※These sharpeners seem to be sold more expensively outside of Japan. I believe you can find cheaper ones that are decent online as well. Zwilling J.A. Henckels also has good sharpening stones which I have used before. Unlike the ones I used in this video, you don't need to soak it in water to sharpen a knife (but it still needs to be wet).

Sharpening stones come in grits, and these two grits would be enough for a normal household knife. I used grits 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 8,000, and 12,000 in this video. The higher the number, the finer the sanding and the sharper the knife will be.

I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm czcams.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

because with a dull knife, you use more force and is more likely to have an accident because you'll be thinking 'it's dull.' With a sharp knife, you use less force and probably more careful since it is sharper.

There is no "sharper" blade. The sharpest blade is the one that was sharpened the most. With fine enough grit sharpeners, a little paring ire could be sharpened more. They are both steel blades, just differing shapes and sizes. Those differences are for balance and utilization, and have no effect on sharpness.

That's actually probably the least impressive part of the video. Cutting water bottles has less to do about sharpness and more about edge alignment. I've cut through 5 with a relatively non-sharp machete. The tomato though, holy hell that's sharp.

Yes. The difference is just how long the edge will hold basically. I got 2 identical chef knives. However, the blade is made of rust free steel on one, and Chrome Vanadium steel on the other. Obviously, the rust-free one gets dull faster.

Yes buy what ever knife but then buy a $200 set of of sharpeners or save the money and buy a good knife and a brick and use that for sharpening because that works

This is were it all started, this video is the reason for a year now I’ve been watching knife videos to sleep. If I were to die in my sleep the last thing I would’ve seen is someone sharpening/making a knife. This is also the reason why i have more dreams that I’m a serial killer.
