i got red from mixing magenta and yellow. i got a beautiful blue playing with turquoise and magenta, but the paints aren't combining nicely so some swatches are more purple and some more blue but i am learning. i am so glad your tiktok came up on my fyp i the first place when it did!! now all those $30 dollar watercolor books with ryb mixing advice in the first quarter of the book seem so unnecessary. you have opened up an entire world for me 💖💖

I have never and will never use TikTok. Please add your TikTok stuff to CZcams please! I think it's funny that you trigger people into participating but it does work.

“Reminded younger users of the album cover of an emo band”. I think you are referring to Loveless by My Bloody Valentine (1991), those users might be older than you might think 😛

    Hi Peter
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Your research on color has answered many questions I've had over the years and I now think I'll be able to have fewer problems when I paint after watching this video. One question: I have downloaded your Gamu Color slider but I can't figure out how to align the notches. I'm feeling particularly dumb and I can only hope that someone else has figured it out and can share that info with me. Many thanks!

Thanks for your comment. It's probably easier to demonstrate than explain, so I'll post a video on this!

@@ColorNerd1 That'd be great, Peter. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I think I've cut out all the parts correctly, but no matter which way I fold it, it just doesn't look like the slide ruler in this video.
P.S. I'm not on Tik Tok. Any chance you could post this new video on CZcams?

Hey there! I've posted an instructional video on the gamut slide rule, in case you're interested!
